Beautiful scenery of mount Merapi and merbabu central java. Good idie stay on top at 5:00 am. Able some coffe and tea.
Majestic place to see sunrise but you have to be early. Be there from around 430am until sunrise.
If you are lucky with the weather u can get very majestic views including two volcanoes, Merapi and Merbabu, and The Borobudur.

You really need to get here before 5am or earlier. It's about an hour from Yogyakarta to here and the roads are actually well lit and in good condition. We did not even see any potholes unlike our ride to Tangkuban Perahu and Kawah Putih.
It's 50k to go up. Many stalls along the way to sell kopi, teh, fried banana, fridge magnets and other souvenirs. Souvenirs, you can bargain.
Up there, there are multiple platforms you can take your pictures. And catch a glimpse of the chicken church on the left. You might even see civet cats in the trees.

Since the sunrise tour ticket of borobudur temple are now scrapped this is the only place nearby to get the sunrise. Its a nice spot tho. Well maintained and clean. Not expensive. BIg area so does not feel crowded. Nice photo ops. Worth to spend effort. Depending on weather u get nice photo ops.
Reach before 5 am if you wish to see the sun rise. Journey is 1 hr from city centre. About 20 mins of climbing up hill. Keep hydrated. Early morning is cold. Insta-worthy!

Recommendation to visit was in the early morning, tons of people usually come to catch the moment of sunrise.
I was being told that the best month to visit here was on July-August cuz the sun will rise in between two mountains which will surely make a stunning scenic view.
The entrance ticket was quite cheap, and the uphill walk was just a short 10 minutes.
My visit was about 11am,and there's nobody here.

This place designed for those who respect the the golden hours. It’s very beautiful to watch sunrise here. The area is quite spacious, but I still recommend you to standby from 5am since mostly the area will be crowded with many tourist.
To arrive at this place you will need to walking around 300 meters from the parking lot, and it’s on the mountain, so that 300 meters means you are climbing up. No worries since the access is smooth.
Parking lot for car and motorcycle are available, and the entry ticket cost are affordable.
There are some area you can use to take a photos with beautiful scenery. It’s a bit tiresome to hike this hill, but I 100% agree that it is worth it.
