The Varley Art Galley always showcasing new and beautiful art exhibits, check out their website for the most recent exhibit available to view today!
very cute, tiny museum. but, they have washrooms that say women “self-identified” and men “self-identified”. erasing biological truths is not good. museums are places frequented by young children—this is dangerous and unnecessary signage. there’s also a gender neutral washroom which makes no sense because that doesn’t exist. why do museums have to cater to 1% of the population and erase women who are already marginalized? sad.
Small gallery but I’m grateful that there actually is a decent gallery in Unionville.

They have exhibits that change and 3 sections inside that can cater to various interests.

Until May 5th, they have a few pieces of original artworks by famous Canadian artists at the entrance, including FH Varley, AJ Casson, Lemieux, David Milne. For a small gallery like this, not bad at all.

In the other section they have artworks created by First Nations women including Pitseolak Ashoona. I enjoyed this section the most. There were a few contemporary artworks by women artists included with commentary explaining the reason for including it in this section.

Worth checking out, even if you only have 20 minutes, to see something beautiful, interesting and different at Unionville.
An open community art gallery for free entry. Many interesting pieces were collected.
The exhibition “longing belonging- 100 years 100 stories” reflected on the long history of Chinese immigration. The gallery was doing a great job telling a story of an early Chinese immigrants, and many others who share similar struggles or who are seeing improved situation as a new comer. I found it intriguing and thought-provoking.
Really a beautiful place, if you have a guide you can learn a lot about Canadian history, would recommend.
Beautiful gallery located in the heart of Unionville.

The gallery isn’t very large but they have interesting exhibitions.

The current one is about the stories of Chinese immigrants in the past 100 years. Given the large Chinese population in Markham, I think many can relate to these stories. And it’s also a good educational resource for the next generation Chinese + non-Chinese alike.

There is also another exhibition with really really amazing flower-art.

Definitely worth a visit especially if you are taking a stroll down Main Street Unionville enjoying some leisure time.
Small municipal gallery but still a somewhat-hidden gem! Spent 30 min max here to fully absorb the artwork. You can download and use an app for fun immersive animations. Because of the rotating exhibits, there's always something different to look at. Can't wait to see what's new in a few months' time! Lots of parking around Too Good Pond or behind the shops of Main St Unionville.
Varley Art Gallery in Markham. Notable works from the Group of Seven. Please donate. It's a beautiful and quiet oasis just across the street from the main Street.

Also have an indigenous collection.

It's free. A local museum. Making art accessible. Please donate! There are also classes for all ages.

Staff are friendly. Amenities are accessible.

Recent exhibitions are modern. Great juxtaposition.
its a small Art gallery located just beside unionville village, it has some works that has to be seen, also the reception is helpful with the directions, only parking is little full, but it was free for entry. really liked it.
Visited to see "Witness", Canadian art of the First World War. An excellent gallery space in a beautiful area. This exhibit in particular is definitely worth the visit. Amazing works of art and a glimpse into Canadian history.
