Reviews

Small Savers is such a wonderful and caring place. Our daughter has been there since she was 9 months old and has thrived in each classroom. The teachers are nurturing and supportive, fostering our daughter's age appropriate independence.

Small Savers has been a wonderful daycare for both of our children. Both of our kids attended the center beginning in the infant room and remaining until they were PK3 eligible in public schools. Our youngest, as an alumni, is still able to return to the center for days off school and summer camp. The staff are loving and warm and have incredible teaching experience, the Montessori curriculum is thoughtful, practical and engaging and both our kids entered school ready and excited to learn and grow. For us, Small Savers is also a second family and we are so grateful for the continuity of leadership and staff and relationships with families over the years. The facility is still new, always polished and clean and there is strong communication from leadership and the parent board to meet both staff and parent needs. We are so grateful to have found this community and for its support raising our two kids. We cannot recommend Small Savers more highly to any prospective families who may be interested. Finally, we are a family who experienced Small Savers both before, during and after the COVID-19 pandemic and only have positive things to say about each of these time periods and our family experience.

We were part of the Small Savers family for five years and were so pleased with it. The teachers are warm and nurturing and became like family to us. They taught me a lot about patience when taking care of toddlers. 😆 Our daughter attended through PreK-4 and learned how to read from the dedicated preschool teachers. It’s a lovely place and I recommend it highly.

Small Savers Montessori is so great we had to have a third child so we could come back! The teachers are so loving and wonderful with our children. We considered leaving town during the pandemic but how could we leave when we had a loving and reliable child care provider we knew would keep our children safe? So we stayed. Our children learned so much at Small Savers but especially independence and confidence. My youngest daughter’s most common refrain is “I can do it all by myself” — and she can thanks to her Montessori training! We also love all of the center staff. Ms. LaVette is a gem and Ms. Vallerie is a strong and capable Executive Director who values parent communication and feedback. Mr. Daniel is the heart and soul of the center. Several of the staff have been around for decades, and the newer staff are being trained in Montessori regularly. We couldn’t be happier here.

Everyone at this childcare center truly loves and cares for our children and our family. Our kids have grown and developed so much while at Small Savers. Our oldest is now in DCPS pre-K and was so well prepared by Small Savers. The communication from administrators is truly excellent. We love Small Savers so much and highly recommend the center to any and every prospective family looking for someone to adore their kids (nearly) as much as we do as their parents!

Our family has been part of the Small Savers community for a little over a year, since our daughter was about 4mo, and we couldn’t recommend Small Savers more. The team is so caring and attentive. They really know our daughter, and that has made an enormous difference in every aspect of her life. Absolute highest possible recommendation.

I cannot say enough good things about Small Savers! My child has thrived in multiple classrooms with deeply engaged and thoughtful teachers and leadership. The communication to parents is thorough and professional. I'm so grateful my family has found such a warm, fun daycare that my child looks forward to returning to every day.

Our family enrolled our oldest child at Small Savers more than 2 years ago and subsequently enrolled our youngest child as an infant. We have been so pleased with the care and attention our children have received at Small Savers. As parents, we have never worried about our kids while they are there with the caring teachers. In particular, we have been so pleased with how much our toddler grew and developed while at SSM - so much speech and vocabulary development!
At SSM, many dedicated staff make this childcare center a very special place and community.

I use to love Eagle Academy. My son was going their since pre-k 3 and he is now in 1st grade but i can tell you their is a big change in this school so unprofessional now!!! leave voicemails with the principals office no return calls. Then they send out emails with half the information on it. & its sad. My 2nd son who attended pre-k 3 here will not attend next year! I refuse to be treated like the neighborhood the school is in!

This is my daughter’s first&last year at this school. I’ve heard so many great things about this school and I have to admit my experience is the total opposite. This school is misleading in so many ways. The teachers are so unwelcome, unprofessional&lack I’m communication big time! Since my girls started here there has been constant physical incidents flicked upon my girls. My oldest daughter is in a special education class where they have 4 teachers my daughter informed me that a little boy kicked her in the head where it left her bun to come unpinned when I brought my concerns to the lead Speacial education teacher she stated no one kicked your child when In reality the incident did occur. I took my concerns to the other teachers in the classroom they stated they didn’t see her get kicked. So at this point I took my concerns to higher
authority where they claimed they saw my daughter get kicked on the camera but it was accidentally. 2 weeks later my daughter came home to tell me a little boy was teasing her on the playground and threw wood chips in her face. Again I brought my concern to the lead Special education teacher and she stated that it didn’t happen. My daughter told me her teachers were sitting down on the bench talking at the time of the incident so of course she wouldn’t know what happen. If my child was attended to like she was suppose to been this incident could have been prevented. My other daughter got pushed down a flight of steps the other child pushed my child twice when I asked why they didn’t they remove the child way from my daughter to prevent her getting pushed they claimed she was already down the steps. Also when they have already stated my daughter screamed at the other child not to touch her and he pushed her again. I would not recommend this school to anyone. Also they lack at giving homework.

I really miss this school and i love it there i wish i would have stayed longer :(

My granddaughter attends this school and I must say I love it! The staff and volunteers are amazing. My granddaughter's teacher, Ms. Johnson is simply awesome with her students.

My grandson goes to school here and he has learn all his basic needs and plus others. His kindergarten teacher Ms. Sing was awesome working with my grandson. He was doing math problem in kindergarten. That was awesome. I am so glad his mother has him enrolled here cause he learned so much. He even learned how to swim in kindergarten. He loved every minute of swimming and He is fantastic in math. Eagle Academy PCS. Is the best. I didn't learn to swim until I was 15. This School is the best. 👊👊👊💪💪💪👍👍👍❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Potomac was a very great school😭!! But we stocked together like white on rice☺

Before attending Eagle my children were in a totally private setting. However, I was encouraged to give it a try by a co-worker who's son had attended. Needless to say she was right. Yes, just like any other school in S.E D.C Eagle has it's challenges but as the over protective parent that I am the staff ,teachers ,and even volunteers have proven to go above and beyond to provide a safe, creative learning environment that promote self love, self responsibility and being responsible for thy neighbor. I believe that their greatest strength is the lines of communication that they use. Only reason for the 4 is that as parents we need to know that we are apart of this learning environment. WE NEED TO TAKE MORE RESPONSIBILITY!!!!!!

My kids been going to this school for the past 2 years and I love it. The teachers are so nice and the staff are so helpful they go beyond to make sure the kids is getting the best education while keeping it fun for them

Very blessed to be a part of this community!

Man i mess this school man i wish i had a pic of Ms.GERDNER CLASS MAN #😥

Awesome school, great teachers and excellent curriculum.

My child attended K-5 (they start even younger now) and speaks tourist-passable Mandarin Chinese. i don't, so that's something. An administratively functional school in DC is rare, much less one that trains in 2 languages, much less an under-represented language. A good bet for a family willing to commit to supporting their kid on an unusual journey. Not a good bet for lazy or selfish parenting--it's hard work. Also not a good bet if you plan on leaving before fruition.

PPPCS is one of DC's finest institutions from TOP to BOTTOM giving the BEST and getting the BEST from my kids ACADEMICALLY and SOCIALLY the STAFF are PROFESSIONAL, PLEASANT, INTUNED and VERY WELL ACCREDIATED!!!

My experience started off very well at this school. My son first attended during the 2013-2014 school year in 2nd grade. I was very impressed. The mission, his teachers, the attention my son received; I was very satisfied. In my opinion, all of that drastically fell off as they moved into a new building and grew larger. As the staff multiplied the quality divided. Unfortunately none of those dividends worked in favor of my son. The teaching staff became too over worked and was unable to attend to my son's relatively simple academic needs (the school is equipped with an inclusion team but I guess since my son isn't a "special needs" case, his support wasn't that urgent to ANYONE). It's clear that though they emphasize bilingual education there is very little cultural competency among the staff (a teacher made some culturally insensitive remarks to me, I sent a simple email to leadership suggesting some training for the staff, not an apology, that was met with an apology from said teacher.....the training never happened and coincidentally the same teacher later made another culturally insensitive remark to me). To go along with that, very few people that work at the school even speak to me as I walk through the halls. I guess that's fine if that's the culture they strive for but the people at the front desk barely say anything to me when I walk in...and that's their job. I have some suspicions as to why that is but I'll keep that to myself. Based on my experience it seems that there is a lack of behavioral structure in place which breeds many avoidable behavioral incidents (many of which go unreported for some strange reason). My son doesn't cause any problems but is often victim to the consequences what seems to be lack of classroom management skills in many of his classes. I've concluded that the leadership of the school is piss poor. I have never encountered a "leader" of any organization that avoids leading their staff when necessary. It's hard to blame the staff for anything knowing that they don't have any leadership that takes charge. This isn't to knock the whole school and this is just my own experience. I'm sure there are many families at the school that are receiving great customer service and attention. I just wish that after attending for almost 3 years, I had that privilege.

Potomac is a good school for kids but Ms.John class is a family we fight a lot but no one is go it disrespect Ms.John or the other teachers in the class room

Great

Me gusta MVPCS. Sinceramente es un mundo maravilloso donde se construye educación y cultura en Ingles y Español. Los estudiantes y Maestros mantienen un agradable ambiente educativo con una política del cuidado y preservación de la Naturaleza.

My son is a pre k4 student and I love this school. Such a great place for him to learn about the world around him in a diverse environment where he is learning another language!!
