Top Espresso bars in Madrid, Spain

Really loved this hotel and its location. Madrid's central tourist area is pretty big, but everything is walkable from here and the Grand Via subway stop was just a block away, making getting around easy. Really liked the Chueca neighborhood...lots of great eats but not super touristy like the south side of Grand Via. Victor at the front desk gave great food recommendations. They use the front lobby as a coffee shop during the day, so a lot of students were there working and using the wifi, giving it a fun vibe.

We had an almost perfect stay in this hotel located in the middle of Madrid (Chueca). The closest metro station is Gran Via which is located 100m away (bus are also available here).

The staff were friendly. Breakfast is good. Several salted and sweet choices (don’t expect a very large buffet such as in the very big hotel but it’s enough according to me).

About the room, we were at the 5th floor with a comfy room, nice beds, and small balcony. The bathroom was enough spacious and very clean (such as the whole room actually).

Even though, I’ve started with “almost perfect” because I’d highlight an important negative point : the insulation. Indeed the insulation from the outdoor AND the indoor is very bad. You can hear the door of your neighbors slam as if it were your door. Anyone talking in the corridor as if they were in your room. Your upstairs neighbors walking on their very cracking parquet. And the worse for me is the outdoor insulation which is a way too bad. Especially on our 2nd and last night which was quite disastrous. Extremely loud music coming from the place near the Gran Via (is was terribly loud) and I don’t know if it’s something usual for a Saturday night or if it was exceptional (I hope so…) but that woke me up twice during the middle of the night for a long time… and then cars horn in the street down the hotel at 5am …

That’s why I may hesitate about coming back and recommending it despite the majority of good points, because this is a very important factor of your sleep quality in an hotel.

The accommodation at the hotel was perfect. The rooms were clean every day, the breakfast was rich and very tasty. The location is excellent and close to the main street. The atmosphere in the place is pleasant and fun, the staff members are kind and attentive. They speak English well and are always happy to help.

El personal es muy educado y agradable. Las tostas están espectaculares. El ambiente típico de mercado es ideal, probablemente el mejor rincón del Mercado de la Cebada.

Incroyable expérience ! L’accueil est très chaleureux et les produits sont d’une excellente qualité. J’y suis revenu plusieurs fois depuis que j’ai découvert cet endroit, et j’y reviendrai encore. You need to taste everything! It is so good.

Pedir un café descafeinado con leche desnatada, pan con tomate,un capuchino y otra tosta con salmón, tardaron en servirlo, casi diez minutos. Se formó una fila de gente, que parecían la del paro. Las personas que atendian, son amables, pero necesitan más preparación o formación adecuada. O aumentar la plantilla con otra persona más.

Atención buenísima y la comida excelente. Recomiendo la tosta de rabo de toro, deliciosa!

Mis suegros piden dos cafés y una tostada y, como era 4,55 euros, mi suegro pregunta a la camarera, si le importa que le pague con 50 euros. La camarera responde que es igual, por lo que pone los 50 euros en la máquina.

La sorpresa llega cuando le dan el cambio y solo le devuelven 5,45 euros, es decir, el cambio de 10 euros, en vez de los 50 euros entregados.

Se lo comentamos a la camarera y ésta asegura que eran 10 euros, sin género de dudas, mientras que mi suegro sostiene que eran 50 euros.

¿El problema? Al ser una máquina de cobro automatizada, no se puede comprobar el último billete que hay encima o contar la caja para ver si hay 40 euros de más.

La encargada nos dice que ha hablado con Informática, que van a ver los vídeos, y en unos minutos dicen algo. Media hora después, nos dice que no pueden hacer nada hasta el día siguiente.

A la espera de que se pongan en contacto con nosotros, o no, me asaltan dos dudas. La primera, si con una máquina registradora clásica se podría haber solucionado el asunto, aunque no hay certeza de ello.

La segunda, si la máquina de cobro es realmente infalible o, como sostiene mi suegro, ha fallado en esta ocasión.

Veremos.

Margy, the owner of this sweet café with a gorgeous aesthetic, was so kind and welcoming when we sat down and had our coffees. Great way to relax after a busy day of walking around Madrid! Shame it is tucked away so fewer people hear about this gem of a place! Can't wait to come back and soak in the lovely atmosphere again!

Ambiance was perfect for a quiet morning in Madrid! Would highly recommend the cappuccino and cold brew infused with citrus/orange slices. Was worth an extra few minutes on our way to the Royal Palace.

Great speciality coffee, avocado toast and atmosphere.
The service is top notch and very friendly.

Tapas, tostas, vinos y vermut en este local del mercado situado en la planta baja a la izquierda frente a la entrada principal sin duda una buena opción para tomar una cervecita.

Amazing iced banana latte. Cozy atmosphere, nice place near Plaza Mayor.

Dentro del mercado de la cebada, en la planta baja, en un rinconcito no muy visible pero muy gratificante descubrirlo.
Con acceso universal, apenas hay ruido, muy tranquilo, buen ambiente.
Solo posibilidad de sentarse en la barra con taburetes altos.
Vermut con bastante cantidad y tapa delicatessen.
Venden al público botellas de vino, vermut.......
El precio es económico con la cantidad y calidad que se oferta.
Un lugar para repetir.

A nice spot

Desde que descubrí Sotik en noviembre se ha vuelto una visita obligada cada vez que vuelvo a Madrid, lo recomiendo merece la pena.

La comida esta buenísima, a destacar sus croquetas y la tosta de rabo de toro, luego tiene una estupenda variedad de vinos españoles, los puedes tomar alli por copas y si te gustan te los puedes llevar a casa porque también tienen tienda.

El trato tanto de Marcos el dueño, como los camareros es muy bueno.

Si estas por la latina o vas al rastro no te lo puedes perder 😉.

Cozy nook for good coffee and tostadas.

We tried the pistachio cream with Serrano ham, and the artichoke toasts - the flavours are good, they are generous with the spreads/oil on the toasts which obviously add richness. They are still light on the stomach.

Will definitely be going back for more.

Great little coffee shop with tasty sweet and savory options. We dined in and carried out during our stay. Done quite well! Shop owner is lovely as well. Speaks English, if that is helpful for you.

The place is cozy and very nice, PET FRIENDLY. We stop for a brunch and we were tempted with sobrasada (Chorizo from Mallorca), sheep’s cheese and honey and the other olive pâté , roasted red peppers.
For drinks we order a pink chai tea and a flat white.
Everything was amazing and delicious, the owner is very chatty and friendly person, all the staff is really amazing.
It’s a very nice place to stop, have some excellent food and drinks, recover some energy and hit the tourist route again for more Madrid.
Thank’s for everything, we will go back for sure, at least I’ll be a recurrent customer.

This used to be my favorite coffee spot. Not until one of your staff "Fanny" treated us very rudely. She's a racist. Very Disappointing. I wish Bombon Boss can so something about her.

Great discovery in Madrid city center!! Really good Tapas and pinxos bar in Cebada's market of La Latina. Worth to stop by if you visit this beautiful neighborhood. Try a Tosta de Rabo de Toro and you won't regret it. Probably one of the best food I had lately. You can also buy some great spanish wine... Nice!!

Fuimos a desayunar un domingo por la mañana y fue un poco desastre.
Estuvimos esperando para que nos atendieran bastante tiempo. Hubo problemas con la caja a la hora de cobrar y tuvimos que esperar todavía más. Calentaron una cosa que no habíamos pedido. Muchas mesas estaban sucias. El lugar donde se dejan las bandejas estaba hasta arriba de platos y vasos sucios.
El pan del bocadillo estaba demasiado duro (es posible que ya lo hubieran calentado a otro cliente por error anteriormente como nos pasó a nosotras).
Muy posiblemente elijamos otros sitio la próxima vez 😔 porque tampoco me pareció barato.
