I was a member for 14 years , all the previous comments about lack of leadership, promises not kept, and “board of directors “ aka buddies of the general manager not listening are so true. The clubhouse is old and dated , the men’s locker room has smelled like mildew for years , and course conditions has been on a decline for the last few seasons.
I didn’t have a problem with dues going up , I did have an issue when I discovered a few members are given liberties when it came to getting tee times . They’re apparently able to make tee times two and three weeks out , usually consuming the prime times , also being able to block off 5 concurrent times.
Rules state 7 days in advance no more than 2 concurrent times.
It’s a shame the club would compromise all the other dues paying members to accommodate a certain few. The weekend “lottery” system is also manipulated to appease the group .
Unfortunately, I ended up leaving and joining another club in the area. There’s so much potential at Montgomery CC, however it won’t reach its potential until a total overhaul takes place.

Amazing golf course, greens were great, firm fast and great conditions overall. A hidden gem!! Food was great with plenty of options on tap and drink options. Service was phenomenal, an absolute great value overall. Mike the pro is awesome and had a great conversation with him, looking forward to being back! Place is great!!!!

The one thing keeping most of the members around is the golf course as for the money it used to be good value. But since dues have gone up and the departure of the long time Superintendent, the course conditions continue to get worse by the day. Today is Sunday of the Masters and the pin locations have not been changed in over 3 days, the greens are dying and there is no more first cut. It's absolutely pathetic that the management increases dues on their members but the experience and quality is getting to a point where members are beginning to look elsewhere for a better value -- what Montgomery Country Club used to be.

Montgomery was once a place I’d take friends and family for lunch or dinner, to play a quick 9/18, and to just hang out. This just isn’t the same place anymore. The clubs value was always in the course. Better conditions than other clubs and every public course in the area. That just isn’t the case anymore. Dues continuously go up while course conditions fail to be maintained or improved. The short game area has been promised for years and was exciting to hear about when I joined. Prospective members are told the same details about the same practice facility for the last 6 years with no sign it will ever be completed.
The pro shop staff are great and head pro Mike Grantham, with assistant pro Parker White are great and supportive of the younger “top players” as they continue to want to improve their games.
Unfortunately Fees continue to go up, management has failed to provide promised improvements, and on course conditions are diminishing. This club has been home but it’s not the same Montgomery members have had the opportunity to love and enjoy.

The ownership doesn’t put money into the club but raises dues on a yearly basis. Club leadership is non existent. Lack of staff makes the dinning experience dry frustrating.
Golf course is usually in great shape but the superintendent of over 20 years left recently. Membership doesn’t have a voice. You will always get a corporate answer.
Used to be a good value for a golf membership, but there are better clubs in the area where the value is better.

TL:DR -- No longer the strong value club it once was. Dues continue to rise, while quality and experience continue to fall. Leadership is non-existent and member promises are regularly broken. Look elsewhere for a better experience and value.
As someone who has frequented this club since a very young age and joined as a member a few years back, it is quite sad to see the current state of the club. Montgomery has always been a great value for the money, a relaxed vibe with above average food, and a solid course. But due to a lack of leadership, the club is almost unrecognizable to what it once was. Dues keep going up, promises to members are often broken, while the experience continues to deteriorate.
We have been promised a new practice facility for over 5 years yet nothing has happened, the food quality makes it hard to justify spending the minimum each month, and the course conditions (the main thing MCC had going for it) has dropped since the long time superintendent left.
What members are asking for is not a lot, we simply want the club to care and try to do the basic things well, but that concept seems to be lost in most areas of the club. Aside from the Head Pro, it’s hard to find anyone who will listen to Members, and try to improve the experience for Members that they have some control over. Unfortunately, there is no real way for Members to share opinions, ideas, complaints, or requests — there is no real member board (we are told there is one but they are all friends with the GM) — and whenever we do try and leave feedback we are always met with an excuse as why this or that cannot or has not been done.
The value used to be that MCC would beat other clubs when it came to initiation fee/dues as it is one of the cheapest in the area but it seems as if they are doing everything they can to ensure the experience now matches that lower price point, which is super unfortunate for those of us who remember it for what it once was. But don't take my word for it, stop by and ask any real (non-lifetime) member their thoughts, you won't go too far before you run into someone fed up with what this clubs has to offer (or lack there of).

We have been members for almost 30 years and we don't even play golf! This is an excellent place to bring your kids. Our girls were on Swim team until high school. People are friendly and we enjoy the pool. I've been in the Book Club there for about 10 years. I like the food and have brought numerous friends there for meals. It's a great family place to go. Fireworks are a must!

Been a member for 2 months now. What a great place. The golf course is in excellent condition the staff is friendly and efficient. The pool is maintained very well. They have done a very good job at committing to the social distancing and the virus complications. The restaurant and bar are exceptionally clean and the staff is just fantastic. My wife and I are very happy we joined.
