Francisco is an amazing fitness coach. He is very patient and thoughtful. He pays close attention to your form to make sure you are doing the exercises correctly. He will call and follow up often to follow your progress because he really genuinely cares about his clients succeeding. He is a tremendous human being and coach, and I cannot recommend him highly enough.

Francisco is a dear friend of many years. We’ve shared a lot in common, but I had no idea of his amazing skill as a trainer until I began working with him in the last a year or so. He notices the slightest departure from proper form, keeping the exercise safe as well as effective. His knowledge of anatomy and physiology is exhaustive, and he has a teacher’s skill at using that knowledge to explain things for a layman.
Most of all, he gets results. Not like a drill sergeant—he is patient, supportive, and careful, especially with older clients (I’m 74) who are more vulnerable to injury. But he challenges us, session by session, to take the next step. I have been exercising most of my life, but never seen the kind of gains I’ve had with Francisco. When I started working with him, I did overhead presses with about nine pounds. I’m now doing 48 pounds. Not much by weight-lifting standards, but a major gain for me.
I cannot recommend Francisco more highly. I have worked with good trainers before, but he is THE BEST!

I dropped into Oculus while visiting NYC and had a wonderful experience. Alli, the instructor, was super welcoming and knowledgeable and led a very challenging class.The space is clean and well-stocked with equipment, the staff is friendly and helpful, and the workouts are engaging and scalable to wherever you're at that day. I'd highly recommend Oculus whether you live in NYC or are just visiting like I was.

Francisco is your personal trainer with a lot of heart! I explained my goals and he designed a work out that was efficient, and productive with immediate results. I was able to feel my strength changing quickly and it only improved from there. He checks in often and is the best cheer leader!

Francisco is a skilled, patient instructor who can really teach you how to improve your strength training and form. I was doing a number of exercises that he pointed out could be enhanced and improved so that I could really see better results. He is very supportive, flexible and ensures you understand and also are motivated and know how to maintain persistence. Excellent trainer!

The programming here is absolutely unmatched! All of the coaches are extremely knowledgeable and invested in your progression as an athlete. Multiple class offerings such as barbell club, bodybuilding, and gymnastics gives members the opportunity to work on other skills and sports in addition to Crossfit. Another aspect that makes this gym so special is how inclusive it is. No matter how you identify or where you come from, you are welcome and celebrated in this space. I have been a member for nearly three years and have had an exceptional experience thus far. I highly recommend for anyone looking to try Crossfit for the first time or experienced with the sport.

Physical Equilibrium is my go to for a great workout! Lift Club is the perfect environment for small group training. Sara, Zach and all of the instructor focus on form while pushing me to get the most I can out of the work out. The work outs are customized depending on my weaknesses, what areas I would like to focus on and taking my current ailments into account. After about a year of training, I feel stronger than I ever have. Can not say enough about how great the team at PE is!

Have worked with Sara at PhysEq for a few years now and she has helped me achieve many different goals: Boston Qualifier, the Boston Marathon, my first two 70.3 Ironman, my first 140.6 Ironman and the New York City Marathon. These were all huge milestones for me and I believe Sara gave me the tools I needed to level up in distance running and endurance sports. Along with the training plans, she’s very responsive via text or phone with any questions I have regarding training. Through PhysEq I was connected with a great endurance dietician (Clare) and a great PT (Marisa).

I have had a great experience taking Pilates at PE with Amelia Bonvento. She is an excellent teacher with obvious understanding of Pilates and how it can be used as a tool to improve both flexibility and strength. Amelia thoughtfully plans each session so that the exercises build on the last session but are always innovative and never repetitive. Each week I feel like I am making progress in my routine and also challenging myself while enjoying the workout which is an ideal combination!
In addition, the PE facilities are friendly, well run, and extremely clean which is very appreciated.

Physical Equilibrium has top notch trainers in a well designed, pleasant and clean environment in Midtown. Boutique feeling with personal attention. They are centrally located but if you prefer, they also do house calls. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for a personalized, results-driven approach.

I could not be more grateful to Dean Geller as a personal trainer! I started working with Dean as a post-rehab trainer, coming out of PT after my 2nd shoulder surgery. He has done an incredible job keeping me on track, progressing safely and at exactly the right pace for me. He thoughtfully plans each session, but is quick to adapt and truly tuned into what’s best in the moment. I always look forward to our sessions, and it feels amazing to be getting so strong in a safe, fun and sustainable way. I would highly recommend Dean for personal training.

I've been strength training with Sara Dimmick, co-owner of Physical Equilibrium, for more than five years and it is a wonderful facility with fantastic instructors and equipment. I love it's small size ... definitely not a gym factory! Sara has over twenty years of experience and trains all types of athletes, in particular triathletes and marathoners. I'm an endurance cyclist and given my long hours on the bike, strength training is key to having a strong core for stability and of course lower and upper body strength to tackle the miles and the climbs. Sara also works extensively with clients with injury rehabilitation. The gym has a wonderful sunlit Pilates and yoga studio as well and private rooms for massage. I highly recommend Physical Equilibrium for its personalized service and extremely talented trainers!

I love PE! Zach creates workouts that challenge me but are still manageable. He pushes me to try my hardest while emphasizing safety and injury prevention (so important for runners!). I have better upper body and core strength now. And I’ve been intimidated by Pilates in the past, but Amelia makes it accessible and fun! My posture has improved. I always leave PE feeling energized and excited and just the right amount of muscle soreness.

I dropped into CrossFit Union Square three times this week while I was in town for work and really enjoyed it. To start, Coach Daniel was extremely responsive and went above and beyond to set me up for the week and Coach Patrick was great running a big class. The owner Ross is laidback and both he and the community are really welcoming. Recommend dropping in/checking out this gym for a good sweat and fun!

Everyone is welcoming, the workouts are intense so you always leave feeling so energized, the coaches are awesome, the location is great! This is one of the best gyms if you want to try CrossFit.

Great place to workout... was in NYC for two days and decided to drop in... Little expensive but well worth it. Coach was awesome... sign in was great as well... Place is clean and VERY well equipped.

Liftonic has some of the best strength training classes in the city! I really love being able to just follow along and get in a great workout without having to plan it myself. The instructors are all really encouraging and friendly, and their customer service around buying classes is great. Highly recommend if you want to get into weight lifting, or already have some experience but just want a tough workout without thinking too much about it.

This place has really helped get me into great shape. Pros include location, intensity of workouts, diversity of programming, coaches who are a great mix of motivation and solid teachings. I joined after only 3 months of Crossfit experience, and I have learned a lot and been pushed hard. Space, as in many instances in Manhattan, is limited, so peak hours require advance sign ups. The members are a mix of novices and very, very, very serious athletes/members, but most are kind, helpful, and non-intimidating. Highly recommend for drop-ins (which I did several times before joining).

Oculus is the best fitness experience I have been a part of - I cannot recommend this gym highly enough. Providing a combination of (1) excellent instruction and programming - after ~9 months as a member, I am still being exposed to new exercises! (2) a positive, supportive environment fostered by coaches and members alike (3) a broad variety of top notch equipment, Oculus is a place for everyone - all skill levels and all personalities. I would suggest everyone gives it a try.

Great programming with a team of coaches that tailors the workouts to members of all skill levels. I have a lot of fun working out here while greatly improving my level of fitness. The community is very welcoming. I strongly recommend giving it a shot to anyone who is thinking about trying CrossFit or starting to get bored with their current fitness routine.

Oculus Fitness is the kind of place that you don’t mind waking up at 3:30am and want to go train. The instructors are amazing and genuinely care about each and every one of the members. The programming is balanced and well thought out and this is the best gym in town. Oculus has created a community of acceptance, accountability, knowledge and progress but most importantly support and fun!

Oculus Fitness is not only an amazing gym, but it is the community and the friends that I have gained from being a member of Oculus Fitness that makes this place so special! The coaches and staff are encouraging, motivating, and will help you reach your fitness goals of what is best for you! If you are looking for a new gym to join in the financial district .. I’d recommend stopping Oculus Fitness and giving it a try!

Though I've tried many fitness classes around NYC, I've always been extremely fearful of ones that focused on strength training. This was honestly my favorite experience thus far. There's a wide range of weights available, every sequence is demonstrated and explained clearly -- and though the work-out is absolutely killer, the moves themselves are simple / easy to follow. It really is focused on building strength and eliminates a lot of the complexity (and anxiety) that I've found in other strength classes.
My first class was with Bryan -- he is equal parts supportive, hilarious, and motivating. You walk out feeling strong, and physically feel it all over the next day.

Liftonic is amazing! I try to make it between 2-4 times a week. All the instructors are thorough, fun and personable. If you are thinking about strength training, try it out here! I started well into my 40s and the results are awesome. I see a difference and most importantly feel a difference!

Amazing place to workout! We did two drop-ins during our stay in NY. The coaches were really welcoming, friendly and knowledgeable. All members were really open and friendly. Class programming is clever as well as fun. Would definitley recommend to go here!

Francisco is absolutely fabulous! His method works and you will see results fast. He is patient, attentive, and thorough. I'm a 29 year old woman and I trained with Francisco twice a week for four months. I immediately started seeing results. Not only did I lose weight, but I gained muscle and got much leaner. Highly recommend him!

innovative and low key studio for weight lifting classes in a group environment. Nicely spaced out benches and plenty of weights. Instructor gets projected on multiple tv screens in case your class is full. We had a trial class with Radan who not only knew his stuff but corrected everyone to maintain their best form to get the exercises right. There’s music, lockers, and a couple of changing rooms. Nice atmosphere in this subterranean space and location is very convenient for various subway train

This is the most underrated, yet effective fitness class in NYC. Weightlifting has never been as intensive yet fun. The lighting is perfect, the exercises are simple, and the movements are super slow. Radan / the trainers will guide you every step of the way using creative dumbell / bodyweight exercises.
As a result, using even a lighter weight will make you super sore. And for women worried about bulking up, don't worry, it won't happen. You don't just magically wake up one day looking like Arnold. And if you do, stop lifting.
The leg/butt day here is the best lower body workout in the city. Across 6-7 exercises, you will work out your butt in ways you or your therapist didn't even think possible. Get ready to be sore for a few days.

Becoming stronger with Inner Strength Fitness was a positively transformative experience. The Inner Strength workout is tough but it makes everything else you do throughout the day easier.
Francisco is deeply knowledgeable, experienced and attentive to the details of proper form. His empathetic encouragement pushed me and made me feel I could do or accomplish anything.

Liftonic is one of my favorite studios in NYC! I’ve taken several instructors (Hilary, Courtney, Radan) and I love how unique the classes are every time. They all have different styles of teaching and they are super motivating!!! I always leave the class drenching in sweat and feeling stronger. Great weight training class for all levels! I would definitely recommend Liftonic to anyone interested in learning about proper form and being challenged!!

I can not speak more highly of the personal fitness training provided by Francisco--he's the best trainer I've ever had by far. Francisco is passionate, intelligent and knowledgeable about fitness, health and nutrition. He's also wonderfully supportive, sensitive and patient--yet firm and disciplined--in his approach to working with clients. He delivers information, attention and guidance with a confident and gentle manner that balances wit, humor, encouragement and drive in a quest to get the best results he can for his clients. I was so impressed with Francisco's personal training that I recommended him to my wife and daughter, and they love him too. It's hard to say anything better than that.

Liftonic is one of my favorite strength training classes. Each day focuses on a different muscle group in order to achieve real results.The classes are tough and have challenged me to lift more than I thought I was capable of lifting. The instructors are amazing also and make every session upbeat and energetic. Make sure you try Courtney's class. He is genuinely the most fun trainer I've ever worked with.

Liftonic is by far one of my favorite work out studios in the city. The instructors are very friendly and the music is always great. The workout is never boring and I love that each class focuses on a different section of the body. Leg days are my favorite - I am always sore for at least 2 days!
