My child has been complaining about how his teacher has been changing a school experience for children still learning. I’m not trying to get one teacher in trouble but this school needs lots of changing, my child loved last year and now he hates this year so if you can check how teachers are doing things and making the school a kinder place that would mean the best to my child because I’ve also heard today his teacher banned the desk usage and I don’t think that’s fair. They cant put their pencil cases and computers in their desk anymore, the teacher told all the students to turn their desks around and that isn’t fair so what kind of school is this anyway. I will have to tell all my child’s friends who aren’t in his school how bad it is and how they aren’t treating the kids fairly.

The school is truly a part of the community, nested in the middle of the Johnsview neighborhood. The staff are nurturing toward their students doing the best they can with limited resources. I believe that most shortcomings of this school are a result of poor management by the school board.

The school has poor air quality due to lack of proper air flow and contains no air conditioner, fans only. Air conditioning is supposed to be installed in the library for the 2023/2024 school year for classes to rotate on hot days. I've signed my children out of school early to avoid heatstroke, which I've had to deal with previously. Hopefully the library air will help avoid this in the future, but I highly doubt it as some days are hotter than 30 Celsius. Parents have donated window and other portable air con units in the past, but the school has refused to accept them. There may be an issue with lack of electrical power for the units to run, but I've not heard a direct reason and this is only my best guess.

Supply teachers are often called in, many of the supply staff seem to lack experience and/or are unprepared for the day. I feel that the school board does not adequately prepare them or provide sufficient resources for them, resulting in a sub par experience for the students.

The school is small, boasting roughly 250 students. Staff and students work closely together with the common goal of academic success, but the school board needs to do a better job at providing support.

Since my children started at this school, everything was going perfectly well, everyone was very friendly until I arrived twice about 5 minutes late to pick up my children due to traffic issues and the receptionist was super rude and super disrespectful to me on the phone, that woman doesn’t deserves to work in the position that she has. She is a woman with a very dirty mouth and with a very bad attitude. I complained to the principal and since I did, that woman treats my children badly when she sees them at the reception. I don't know how long she will continue This type of problem but I am going to find a solution. I recommend to parents that if they have this type of situation that they do not remain silent, we are people and we need respect to get along and not treat each other like animals.👎🏻 And people like that lady, if she doesn't know how to respect, she should learn a little manners because she's a bad example for that school. 👎🏻😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡

I give it a 3-star, since I have many friends and the education is somewhat good depending on the teacher you get. However, if you end up with a bad teacher, you probably won't learn as much. The learning quality did lack during COVID-19, however the learning is going back to normal.

Hate the learning program, bad teachers, remote learning is very bad. teachers don’t pay attention to you when you need help, just very bad. I want to give this school a zero but that’s bot possible so I give it a one.

I have been at Rosedale heights for 8 years now, I have had multiple amazing teachers and the principal is very funny and nice. I have also had good supply teachers

I've was here since JK, and it's an okay school. It's a really small school, and mainly the only thing that's bad is that the sports teams aren't very good(there wasn’t even a basketball team when I was in gr 8). Most/some teachers are good.

Good school, don’t have anything negative to say. Most teachers are very nice and somewhat helpful. Went here for 10 years. In my last year, there was a new principal named Mr. Gold who is great. Very professional and cares about the kids deeply.

Unprofessional staff. Growing up I went to this school, the staff were extremely awful to children and put them down. They favoured a lot of the children and when other children had struggles they absolutely made them feel awful and embarrassed them in front of the class. I hope it has changed. However I had the worst experience in this school.

School bout to be ruined by the 07's going into grade 8. But good school, refer back to the 1 star reviews.

Most of the staffs are rude especially office . The grade 5 teacher Ms.Monaco is very irresponsible.

They don’t like to involve board or even the social worker for students who need because there are so many fault in this school .

I talked to the superintendent who is very rude and tried to defend school and finally I had to go to the board of education which was almost end of the year.

The worst school we've ever seen. I have 2 children who were in Thornhill Woods public last year. We are so disappointed with the JK teachers and the Principle. They only thing they know is complaining parent and not taking their responsibility. We left this school after 1 year nightmare there. Not recommended! Worst school!

The school yard after recess is a total mess! The kids throw all their garbage on the ground and leave it for the neighbourhood to clean up. Multiple times I week I have to bring a bag and pick up after the kids (even though they claim the kids aren't supposed to take their snacks outside, I find milk cartons, granola bar wrappers, yogurt cups, ziplock bags with snacks, gummies... etc). I have spoken to the principal about the matter and nothing was done. It is not the job of the janitors to clean the entire park/field after these disrespectful kids. Either provide more garbage cans, educate the kids on not littering and respecting the environment or make sure the kids are not taking their snacks out at recess.
A complete disgrace to the neighbourhood.

As a student I have to say that the school is kinda crappy

It is really a good and safe school.
The principal - Mrs Goldberg - is a positive point of this school. She is an "expert" manager & she takes care about students, teachers and environments. At the end of the day, she stay out of her office and check if every thing is OK when the students are going home. She usually does the same thing in the early morning, specially when weather is "icy"!
This is a multi-cultural school that as a newcomer you can hope that there would be always a help. ESL classes with Ms. Nayir is really effective for newcomers.
Friendly and well organized environment is in this public school, both in school staff point of view and in parent council. Mrs Samira is great in the council. Some parents help students and their families as volunteers. They are very helpful and one of them called Mrs Bahareh helped my family so much. There is always an amazing program or event in this school e.g. movie night, magic show, winter bazzar and so on.
By the way, this school has a VIP police officer!
