One of the best museums I have ever visited - offering deep insights into everyday life in the first Jewish ghetto in Europe.

Very nice museum
Amazing contribution to the Jewish history in Frankfurt

The museum depicts the origin of the Jewish quarter in Frankfort since inception, its development across several centuries and how it was destroyed and rebuild. In the museum.you will find the original foundation of three houses of the original Jewish Quarter.

Excellent information on how the Jewish people lived. Especially impressed with how they worked with the Christians to avoid working on the Sabbath.

Museum Judengasse is a very good museum and interesting museum. Judengasse was a former ghetto (1462-1796) that was torn down in the middle of 19th century, and newer houses were built over the foundtations of the old ones
The neighborhood's two synagogues were destroyed in 1938. In connection with new construction in this century, they excavated the area and chose to build a museum around several of the houses in Judengasse. Really nice presentation. (Visit on July 22, 2023)

If you’re curious about the vivid Jewish life before the war this place is a must go. However, one should keep in mind that this museum is a rather archeological one and if you’re interested in a wider collection the other Jewish museum in the
city is a better option for sure. Special thanks to the museum staff for their warm welcome.

Archaeological relic of the Ghetto gives you a sense of what a ghetto looked like. The cemetery is also amazingly preserved. The staff is super friendly and sweet.

Wow! We came on Museum free day (last Saturday of the month). Actually we didn’t know about the museum. We were at an art museum and a kind stranger told us about this museum. We learned so much about Frankfurt history, Jewish history and we’re able to walk around the foundations of the Jewish Ghetto “Jedengasse”. The museum is great on free day, but honestly we’ll worth the small admission price. We are so glad we went.

Excellent museum, and only €6 to get in, the history is very interesting, both how they found the ruins and how this lived in the Jewish quarter in the past. They do a really good job of bringing the history alive.
all of the signs are in English with the exception of the intro video as they have removed the translation headphones due to Covid.
I’d really recommend asking to visit the Jesus cemetery next door, when your finished at the museum ask for the key, you have to leave a form of ID as a deposit.
