This place is awesome! Great beer menu and fantastic food. I had the brie and goat cheese chicken wrap and it was so so good. I sat at the bar and had a flight that included the house Pilsner, lager and IPA and a local stout. The house beers were better than a lot of other breweries I’ve visited by far. And you get free popcorn; who doesn’t love that?!

It's our favorite neighborhood bar when we go to Portland. We're from Atlanta and although we are not their "typical regulars", the one lady Bartender served as host, waitress and Bartender--with the friendly help of regular customers. She worked seamlessly with great energy. How amazing to see someone who loves their job -even when no one else was working, except the cook! We'll keep coming back for the good food and the warm, friendly atmosphere!
Just stopped by for a quick beer 🍻 sat down next to the owner John and had a great conversation. Definitely would recommend grabbing a few drinks here. Mahalo 🤙🤙🤙
I have been coming here for years off and on. Sure, it's a dive bar, sure there are homeless people hanging outside sometimes but overall it's a good place. The drinks are decent and the food is what you call ' hit the spot '.

Came in yesterday for 2 concerts. This is easily the best spot. Kate was super cool and the owners were great with providing us with some spots to eat outside of the bar and in the town. Im not sure where all these bad reviews are from but this is the spot to go for drinks and sports games with a smaller local feel. Definitely going back
Waited an hour for our appetizers to be served and two hours for our to go order. The to go orders took so long one of our party had to leave and go get dinner elsewhere. When the to-go food finally came out and after we took it home, the food itself was disgusting! The soup we ordered was spilled in the bag, and the sandwiches looked like they were thrown into the containers like a big pile of slop in addition, some of the lettuce was rotten....gross! One of the to go salads was suppose to have medium-well steak, however what was served was semi raw steak, it looked like it had been cook for 5 minutes. When we went back to discuss this with the owner, his comment on the steak was "I would eat it!," from the look of this man, he would eat the steak if he had found it on the ground while he was out for a walk! The owner was rude, obnoxious, disrespectful and tried to blame his poor service and awful food quality on us, his customers. Instead of a refund, he offered a $50 gift card to come back to eat more of his disgusting food. Unfortunately, Portland Ale House does not live up to the same standard of the long time Portland Restaurant. If you're looking for a place to eat in Portland, go anywhere else!
I came by with my mom and sister on Thursday, 6/20 about 2pm. We were greeted with a positive and upbeat hostess who sat us immediately. Our server was Wendy. She was such an awesome server that we all connected with at the first interaction! After chatting with Wendy, we ordered some lunch. The food was great and came out pretty quickly. My sister gout a sandwich with the tater tots, which I highly recommend - they were so crunchy and delicious! My mom, who doesn't eat much as she's 82, ate a half of a steak and cheese grinder! We were very happy with that. I just had the French Onion soup, which was stellar and very hot! But the interactions with Wendy were so awesome as we had some things in common with her. We were showing our dogs from our phone. lol All I can say is that the next time we go to the Portland Ale House, I hope Wendy is working! She made our experience there absolutely wonderful. Thanks Wendy!! :)

I had the Turkey Reuben. It was scrumptious, full of flavor, well composed! I can see why a foodie had recommended this place.

Fantastic place. Stopped by on a whim when picking up my wife from work. Food was great. Drinks were perfectly chilled. We will definitely be back for more food when we're not on a time crunch!
OMG! The Tabor burger is so delicious! So worth the hour drive! The fries are fresh cut and delicious as well.

We stumbled on this place after shopping at Portland Nursery. The bacon jam on the burger was superb! Yum. But the fries were disappointing; they were soggy. There has to be a way they can get them crispier. And what's up with serving RC cola and not diet coke which is what I like with my burger? I loved sitting outside on a beautiful day even if the traffic on Burnside is a bit noisy. I would definitely return but not ordering fries again.
This is my kinda place. Good people, proper drinks, and solid burgers. You encounter the gambit of portland here, but I've met some folks who have become great friends at this weird Portland hole in the wall.

I cannot believe what I experienced during my recent visit to this place. I had frequented it a few times in the past for drinks, but this time my friends and I decided to treat ourselves to a meal to celebrate the end of the week. It was a Thursday evening, and after work, we were eager to unwind and enjoy some food. I opted for a beet and quinoa salad with shrimp and feta, while my friend ordered a shrimp cocktail. Little did we know, that decision would lead to a horrifying dining experience.
When our meals arrived, we were utterly appalled by the state of the shrimp. Instead of the normal sized shrimp (like 2 or 4 of them) that we expected, they served us these tiny, slimy canned shrimp that looked and smelled raw and rancid. It was revolting! I paid $15 for my salad with a $4.97 upcharge for the shrimp, and my friend spent $8 on his dish. But what we got was far from worth it.
I tried my best to salvage my meal by picking around the shrimp, but I couldn't bring myself to finish it for fear of getting sick. My friend couldn't even bear the smell of his dish, let alone eat it. It was a nightmare. How could they serve something so utterly repulsive?
I feel like they should have at least warned us that they don't use real shrimp. It's false advertising at its worst. The staff didn't bother to check on us or ask us how how meal was. I can't blame them entirely, but it's still unacceptable.

Love a good Tavern and Tabor Tavern is no exception. The atmosphere when we went was very quiet and comfortable, with their many booths. The staff is relaxed and friendly but still attentive. I feel like this is important when you are just looking for a relaxed vibe eating some fish and chips with a tasty stout.
Hands down the best when it comes to fish and chips portion size. As a tall guy who can eat his fair share of food, this alone will have me coming back. The food itself hits the spot.

Witnessed a disabled veteran with a service dog get kicked out because of his service dog. Spoke to the owner, John, about the situation and he spoke to me with profanity and defended his actions. Will never step foot in this establishment again
The Portland Ale House in Middletown, CT is a gem of a spot! Not only is the food absolutely delicious, but the atmosphere is also incredibly fun. One of the coolest features is that you can color on the tables while you wait for your meal – a quirky touch that adds to the overall experience. From mouthwatering burgers to flavorful wings, there's something on the menu for everyone. Plus, the staff is friendly and attentive, making you feel right at home. DING DONG we have a 5 Star Champion! - This was a fantastic find. We ate three different sandwiches and they were all outstanding. Service was very friendly and the atmosphere was cosy and welcoming. Definitely the best Sandwich on this trip
The Virginia Cafe is what you would expect from a dive bar. The people are a mix of some rough customers to business people. The food is decent, nothing exceptional but not bad. You can totally have a meal and feel satisfied but not have a dish that you would go out of your way to get. The staff, they're not rude, but they're definitely not going to yell Norm if you walk through the door. They do their job, and nothing more. Without said, I frequently stopped but usually stay less than a half hour. It's really not one of those places that you want to stay in linger. It's more about just grabbing a drink and some food and moving on. If I have visitors coming from town I do not say that this is the place to go, but it is a place that I feel comfortable using as a layover

Shoutout to that guy that asked if everything was “wonderful, delicious, and amazing”. Your positivity was a saving grace.

The guy at the bar was super chill and friendly. Got good vibes from him. Keep up the good work guy! Even checked if I was "ok" after just ordering fries and water. Truth is, I was just craving a walk and some late night fries after a couple beers elsewhere. 🤣
Nice and dark. Like the coffee they served me..😋 VP room is a hallway and consists of 4 machines. Bathrooms are one step away from needing a needle disposal box. Friendly and efficient staff.

It has been over a year since my last visit to the Goose Hollow Inn, and it's as good as it was before. I worked in the neighborhood for 30+ years, and this place served me many lunches and beers (after work).
It's good when the food tastes like you remember it too. I went with a Goose Hollow staple, a Ruben sandwich, and a side of their delicious ranch dressing to dip my carrots in. And you can't forget the house made potato salad which is very good too. I think I've had everything on the menu, and it's all good.
There are a few parking spots on site and a few visitor parking spots on the street where permits are required for the Goose Hollow neighborhood. Their deck is covered with heaters, which provides more seating.

The food was off the charts delicious, and the vibe was so chill. The place felt super welcoming and was just the place to be for a burger on a rainy Portland night. From the mouthwatering menu to the friendly staff, it's a spot I'd hit up again without a doubt.
Literally stole my money. Got a shipyard smash burger and the mozzarella appetizer and a water, tipped 20% Charged over $100. This is theft.

First off, let me say that the first time I encountered The Leaky Roof was when I had to find a restroom that would accommodate a gaggle of 12-year-old girls after a local club soccer match several years ago. The restaurant to my surprise didn't bat an eye.
Fastforward to today: Leaky Roof is my go-to anytime I'm in PDX for brunch or pre-Timbers-match food. Food is consistently delicious (I recommend the potato cakes) and the cocktails are spot-on. The atmosphere is that of a cozy local pub - where everyone may not know your name but friendly faces abound. Oh, and they are still as nice as that one fateful Saturday afternoon. :-)

Suggestion for Bethany Public House: Chicken Tortilla Soup is NOT Green, NOT pureed, NOT void of tomatoes and chicken, with a heaping handful of shredded tortilla chips on top. Better title for Soup of the Day "Mystery Creamy Green Soup" (made with whatever ingredients we had in our kitchen after the ice/snow storm).
I have come here many times over the years and I am always pleasantly surprised by how much fun I have every time. The bartenders are kind, down to earth, and friendly. The atmosphere is very country, but in that fun way, and it's a place to go to dance. And the drinks are phenomenal. On my most recent visit I was drawn in by the Toasted Marshmellow Espresso Martini advertised on the special board outside and I was not disappointed!
I was in town for a day to catch a flight home and was fortunate to stumble upon this beautifully, unassuming, and cozy establishment. To my delightful surprise, my taste buds were treated to a lovely and hearty breakfast. The staff were great, the regulars were kind and helpful, and I would 100% return here.
Atmosphere was cozy and dark, I find this to be romantic and that is actually hard to find. I appreciate the speakeasy feel. Service and staff was attentive and friendly. Late night snack of Truffle fries was the perfect size for two to share. The cocktail I ordered was not something I enjoyed, not because it was bad, I went outside my comfort zone with a 50% success rate, next time! I would recommend others to try the cocktais. Loved this place. My lady and I had a great time. Went on a Wednesday night so it wasn't packed. My favorite part was the bartenders. They were both super cool, friendly, and took great care of us. The only negative I could possibly say is that they need a cleaning service. Bathrooms were both disgusting. Lots of spider webs all over and the mirror behind the bar had a layer of dried lime juice about an inch thick. If they did a big clean up I would certainly go to 5 stars. Despite my last comments I would still highly recommend! (Unless someone in your party is in a wheelchair. Pretty sure no handicap entrance.)
Good food. Lots of old photos of area on walls. Only minus was french fries. Thin with skin on got limp quickly. Maybe heat in oven before serving? Great place to go. Would go back.
Super cool spot. Cool, spooky atmosphere and friendly service. My husband enjoyed his Old Fashions (with smoked orange peel!) and I appreciated that they offered an NA cocktail list, some with NA spirits. One fun feature: they have old, food pedal-controlled sinks in the bathrooms!
Been here a few times, and Tabor Tavern never disappoints. Hearty American fare in a dark cozy pub type atmosphere. You might not have to wait if you get there early. The burger has always been good, but today I opted for the fish n chips because it was recommended. Big piece of haddock with malt aioli. Very tasty, and the cole slaw was actually good. I started with the available soup today, Cheesy Potato Jalapeno... was so good and spicy. Really enjoyed the meal tonight, and the service was excellent.
So glad I decided to stop in Leaky Roof. Visiting from out of state. They exceeded my expectations in every way. Warm, welcoming, and relaxed environment.

While inside the Portland ME airport terminal we had a choice between this place, Burger King and lobster. We've had plenty of lobster and not into Burger King so this was our choice. Ordered the quesadilla and chicken tenders. Chicken tenders were very good. French fries could have been a little more crispy. Quesadilla was too mushy. Needed to be crisped up a little bit longer.
When you're at the airport and in a captive food audience scenario, this is not a bad place to go. Note: Managed by airport HMS Food Services. They have a standing 15% discount for all military so if you are military don't forget to use it!

They were out of all chicken for their sandwiches when we went mid day for lunch. Instead we got the chicken sausages. The maine blueberry was really good, not too sweet. Pickles that came with it were good
Ok. I have traveled extensively around the country (47 out of 50 states). I live here in Portland and this is my go to spot for chicken and waffles. I have not found a better place to have them than this one. The staff ( Kenna , a server, and the GM Andy) are awesome and know my order without me saying anything. Doesn't hurt that I've ordered the same thing the last 10 times but still 🙂 . You will not regret coming here so do so as soon as possible. Great spot.

Great food, terrible waitress. We nearly missed our flight because the waitress would not bring us our tab after several requests. Also didn’t get our water until 15 minutes, waitress forgot to add bacon to my burger. We requested the tab as soon as we got our food and I told her our flight boarded soon. She ignored us and went at sat by the bar. I had to being my card to her and tell her we were leaving and we could either pay or leave. I’d give one star if the food was bad, but it wasn’t.
Airport restaurants are usually not great. But we enjoyed our meal. Impossible burger for my daughter was yummy!
Stopped in for a quickish drink at this Portland bar. Beer was cold and tasty. I had the Tubular which was sufficiently hoppy for a craft IPA, and the appetizers we ordered were great. There was live music and the vibe was certainly fun. Next time I go, I will definitely make it a priority to try more of the menu...specifically the BBQ sampler and at least something from the hit dog/sausage menu.
We were recommended this spot for their dog friendliness. The spot was fantastic and the food was tasty. Remember to ask for bread if you get the the sampler. The sausages were very tasty.
It's everything you ever wanted from a speakeasy. You could walk by and not even know it's there. You walk down some dark stairs of a brick tunnel to the basement that looks like it's been around a couple hundred years. Bottles line the walls. Friendly bartenders with a straightforward menu. You want to tell all your friends about this great place you found, but decide to keep this one to yourself.
Constantly reinventing itself, Bramhall offers ambiance, creative drinks and solid eats. Perfect for a date spot, an outing with friends or colleagues or just a night out for a drink. Summer time offers outdoor seating in the back and they’re always figuring out the next thing! Check them out. By the way, the Buffalo wings are a hidden gem! Best in the state, in a spot you’d never expect!

Great service, food, and atmosphere! We had the popcorn shrimp and buffalo wings both dairy free, both delicious. Tried the specialty cocktails with Wild Roots vodka and they were both so refreshing. We came on a Saturday when they had live music and it was great! Made a great summer night :-)
They claim to be the best Reuben and they do a pretty good job delivering. I'm not a huge fan of Reubens but I figured I better try it and it was pretty good. Potato salad that came with it was decent. Decent selection of drinks. Made for a really good lunch visit with friends out on the patio. I could tell there were a lot of regulars.

Came here with friends after the fireworks show in Middletown. The first thing I noticed was that the outside of the restaurants was illuminated with lights. Also, there were a few seats outside. The inside of the establishment is small but cozy. You will see the bar once entering. At the time, it was not busy. My group needed a table for 7 people, but the staff seemed to struggle to get us seated. Once we were finally seated, complimentary popcorn was given to our table. We order food, drinks, and dessert. I forgot to catch images of the food, but the nachos can easily be shared. The Warm Belgium Waffle was delicious, and the ribs were a bit dry. In addition, I heard the mac and cheese was good. The waiter easily separated our bill. The kitchen is open until 10 pm on the weekday and 11 pm on the weekend.
It was an awesome stop while visiting downtown Portland. All made in house.

I've been here so many times I've lost count. Great staff and owners, excellent food and service. The sausages are excellent. I usually end up grabbing an Icelandic and Chicago dog but great selection of choices. Also the beer menu is nice and well rounded. Atmosphere is fun, love enjoying an ice cold beer on the patio area in the Summertime.
What a breath of fresh air this little north tabor tavern is! The food is exactly what you’d expect at a tavern…amazing burgers, crazy good kale salads, muscle dishes and classics like Mac n cheese, chicken dishes. The atmosphere is warm and inviting, staff is friendly and attentive AND I come back every time I’m in town without fail. My sister received a gift card so margaritas for all!!
Artisan sausage/hot dog establishment with a killer craft beer list. Obviously, this is a pretty focused client list, BUT, if you like sausage/hot dogs, craft beer, and a great laid back atmosphere, you really can't do much better. Great deck in the back for the odd wonderful Maine weather day. Will definitely be back.
I've been here a few times and everyone is really nice. The bartender Steve is a complete gentleman and is very nice as well.
Best Reuben sandwich in town. Quaint dive-bar feel. Limited off-street parking. No oranges 🍊 for drinks so they won’t make you an old fashioned, even though the original old fashioned drink recipe didn’t call for an orange peel. Draft beer & low brow wine selection.
A friend of mine lives near this restaurant and recommended we go there for dinner. It is a neighborhood tavern serving mainly burgers, sandwiches, and salads. It was a nice evening, so we sat outside on one of their sidewalk picnic tables. The food was good, as was their service. They have a small parking lot which was full, so we ended up parking nearby on the street. This is a great spot for casual dining.
My wife and I have been wanting to come here ever since it opened. Seeing they had fried mushrooms made it a MUST! They had a nice assortment of beer taps and plenty of seating at the bar as well as tables. We had to start with the fried mushrooms and they were super yummy; a little salty, but still very tasty. I ordered the ale house burger and my wife ordered the bacon avocado burger on/as a salad (no bun). My burger was great and my wife's salad was fantastic. We plan on going back very soon!
This place has been around for a while now. We stopped by for just a quick drink or two to help with our thirst. We were pretty much the only ones here and sat at the bar. The place is smaller and has video lottery. The bartender was nice and quick with our drinks. Overall, it was a good experience.
This is the only bad Reuben I've had in New England and I eat a lot of Reubens. The corned beef is thick, extremely tough, and rubbery. I don't like complaining but it's very hard to understand how anyone could think is a sandwich people will want to spend money on.
Epic bar with a country theme serving up great drinks! Located on the iconic Wharf St, you can easily bar hop down one of my favorite streets in Portland. If you’re a country fan, this is your spot. They play all the latest country hits plus the classics. I love the vibe in here, especially the seating. You’ve got saddle stools (never seen those before lol) and a swinging booth. Service is great too.
Wow. We popped in just before they got busy for lunch. Zero complaints. One super busy, fantastic person playing hostess, waiting tables and running the bar. They did a spectacular job as the lunch crowd began to grow.

This burger was juicy, flavorful, and each item on their own had wonderful flavor, but when all eaten together, swoon worthy! The pub bun held up well as the juices increased with each bite. Hubby liked the Reuben and said you could tell the corned beef was fresh and was one of the best Reubens he’s ever had-if not the best. The fries were pretty good as well with the right amount of crunch and seasonings. We did not try any house cocktails, just simply because we weren’t in the mood today.

Been wanting to try here since they opened, love to check out all the local spots and since this is walkable we definitely wanted to go here, and it did not disappoint. So delicious. We got a variety of things to get a full experience, cheese curds, fried pickles, loaded tots, burgers, dogs. Everything was wonderful, my favorite thing was the variety of sauces. So much dipping sauces. Best part. And we of course had to sample the dessert menu, mud pie, apple tart, and cannolis. Service was great, fast and polite. 10/10 will go again. Also the table is a giant paper to color on, so super.kid friendly, and complementary popcorn is served on the table when seated, the best kind of prefood snack.
A hidden gem on Congress. It's a basement lounge/bar but has some amazing cocktails and yummy bar eats. They also have a full meal menu during the dinner hours. Service is swift and friendly. The space is definitely darker and basement like but has lots of charm and plenty of elbow room. You also won't find it to be too loud or obnoxiously chaotic. I love this place so much.
Came in for a quick lunch and did not disappoint. The food was absolutely fantastic and the service was great. Will definitely be back!
Everything here looked amazing. The halibut fish and chips with a wedge salad were delicious. They have a really good happy hour weekdays till five. Would be a great place and deal for lunch!
Great food and good prices during happy hour. We enjoyed both the beer and each of the appetizer items that we received. The fish-and-chips are a really nice smaller meal.
The bartender was very good at her job, quick able to multitask n keep things in motion. The issue for us was the impatience she displayed. I understand being busy as I was in the restaurant business bartending & serving for over 25 years, but that’s not my fault and within 5 minutes of my interaction with her I felt I ruined her day. I asked about the menu and since she was pressed for time, she rushed through it and when I didn’t understand she sighed and reluctantly started again with a “F@&k this” tone. She was working hard but needs to manage her emotions better at work. Also $2.99 extra for guacamole with the lobster nachos that were $25.. look at the lobster they put and the 2oz guacamole
First visit. Stopped in for a quick beer. Cozy place but pretty cool. Decided to get the fries for a snack. They were AMAZING with the fry sauce. I'd give 5 stars but they were out of the Irish red beer we wanted to try. Staff was super friendly.
Decent fries. The problem was it took an hour and a half to get them.... We sat down when the place was nearly empty, ordered, then the place got busy and our initial server completely ignored us. We got our order only after almost everyone that came in after had left asking for it twice. We were really chill about it since we weren't in a huge rush, but it is frustrating that they didn't apologize or own up to it. Not cool.
So this place has a fun country bar theme. Chairs are all different themes. However, the service could have been a bit better. The bartender wasn’t educated on her beer, she took some time to even greet us, and when on the patio we were left to fend for ourselves for more drinks. Music was good, place was clean, but overall, 3 stars only from us.
Shipyard Brew Pub is the best restaurant in the Portland International Jetport. Fast, friendly, and efficient staff. The food is much bigger and better than your usual airport pub. I really enjoyed the classic cheeseburger and fries. Great choice of craft beer, cocktails, and wine too.
It's actually a nice place for dinner/happy hour. The food is typical pub food, but if you need a quick stop in the Bethany neighborhood, then you should definitely go. Surprisingly the green beans were pretty good!
Great place for dinner, lunch or drinks. They have a great selection of local craft beers on draft and a full bar. Food is very good. Had the Fish and chips today. They were excellent. Staff is very friendly and helpful.
The food was so wonderful and our waitress was amazing! Sweet potato fries, onion rings, and honey mustard was out of this world. The bacon bleu burger with the black bean patty and the tuna melt with Sriracha were to die for. I always wanted to go here because the food looked so good and I was not dissapointed! 10/10 would come again. Nice people, cool pub atmosphere and parking was easy!
Good Pub with laid back, open areas and multiple TV's for Sports. Fair selection of Brews mixed with good flavorful foods. I highly recommend their Happy Hour and Appetizers...especially the Brussels Sprouts and Calamari. Pricing isn't bad for the area.
