I’m working in the area for the next 3 months and The Coffee House looked to be the best option around (I try to stay away from big chains).

I ordered an iced oat mocha and they began to make it with ice cream. I questioned them about it and was told that’s how they make it and they said it couldn’t be made over ice. I’ve never seen this before and did not want to drink ice cream so I opted for the hot version, which wasn’t very nice.

For what it’s worth it’s a nice feel inside and the staff were friendly.

I guess I’ll be finding the nearest big chain next time. What a shame.

I was working in Longton few weeks ago and popped in here for a coffee what can I say! One of the best ever coffees I've ever had! Really well bodied smooth lovely aroma highly recommend this place

Don't go in on a Tuesday...staff ignore you..went in at 3ish one staff member washing up and the other dropping coffee remnants on her foot then talking about her girlfriend who will give her a massage at home later on!! No recognition totally ignored...I don't want to hear about her private life just wanted a coffee..hanley better staff and on the ball. Very poor.

I really like Starbucks and usually the experience is good but every time I'm in Potteris and behind the counter is that guy in his 40's I hesitate if I should order or not. Never before had staff to not understand me, he always can't, when I give instructions what drinks I want usually they are happy they do not need to ask many questions but he has always problem and I need to tell him everything twice and you can see he is not happy about it. Just a little better attitude would be great.

Pulled in for diesel on the way home to Wales, the lady just called the pump number, nothing else. Went into the shop to ask what the problem was, grabbed a couple of drinks and snacks for the journey back where she scanned then hid 2 drinks hoping i would forget them. We moved over to the pump she told us to, could not be arsed dealing with her again so tried paying through the app, was not sure which shell garage it was so went in to ask if it was Talke Shell garage and she replied with "well obviously". This is not the correct way to converse with customers. Time was 1910, 29th of July 2024. I suggest Shell start encouraging staff with good customer service skills or at least train them up aso they deal with people in the correct manor and treat them with a bit of common decency.

Stall food and drinks that don't contain what they say
Asked for the banana bread (old stall and flavourless) asked for dragon fruit and coconut refresher and got just coconut milk and two ice cubes very disappointed
Staff unfriendly and unwilling to help when I ask one of you that is taking about plans you have after work to wipe my table down I'm told not to interrupt

I love their coffee, the flavours of the roast are delicious without being overpowering. Plus, their pastries, especially the brownies and their paninis are great! The staff are also really lovely :)

I’ve been going to the coffee house since it’s been opened on most Saturdays, the staff are always friendly and helpful.
The place is always clean and tidy.
I love the tea cakes it’s a must on our mum n daughter shopping dates for brunch.
Vicky is fantastic and my daughter loves it when she is working , she will even run back into the coffee house to show what she got with her pocket money.

The food and the coffee were both excellent but the overly loud group of staff standing around the till shrieking was off-putting and the light shades above where we were sat were absolutely filthy dirty, covered with a heavy deposit of dust. In fact the whole place looks uncared for and dirty, small maintenance jobs haven't been done etc. I shouldn't be surprised really it basically matches the rest of Hanley.

Really do like this Chain, this particular location is good as it's never too busy. Can have the odd obnoxious individual given it's location, but it's easily the best Cafe in the town.
Food is very good, the coffee is a crowd pleaser, stays away from being pretentious.
Always clean and tidy, right next to a car park, reasonable prices.

We have frequented this coffee house on a few occasions and are always very pleased with the service we receive. However on this occasion I absolutely disgusted with the way a member of the team spoke to an older member of the public.

The lady had come in to use the toilet and not purchased any items. I can understand that this is not appropriate and is a luxury for paying customers only. This was not approached in a respectful manner:
"Hi, can I get you anything?"
"I was just trying to use the toilet"
"It's for customers only, it does say on the door outside if you read the notice, it is in English"
This attitude and behaviour I find rude and assumptive. The lady may have not been able to read or may have additional needs. Which again, I appreciate that it is for paying customers. However the way in which the lady talked at was absolutely appalling. If it was a group of intimidating people or somebody who appeared to have dishonest intentions, this approach have been warranted. This was unnecessarily rude

This member of staff was loud and disruptive, no professionalism or courtesy for those around them.

We like to avoid big chains to keep the independent companies thriving and after this experience we will not be returning.

I find the irony of questioning an older ladies ability to read when someone is unable to spell 'cutlery' correctly.

Awful place. My partner has Chron’s disease and the male on night staff flat out refused to let him go to the toilet although he was desperate due to his disability. Absolutely shocking.

Just travelled from Hereford with 6 people, stopped off for breakfast, Ali and his team were so accommodating and the breakfast was amazing! I will definitely be stopping here again, even if it’s just to say hello to Ali.

Ever since the adblu pumps were installed I have used them to refill my cars. Today at about 4.30 pm the attendant refused to authorise pump 15 for me to use stating that it is hgv only. Is this a new policy? If so does that mean our company vehicles. Non of which are hgv cannot use this pump to refill adblu? Talking of 25 trucks. Obviously if we go elsewhere for adblu then we will fuel at that place instead.

Pleasant staff. I was a bit specific about how I wanted my coffee - they listened and gave me exactly what I asked for. Coffee was good BTW. Eggs benedict was OK: neither great nor bad. Nice atmosphere and a proper local café, rather than a corporate front for a bank.

Highly recommended by 9 year old Archie who says they serve the best hot chocolate he's ever tasted and the chocolate brownies are very delicious.

I went for some lunch with my mum today for the first time at esquires but the shop looked full. A lady came over to us and found us a nice table hidden just round the corner to sit. Very polite when taking our order and kindly helped me to create an esquires member card for my next visit.The food and coffee was amazing.The displays had variety of fresh sandwiches and cakes. We had a tuna club sandwich a gingerbread late and a candy cane hot chocolate. Presentation was amazing and came within minutes. . My mum struggles with her balance and walking but we was close by to a disabled toilet that was handy for us.

Great homemade food and friendly staff, it’s always a pleasure to go for a meal.

Tired of offers on alcohol mainly lager then when you take it to the till they ask for more than the offer price labelled in the fridge and when you question it you get a shrug of the shoulders and told its the price on the system. Sort it out surely they should honour the display price. I even got charged once for beer I returned back to the fridge that was priced wrong and told it was refunded back to my card but never received the refund.

Proper caf with proper homemade food!

Friendly owners, good prices, huge portions.

We had take out from here more than once and both times the food has been fresh and cooked to order. The owner went in to peel and chop a potato for fresh chips, and batter a chicken breast for a burger. We even got asked what herbs/spices we liked in the batter!

Proper caff. Lovely friendly owners. We had a huge omelette and chips, oatcakes and a cheese and onion sandwich. All delicious and filling! What a top find!

My wife and I came across this cafe whilst on a trip. We were not sure what to expect, but ordered 2xSteak meals for less than £20 in total.

I was surprised when we found that the steak was one of the best we have had in ages. No gristle or fat, it was just tender. The chips were home made and everything hot and tastie.

This cafe needs to be reviewed by YouTubers.

Needless to say, I highly recommend City Road Cafe.

Possibly the best breakfast I have ever had. Every item cooked to perfection 👌🏼 you can tell all of the ingredients used are good quality. The biggest one for me usually is tomatoes tasting tinny but these fat plum tomatoes were so fruity I was very impressed. Great value, amazing food and Ali and Craig were so welcoming . with an awesome atmosphere, we absolutely loved it. Today was our first time there but we will 100% be going there again. Eat in or take away, cash or card payment option. Anything you don't want on your breakfast you can replace with any other item at no extra cost. And either a hot or cold drink included in your breakfast price. (Which may I add we had coffee and it was very nice) .
Thank you very much for the hospitality Ali and Craig. Highly recommended to anybody who enjoys a proper full English breakfast the way it's supposed to be cooked.

Very friendly service from both staff members. Clean and pleasant cafe, very good small breakfast which was tasty and filling. Value for money, will call in again if in this area, would recommend.

Staff are rude and unapproachable, don’t ask for a name so handing out drinks is easier. On top of that they never get the orders right especially when some people could have serious allergies or intolerances to cert. things. Messy store untrained staff who use slang words such as ‘safe’ when speaking to customers. I work in the Center and all my I even spoke to a supervisor by the name of Lauren and she was nasty as well as the staff behind the till very cliquey and bunched up with rude staff that are inattentive to customer needs they are out here making people’s drinks wrong but then having a attitude when asked to fixed and one time they used cow milk and not using the correct judges people are allergic to these things and it could be a law suit waiting to happen then when addressed to remake the drink the staff cackled don’t want this happening again or a email and letter will be sent with substantial evidence to back up every point up!

Gourmet has a great atmosphere, excellent speedy service and some of the best quality coffee out there. I usually have a pastry or cake and a latte for breakfast, which are always delicious.

The servers were so very accommodating when I'd asked if they could squeeze in an iced matcha latte a minute before the closing time. They were so nice about it and I did get my matcha fix in record-breaking time! 😊

So we all know how awful Longton has become, but there's glimmers of hope, this coffee shop is one of them. Stylish, fabulous service and a lovely atmosphere.

What a lovely coffee shop. The decor is stylish and calming. The coffee was delicious and we had a toasted teacake too which was excellent. The big panoramic windows are great for sitting enjoying your coffee and watching the world go by. We loved the outside seating too. Highly recommended if you are in the Longton Market Square area. We will definitely be regular visitors! 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

Word of warning to Trainline users: check the details on your return tickets carefully. Trainline often sells 2 date specific singles in the guise of a return - meaning you may have to pay for your return journey again.

I’ve just had to do that - so a great cup of Gourmet Coffee was a good consolation prize.

Absolutely lovely people here, in particular a beautiful kind lady called Amanda Wiwczaryk. I was doing a charity walk in memory of my son lost to suicide, and needed a bit of advice regarding the road ahead , this beautiful soul not only made a donation to my walk but also called her boss who kindly gave a donation too, she absolutely looked after us with food and coffee too. I cannot thank her enough for everything she did for us, the world would be a far better place if everyone had a heart like Amanda!!

Made my first visit to The Coffee House, Longton, this morning, and I have to say I'm extremely impressed.

It is a very clean, comfortable and modern establishment that really sticks out in it's surroundings, very comfortable seating arrangements, It has that "trendy" upmarket feel to it, whilst keeping it's core roots and values of community at it's forefront.

The server was a real credit to the business, very polite and attentive, making conversation, explaining all the options available to me, and I was served promptly and efficiently.

As it was my first visit here, I indulged myself with a breakfast wrap, which was incredible, Hot fresh and super delicious.

There was a decent selection of hot/cold sandwiches/baguettes/wraps, cakes, biscuits and pastries available for the sweet and savoury tooth & health intolerant and/or other personal preference.

The pricing, I was expecting to be at the top end of the scale for an establishment of this quality, but I was pleasantly surprised, with my breakfast and a pot of Tea coming in at just over £6.50

There is a reward scheme in place for the die hards, but the fact you have to have a debit/credit card linked to the rewards app to collect stamps didn't sit well with me so I didn't bother. Also the free medium sized drink after collecting 10 stamps can only be redeemed as take-away which I rarely do so for me this is something that can and should be improved down the line, To cater for those who would like to sit in and relax.

Overall, this is exactly what Longton has been needing for some time, and finally, now it is here, it has not disappointed. A fantastic addition to the area and one I hope that can continue to build and be successful. The only blemish being the rewards scheme as i mentioned above.

Hopefully, be a benchmark for other eateries looking to set up shop in the town centre in the future.

As little gem! Lovely for a cuppa. Full English breakfast is fantastic. There are toilets both upstairs and downstairs.

Decor is very homely, creates a great feel on a chilly Sunday afternoon.
Staff were very friendly and polite, and even happy to make a item that wasn't on the menu (egg and cheese oatcakes).
Food came out after about 10 mins but was well made and hot showing it was freshly made to order. The toasties are chunky with plenty of filling, would definitely recommend for fellow cheese lovers

Very poor costumers service! The lady and a guy with long hair they aren’t friendly at all, I select on coffee machine wrong coffee and I had to order new once and they charged me and he start to look in to rubbish bag and after that he put the hand on my items. This is not friendly coustumers service! I never use it again for sure.!!!

Short hair lady ( about 60 years old ) step out at the entrance and start to yelling at me .
One can only only one .
Then shouting again maximum 20 liter in one can .
Sure me as a customer will know all of their terms and conditions of selling fuel and deserve to be yelled at .... No I don't and I deserve to be respected. She should have been walking up next to me and just saying sorry we are restricted for one jerry can and maximum of 20 liter .
That's my last visit here and never going to miss it .
Very unprofessional and very rude.

Had a coffee whilst waiting for a train after a business meeting in August 2019. I was greeted with a polite welcome from staff, but it felt very cold as if being read from a card with no eye contact or glimpse of a smile. The place looked clean and tidy. I ordered a large latte, which pleasantly was indeed a good size as often measures are restricted in some coffee houses. I wasn’t asked if it was sit in or take away, so it came in a cup with lid, which is a shame as I had an hour to kill on the tables outside. Unfortunately it didn’t taste great either – quite granular and not very smooth. Also slightly overpriced, even for a large. I’d probably try the other coffee shop on the station next time; so I can compare.

I went in there yesterday, it was dirty and there was rubbish on the floor and dirty tables and it had a funny smell and there was five staff in so no excuse.

Friendly service, great simple vegan options, excellent Union coffee. Soya, oat and almond milk alternatives available. Some comfortable seating. Sockets for charging your devices. Free Wi-fi. Inside Stoke-on-Trent station, platform 1.

Not a great experience to be honest. Customer service was awful, no greetings at the counter whatsoever, didn't ask me for my loyalty card. Gave me the option to have coffee instead of hot chocolate, but never explained I'm gonna get charged extra for that, ordered a medium- got a medium- but got charged for a large. No willingness from the staff to rectify the problem neither. Drink was not hot enough, half the cup was cold ish milk (especially for the price!!!) . Very busy most of the time. Disappointed.
