Top Sports bars in Cape Town, South Africa

The food was average, I requested a NON spicy with low fat meat and i double checked on the chef himself, however he made it too spicy with almost 80% fat and 20% pure meat..it was the worst experience in cape town

We were recommended Mofire by our Ghanian colleague for a staff dinner and we were not disappointed. The music was great, the hospitality was good (there were about 25 of us so lots to do), and the food was exquisite! Definitely a hidden gem in Salt River that will prove to offer a wholesome and entertaining experience.

Good service, fair prices for good portions of food. Cool ambiance with a very local atmosphere.

Absolutely shocking venue. I have been in here a few times just for a quick beer and then left. Well priced drinks and nothing too fancy, which is nice for a change. No complaints, really other than not a lot of room to sit.

However, I went here the other night, and the geriatric bar lady was ridiculous. Arrived at 19H00. The bar was fairly quiet, with most of the other patrons sitting on stools at the bar. I approached the bar and made eye contact with the old bar lady, and gave a quick wave in greeting. She looked at me for a second or two and went back to sitting on her phone in the corner of the bar. Ignoring myself and my partner. Waited another minute or two. She noticed me and still ignored me. Eventually, we walked all the way to the other end of the bar where she was sitting, playing some brain-dead game on her phone to order our drinks.

I was barman myself for many years. If someone approaches the bar, you approach them and serve them. Where she was seated in the corner, people were seated at the bar, making it difficult to squeeze in and order.

Last time I will be going here.

TL;DR: Not a lot of seating, kak music, rude geriatric bar lady, and slot machines.

A place not to be missed if you are looking for traditional African cuisine and a good local atmosphere. The food is delicious and plentiful and the staff is very very friendly. Fully remarkable.

Had to wait for 1h, after being told it was going to take 25min for the food, not waiter's fault but kitchen is unorganized and give preference to friends that goes there to drink. Then 15min to pay as the card machine wasn't working

Love this pub.. the people are friendly and for those who like the gambling machines.. they do have.

I am new to Cape Town and came across Mofire on a visit. I was super impressed with how I was welcomed. I ordered fish from the menu. It was by far the best I had. Compliments to the chef. I will visit again.

Awesome spot for some delicious west African food and appropriately sized beers. The owner and waitress were both very sweet. Can't go wrong with poisson braisé or egusi/fufu! Hoping to come back for some ndolé in the future 🤞

My favourite place to have a sneaky brandy. Friendly staff, Great prices, decent TV coverage to see the sport of the day.

Don’t let the review fool you, this is a whites only spot! The service and people are horrible. Racist all around! Today was accused of being EFF because I’m black. When I was leaving the manager grabbed my drink from my hands saying I shouldn’t leave with them, I did not have a problem with that but I would have wanted her to asked me and I would have agreed. When I retaliated from this woman putting her hands on me, I was attacked by the patriots (whites). Black people pleas stay away from this place. It’s a racist zone! And to think me an my bf thought we have found a peaceful escape from load-shedding 😔

So this response below was just for show, nothing happened after them making contact with me. If you are black just avoid this place period

Been going to this Pub since before it was built. Sadly, these day's it's not the same anymore. Some staff member's attitude leaves a lot to be desired. Don't mind music, but it would be nice to watch some "live sport" with "sound" for a change. It is a "sport's bar" after all? But it's local, the drinks are very reasonably priced, it has Wi-Fi, gaming, pool or darts and the patrons are very friendly...

Use to be a awesome place to chill seen its few streets away from our home. On more than one occasion they claimed to be closed before their stated trading hours.I am not a drinker and because I mostly play slots, we often told the gambling machines are off and/or the pub is closed. Even though its full of people and the machines are visibly on. I was there 30mins ago to be told the same story.

In 2018 I also had a problem of being told to sign machine pay booklet, before the payment was made.The older gentleman then forgot to give the money and when i asked about it he claimed he gave it to me. If the other patrons had not witnessed the whole indecent and defended me, i would not have recieved any money.

Great bar to be, inexpensive, live sports, pool table and slot machines for those who feel like luck is on their side.
