Had been here a couple of years ago and everything was really good. Was in the area with a couple of friends and thought we would try it again. Looked at the menu and noticed nothing had changed, usually not a good sign. Then we were told that there is no table service, orders had to be placed at the bar, no big deal. Ordered baked clams. $16 for for 3 "stuffed" clams in aluminum clams shells. Terrible. Rest of the food was OK, definitely not as good as the first time.

Been going here for many years mostly for the best lobster roll anywhere but not this time. Usually the lobster roll is filled with chunks of lobster in a relatively light mayonnaise seasoned dressing on a ciabatta roll, not a hot dog roll like many places.
This time the lobster roll was what appeared to be shredded lobster in a much too heavy mayonnaise dressing that disguised the lobster flavor. Very disappointing and hopefully just a bad day.

I've been meaning to come back here as this was an incredible place for seafood. I was here in June 2023 - and my experience was so good that this was the restaurant I frequented during my stay in Hampton Bays. I'm disheartened by the negative reviews I'm currently reading and hope that the next time i return my experience will be just as positive.

The seafood was fresh and plentiful. I can't wait to visit again!
Eat outside, if you can. Easy, relaxed vibe where you can hear familiar music of the '70s and '80s playing in the background, sometimes even live! Enjoy playing a friendly game of pool, darts or trivia. Order at the counter and wait at your table for the delivery of some delicious food. Fun, not fancy. Loved it!

No frills seafood spot. Lots of seafood options with fantastic gazpacho. Nice views too. Usually an hour plus wait on the weekends to sit outside for dinner in the summer

Visited yesterday looking for some fresh clams by the water. Clams tasted off and discolored. Bar was packed also no greeting from the staff. Tip was also added onto bill
Wouldn’t recommend this place

While it’s a bit pricey the quality of the food was worth every penny! They had a tuna poke bowl daily special that may have been one of my favorites of all time.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Canal Cafe, and it was an unforgettable experience. The highlight of my visit was the lobster roll, which was simply divine. Generously filled with succulent, fresh lobster, perfectly seasoned, and served on a buttery, toasted bun, it was the best I've ever had. The setting was charming, with a relaxing ambiance and friendly staff that made the experience even more enjoyable. Canal Cafe is a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy exceptional seafood in a delightful atmosphere.

This bar is always particularly unsettling to me, the staff inside made my group and I feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I’ve been inside before and it’s a generally nice space with a pool table, high chairs with tables, and seats around the bar. Due to the tightness near the entrance it felt intrusive to step inside. The bartender gave us odd stares and short blunt answers, we ended up leaving pretty much as soon as we got there, didn’t even buy a drink. if you’re a poc I would recommend to proceed with some caution if you’d like.

Located on The Shinnecock Canal, nice spot to watch the boats come and go. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Went for lunch. We had beer battered shrimp, grilled grouper sandwiches, and crab cakes. Good, but nothing special. Specialty cocktails were good also. No problem with service, but they were very busy, so attention was a little off. I would return for lunch again

Def gets crowded so prepare to wait as reservations are not accepted. outside is where you wanna be! fresh seafood and the large lobster roll is truly large - enough for two of us to share. it comes on a rectangular ciabatta roll.
don’t love that they use plastic forks (from an environmental and experience perspective). service was adequate:

We came here for my mom's birthday lunch. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. Mom had the lobster and enjoyed every bite. My granddaughter had the chicken fingers, she ate some, but decided my fish and chips was better than her chicken. My daughter had the burger, which came out the exact temp she asked for. The views are beautiful, parking was easy. All in all we had a very nice day. Price wise it's what you would expect for the Hamptons. But not over the top.
We will most likely be back
The food and drinks in this place was amazing

Great kids menu and amazing atmosphere

Really enjoyed my time at this establishment

Very clean and excellent staff.

I had to go on a Sunday and it was great

Clam chowder was very delicious and the oysters super fresh and tasty

My scallop risotto was amazing maybe the best I ever had. Definitely coming back on my next Long Island trip.

Wonderful place! The location was perfect (weather helped out), service was prompt and friendly, and the food was amazing. All around great!

Started off with the Oysters (cooked), got the Fish Tacos...Fish Sandwich and Lobster Roll. Lobster Roll was mine and delicious! Totally worth the price. The view helped as well, and we were in and out pretty quickly.

Highly recommend stopping by if in the area.
Off season here can be very chill. It's generally pretty easy to get a table once the tourists have gone home and the food is definitely worth the trip to the bay. We ordered clams and oysters on the half shell and both were awesome! Very fresh, very tasty, and served ice cold. Honestly some of the best oysters I've had!

My dinner was the kale salad and it did not disappoint. It was full of wonderful fresh ingredients and the kale was expertly prepared and dressed just the right amount.

Overall it was a pretty good experience and I will go back!

This is a local establishment offering some local fare, like clams, and orher seafood.

The place is small and can get busy, but have a drink and time will pass by quickly.

Service was good and then they'd forget about us intil we summoned someone, and then they'd be back on track.

The salad was a little wilted.

The guacamole was delicious and the chips were crispy.

The clams in broth were yummy. The bread is good and hot!

We had a good time.
First time eating here, pleasant atmosphere, friendly staff and food was good. My wife and I had burgers that were cooked perfectly. Stuffed clams for appetizers were OK, would recommend early in week because probably weekend is crazy. Overall solid place 👍👍👍👍👍
I had the lobster salad while my friend had the lobster roll. Hers was a little bland while mine was quite tasty with the mangoes and cashews on it. It was a little chilly with the wind outside but a beautiful day to get some fresh air. The view of the docks as well as the fishing boats coming in was amazing. I saw a huge baked stuffed lobster go by me that also looked amazing. It was more expensive than I’m used to.
This was our second time coming here, and it was even better than the last time. The appetizers were AMAZING! We ordered their crab dip, steak bites and mussels in white wine sauce - everything was spectacular. The white wine sauce was delicious and we ordered extra bread to just dip it in and also use it for our lobster later on.

For the main course we ordered the lobster roll which was fine I think it would have been better without the mayo or lesser Mayo, the lobster itself was great as my family thoroughly enjoyed it, the burger was fantastic too. Our server was attentive, funny and pleasant. I would definitely return for the mussels and crab dip! The view is always gorgeous which is a +.

A wonderful experience as usual!
Amazing lunch experience! Our first time to the Hamptons; everything was delicious and service was top notch. Food delivered fast and flavorful. Leanne made great suggestions from cocktails to dessert.

We are staying in Hampton Bays between Thanksgiving and New years for the next few years and stumbled upon this hidden gem! It’s a cozy quaint bar on the water. It has beautiful water views and the nicest people run the place! I have had the best food there as well! Lobster pot pie, and lobster sliders are fantastic. The burgers and baked clams are terrific too! I honestly haven’t had a drink or a morsel of food that wasn’t delightful. I recommend it highly!!! Schmitty, Monica, Emma, Avril and Marketta are all welcoming and great bartenders! Make it your business to get there if you can!!

We loved it! Just reading the menu excited us ans our taste buds were not disappointed. We loved everything. I ordered 1/2 dozen clams, 1/2 dozen oysters, the deconstructed wellington, prosciutto shrimp, and half baked avocadoes. Our new favorite. Felt like some creative dishes like im tasting something from top chef or something. Like some executive chef who wanted to retire and live a quiet life by the marina but still fulfilling their dream of cooking...or some young u discovered chef. 🤣 Felt like a little secret. Loved the sand and set up. They have live music Fri-Sun. Ample parking. Tucked away in a neighborhood. Across from the Hamlet restaurant. So much fun! Will be back. Will recommend. Friendly bartenders and service.

Everything was delicious! Cute little spot for drinks and good food. the yellow submarine caught my attention as we drove past, after looking it up on google maps we decided to drive back for lunch.
The blood mary was perfect, I had asked for it not to be too strong.

We ordered a bunch of shareable apps and enjoyed every single one of them. The Deconstructed Beef Wellington could have used a little more seasoning but it was still yummy. Baked clams were excellent, Shrimp basket was great, Teriyaki Tuna Tidbits is a must try - it was my favorite.

Overall I would highly recommend this place to friends and family.
