Awesome place full of local artwork for sale. Very diverse and cool selection.

Elsa was awesome! She patiently and gladly read a book, face painted, coronated, sang and danced, and participated in singing happy birthday. We are so grateful you helped us make our daughter’s birthday dreams come true! Thank you!

The owners of the space are extremely friendly and knowledgeable. The gallery supports a selected collection of local artists’ work.
Prices in general are affordable meeting a wide range of taste and budges.

This was such a great experience for my daughter! She was so shocked and felt so special to have Elsa at her party! Definitely recommend. Our Elsa was so great with the kids and they all loved every second she was here!

We had a beautiful experience with Chattanooga princess parties. Our party was with Ariel and my daughter thought she was absolutely lovely! The kids did stories and songs with Ariel and she took time to talk with my daughter and make her feel special on her birthday. An added bonus is that she looks very similar to Ariel at Disney World in Cinderella’s castle!!! We had made a Disney trip recently, and my daughter feels that the real Ariel came to her birthday!!! 😂 Thank you for making my daughter’s birthday magical!!

Such an awesome experience and a real gem to the Chattanooga community. You will be hard pressed to find a more passionate community of musicians that not only spends a tremendous amount of time preserving music and music history, but ones that are encouraging the youth in music. Absolutely love this place and highly recommend it to anyone!

We are new to Chattanooga and came to an Improv Chattanooga show. It was amazing.! We will definitely be back for Improv and other shows!

Such a fun experience for my little girl! Princess Belle and Sleeping Beauty came to her birthday party and made her day so special! 5 stars all around!!

It's always a good experience at Wednesday Night Jazz!

Everywhere you turn there's something different. One of those few galleries where I could have bought at least three things. Even a casual stroll through is just fun!

We booked Anna and Elsa for my daughter’s fifth birthday party. All of the little girls loved the event. Anna and Elsa were fabulous with the kids. Several of the parents even wanted the information on how to book them as well. I would highly recommend Chattanooga Princess Parties as they were super into character, which makes it more magical for the kids. I’d leave higher than five stars if I could!

5 stars for room, and location. 3 stars for service because although staff could not have been nicer, room service food was not hot, received in lined paper box, with no plates, salmon was dry, medium cooked steak was a bit tough with only flimsy plastic utensils given to cut/eat with. Also, busy night at hotel with noisy guests so difficulty falling and staying asleep.

Saw Crawlspace last night with my husband and some friends. We really enjoyed it!

I cannot say enough good things about this experience . First of all, we purchased a party LAST YEAR, and had to cancel due to illness, and they honored it one year later. Our princess was so great with kids and it will go down as one of the best birthday parties ever. Highly recommend Chattanooga princess parties!!!

I'm from Chattanooga and I know Bessie Smith's history and so it's a really good place to go. It's a nice museum but the thing I like best is they let us use it with the Union Gospel mission each year handing out food to the homeless in downtown Chattanooga. This year well over 450 meals were handed out and that was just in the first 90 minutes. This is the best Sue Smith Hall and take the tour because it's really cool and while you're at it donate a few bucks for the United Gospel mission. They help so many people with their rehab program and really do a lot to help a community.

Marriott is my brand of choice when I travel because they are consistently good. So I am a little harder on them when I rate. This location is average for Marriott. Good, not exceptional. This was a convention stay and they managed the crowd well.

Went to a convention here and everything was amazing. We stayed on the 14th floor and got a great view. The service was excellent and so was the restaurant. Staff was friendly and went above and beyond expectations for our needs.

This is a must stop for everyone visiting downtown Chattanooga. It is local art like you’ve never seen. It is the heart and soul of Tennessee. Keeli (pictured here) is the best of curators

Tucked away in Ridgedale, Chattanooga is an intimate community/neighborhood theater with an eclectic vibe of arts and artists from all over.

I'm not sure how to begin, but as a former employee of Marriot, I was highly disappointed with the service. The bar staff could definitely be friendlier to start off. Doesn't take much to be nice. Staff should not be telling patrons that food will be an hour if they plan on eating. That should fall on management when allowing patrons to order. Servers/bartenders dropped off our food without utensils or napkins, nor did they ever come back to check on us. I could add a few more details, but I think it provides enough to get a clear picture of the level of customer service provided here.
This is definitely not a place I would recommend, especially for the price. At these prices for food and hotel, customer service should be outstanding!

Service was great, staff was mostly friendly and fast. The location was nice, close to some local restaurants and shops. The idea of a barn door that doubles as a close door and bathroom door needs a second thought. The door has a glass pain and there is only one set of lights to the bathroom so when you turn them on they reflect off the mirror outside of the bathroom to the whole room. Change something better to make that a better experience please.

The museum was filled with so much history on the area. I enjoyed all the exhibits. I've visited many African American Museums and this one has so much content. I can't say enough about how impressed I was with the information presented on the African American and Indian Heritages in the area. As a visitor, I understood so much more about the names and places I was touring and visiting after coming to this museum. The curator was there and he answered some questions I had. The receptionist was so helpful too. The gift shop had really good and quality items. I purchased several items. Probably one of the best gift shops I've seen in a museum this size. The museum is clean, bathrooms clean, staff is friendly and knowledgeable. Everything was well presented and of museum caliber. I highly recommend this excursion if you are visiting Chattanooga.

Extremely hospitable staff, and very clean rooms. Beds are soft and comfy for a solid night's sleep. Really couldn't hear any activities in the rooms surrounding ours. So it made for a very quiet pleasant stay. Absolutely loved the rooftop saltwater pool. The only thing that makes this hotel a four out of five star establishment was the bathroom door. It's on a sliding track that opens the bathroom while closing the closet. The door was completely broken off track. Its extremely heavy and really took a lot of effort to adjust it into the middle of the track. Just so we could have access to the closet, and bathroom. The mounting piece was completely broke off, and would have been quite obvious to the maintenance, and cleaning staff prior to our stay. Which tells me that they ignored this while being completely aware of the issue prior to our stay. However I still would highly recommend this hotel.

Such a Great place to receive a personal experience with artistry and entertainment. Welcoming and accommodating, inclusive and cozy. You'll be extra comfortable if you a hand fan 😉 EnJoy

Elsa did an amazing job and made our daughters birthday magical. Everyone of the kids loved her. We had such a great experience that we will definitely be booking again.

I have been in this facility multiple times for several different, some of which were huge and took up both sides of the building with food and people throughout. It is a good event space. I have not been through the museum part of it, but have heard great things. There is a decent amount of parking, but if you have a sizable event, parking may be a challenge.

The only reason I’m giving this a four average is the carpet needs replacing really bad. Front desk great. Bar great. A Marriott that actually validates parking, awesome! Restaurant great. Service all around great. Rooms are great. They need to get on the carpet bad!! Stains and wrinkles.

We had Ariel and rapunzel come for my daughters 6th birthday. It was absolutely amazing!!!! My little girl had a blast! Best birthday party ever!! They made it so magical and fun! I highly highly recommend!! And I hope to get to use them again! 🩷💜

Smaller venue with three sections of about 5 rows. Very intimate place where you can get very close to the artists. Love the cool legs on the exterior of the top of the building.Very reasonable ticket prices. I saw a blues/rock show here, but they also have poetry and other kinds of shows regularly. A definite asset to this part of the community.

My rating is based on my experience with dealing with them on a customer level as well as a professional level.
They are impossible to reach in person by phone, website, Facebook or any other medium.
Easy to buy tickets, but not so easy to get a refund or information on the venue once purchased.
If this is how charity is done; that explains a lot!

Such an awesome experience. Would out on the very top of your list of things to do in Chattanooga! Reviews were mixed so we weren’t really sure what to expect but the museum exceeded our expectations and then some! Beautiful museum-clean, well organized, informative with a lot of interactive exhibits. My 14 year old who’s very into guitars absolutely loved it. He was so intrigued throughout. Said of things we did in Chattanooga (Ruby Falls, Incline Railway, and Rock City) this was by far his favorite. While I’m not as in to music as he is, I also found it interesting and enjoyed the historical knowledge there and learning more about Chattanooga’s history too. Clean, modern space with polite, knowledgeable staff. Lovely bathroom facilities. And can’t beat it for $15! We spent about 3 hours enjoying the museum. I’d recommend allowing at least 2 but honestly, even if you’ve just got an hour it’s worth the visit! Oh, and some other reviews mentioned the vault wasn’t open- it’s open now and it’s super cool!

We saw Slothrust here, very intimate show as the venue is small. Staff was wonderful. Show was incredible. Highly recommend if they are hosting someone you are into.

We absolutely love the pieces we got from Area 61 gallery, especially our custom movie sign. We were from out of state and they made it so easy to get our signs. It was made quickly and shipped extremely well. We can’t wait to hang them up and have them lit!

Need to visit again to read and listen to everything. Needs 3-4 visits to absorb it all. Love the interactive exhibits! The spotify integration is legit and adds a huge layer of depth to the experience. Really a place for music lovers and enthusiasts. An absolute must visit

Definitely worth a visit. I spent about an hour here and enjoyed it immensely. Park out front at a meter for $1/hr

The Chattanooga Coral Society had an OUTSTANDING Performance. Directed by Michael Mitchell, this group is amazing. Today there was a special tribute to Dr. Rowland Carter, world renowned conductor, gave tribute to a truly great man.

Great experience! Slightly smaller than expected however we still spent two and a half hours reading the information and learning about the music scene in Chattanooga as well as all of the great informational exhibits regarding sound, music and the history of some famous players.

While on a research trip I included the Bessie Smith Cultural Center as I passed through Chattanooga. I was so pleasantly surprised at the overall high quality of this exhibit. The timeline, layout, and flow is superb. You start with the Indians on the Trail of Tears accompanied by African Americans and end with Critical Race Theory. You can not get more inclusive than that. The flow of the timeline is logical and natural. The quantity and quality of the displays are great. I took several pics of “learn more” opportunities which I’ve already begun to research. Bring the kids, there is an interactive children area. There is also ample area to sit as you pass through and several video displays to watch. My chance to rest a moment, awesome. At the end there is an African tribal mask display and video as a bonus. Bathrooms are clean and well maintained. Parking is free but there isn’t a ton of it. Pay street parking is all around. I recommend a walk down MLK to enjoy the many murals. The staff was superb and informative. BSCC could be a destination for your family without a doubt!

Nice, but not much to see for the price of a ticket. Apparently, the museum used to have a much larger collection that has been returned to the owners. The exhibit has educational materials on the principles of sound, pick-up and amplification but very limited. Look for a coupon on any promotional maps.

The gallery is very stunning and art work is spectacular! Love the local touch and dedication from the owner. She is extremely passionate about her gallery and it shows in the detail! Please go check it out!

Area 61 is a fabulous gallery featuring the work of local artists creating with fiber, wood, paint, mixed media. You will find face-jug mugs, gorgeous wood speakers for your sound system; even a life-sized alligator to place under your coffee table. Jewelry, paintings, furniture, collage. Fun place to browse or shop. Warm and welcoming owner.

The rich history of achievement and perseverance by African Americans is on full display! Not too crowded and Mrs. Elaine was amazing and well of knowledge. Well with the entrance fee. Don't miss this museum!!💯👌

Very cool experience! We got the general admission tickets so we did the "self-guided" tour. This is an incredible collection of vintage guitars that all made history in some way or another. They have a guided tour if you want that includes other parts of the building, but we enjoyed just walking through their main displays. Highly recommend it, especially if you're a guitar player!

I really enjoyed the new addition. There is so much African American History in there. We need to teach our children about the history in Chattanooga. Bring them here.

This is one of the best guitar places I have been to. Do the tour with Brian. I was lucky enough to be the only one on the tour at that time and learned so much. I showed him my guitar builds and talked a bit more. So glad I went to this Incredible place. I'm bringing the family next time through. Hats off to you all.

Whether you are a musician or just love guitars, this is a must visit place for sure! Large exhibit floor featuring different makes and models from various years. 1800+ guitar collection is rotated every few months in exhibits. Not even counting exhibit specials in the Vault. Plus a small stage available with guitars, microphone and electric drum set for an impromptu jam session. Well worth price of admission!

One of the best places in the Chattanooga area to buy local art. A wide variety of fine art photographs, paintings, sophisticated furniture, 'avant-garde' artwork, jewelry and much more. The owners care about promoting local artists.
