Great little theatre, with a nice and reasonably priced bar. Very helpful and attentive staff. Show was brilliant and seats excellent. Would recommend and attend again!

An excellent and well maintained old school theatre and cinema with a modern feel and atmosphere. Extremely clean and well presented building. Within this place is a brilliant food and drink establishment called the eat me cafe and social, which serve excellent food, snacks and beverages. The staff in the cafe are a credit to their employers, very polite, helpful and extremely efficient. I will be back.

Watched a National Theatre Live performance. It was great. The venue has a very old fell to it. Really enjoyed myself there.

Lovely venue, comprising of restaurant, round theatre. And a cinema. Fantastic experience watching the fake beatles. The whole experience was really amazing .

A traditional seaside town cinema - charming, with 'wingback' armchairs in the foyer, but with cinema screen seats also, sadly, from a bygone era...

Visited for afternoon film today. Excellent quality sound, brilliant picture quality and above all took me back to the experience of a cinema I remember 40 years ago. Would definitely recommend. Only visiting Scarborough for a few days but will return again.

Great experience, could do with some modernising but it’s all part of the charm. As watching the film goes the pictures and sound are both great quality. Only thing I would add (I never asked the staff about it so I’ll keep the review at 5 stars in case there was somthing they could have done) I went to see I film with my 4 year old who barely weighs enough to keep the seat down, I was having to hold it down most of the film. Overall great experience and will be returning

First time to this theatre and was i impressed with the whole experience. Great layout of seating so that everyone has a good view, great front of house service and excellent show,saw the 39 steps, which was thoroughly entertaining. Reasonably priced, keep up the good work SJT team!

Great little theatre. We watched Blonde Bombshells, and i can only give it 5 stars! Was a brilliant show! And the food in the restaurant was outstanding! Our server called Rachel was awesome, so friendly xx

We had the best experience of theater here, watching "39 Steps". The cast were amazing & we just got caught up in the hilarious story! Thank you Stephen Joseph Theatre team!

Went to SJT for the first time in quite a long while to see THE 39 STEPS....it was excellent.... an unusual take on a classic book and film. The humour was a light touch and superbly executed...well done. Being a theatre in the round, you do get up close and personal to the actors, who were all exceptional. The theatre itself is neat ,tidy... a super foyer, bar, shop, and eatery. A classic 1930s style Art Deco exterior. Well worth a visit, a great reintroduction to the theatre for us.....we're booking to see the Blonde Bombshell production in August.

Cinema like it's 1923! Really cool decor, super friendly staff. My husband REALLY liked the intermission scene (badly pictured by me). I particularly liked the carpets. Our kid especially liked being let out into a secret passage. Our other kid thought we were all a bit strange and concentrated on the film - which she enjoyed. It's maybe not as lux as some cinemas but definitely has a lot of other things going for it. Don't go changing Hollywood Plaza, you are a doll!

The Stephen Joseph Theatre is a really nice place to experience live theatre.
It's a striking Art Deco building (formerly a cinema), and the main performance space is 'theatre in the round', with comfortable seats, and good views and acoustics.

First visit to this theatre and loved it. I've been to its twin theatre in Stoke the New Vic and love theatre in the round. Comfortable seats with good views. Ease of access and plentiful facilities. Fresh water supplied. Should have booked for theatre food as it was fully booked ( good sign) as it rated in good place to eat. Excellent evening

We came to see Constant Companions last night and loved it! Excellent script, acting, costumes and set. It was very funny but also made you think. We would highly recommend it.

Absolutely love that this cinema still exists and is run by such lovely people. For pure nostalgia alone, this place is worth checking out, I hope to return here year after year.
The fact that I live over 3 hrs drive away would not bother me about coming to view a screening here, I love this place!!

Wow I loved this place. It was like stepping back in time when I went through the doors. I was holidaying and thought I would go to the cinema. The latest James Bond film was on.
I was shown a plan of the seating and asked where I would like to sit. It was really busy. I went up the steps and was shown to my seat.
The seats were like they were back in the 1950's red velvet, and nowhere to put your drink. There was a stage with red curtains pulled, where you could see the screen behind them.
A young man came selling sweets etc at the end of each row, from a wooden box. I loved it. The place filled up and the film began. There wasn't a sound from that audience.
What a fabulous night. If you live local go to.it, if you visit Scarborough make it a must. Loved it!

Lovely traditional cinema with 1 screen, showing all the latest films 7 days a week. Seats can be booked online. Great picture and sound. Ticket prices reasonable, as are the sweets and drinks on offer from the snack bar. Now operating a one way system, where you leave by the exits at the side of the screen after the film. I love the charm of these traditional cinemas and would chose to watch films here rather than the big chains given the choice.

Old, dated, not very comfortable seats. You can't prebook tickets, which is very frustrating. Friendly enough staff and the main auditorium is beautiful.
