This place sucks for a reason, no career advancement opportunities, just clock in, sit around and waste time. Best advice for any boot PFC: Focus on your civilian career.
Easy access from main road must visit. Very tranquil.
Experienced a very disrespectful security officer at the gate. Hispanic with glasses and has a chubby build, was unable to get badge or name.

Just finished MEPS in New York this morning. I thought the liaisons were helpful, no problems whatsoever.

Just completed 2 days here. The process is designed how it is because it works, I have no complaints or problems. Hotel was nice, food was better than I expected, people were great! When you go to meps you are essentially going through a job interview to work for the United States government. It’s a long process and will get boring at some points but making friends and talking will make it 10 times easier and better! Definitely made some great memories and had fun!

If you have common sense and good home training, you'll be fine and have a successful visit. Show some respect to the men and women working here because they deal with the same issues every day. You're not the only one there to do a process so sit down and be patient. KNOCK before you open someone's door... That is all.

Just do as your told, follow directions, and you are good to go. MEPS is simply a preview of bootcamp! Excited to represent the US NAVY as a proud Bangladeshi American.
Visitors can only enter from ft Hamilton corner 101st. Bring ID because you need to go thru background check. Beware waze and Google maps route Visitors to the va hospital or to the authorized personnel entrance so put in the intersection mentioned above.

Worst Meps station. I had a very bad experience with a supervisor who treated me differently from other applicants. She really don't give me a good impression about the army process and she acting like she want to push you out of the army.
Ok the last time I was actually on that base was way b4 covid 19 was even a bad nightmare. I've be lucky to been aloud to use their public pool ( with special Ty to officer Reed & his wife, said it was ok ) The base has a museum as well a public food court. They have a P.X ( public exchange) only if you have a military i.d. .

Long, boring, exhausting- what to expect in 3 words.

But in the end you’ll be glad it’s over with and one step closer to becoming a member of our military. Keep your head down, walk with a purpose, LISTEN TO DIRECTIONS, and don’t give attitude. Yes sir/ma’am or no sir/ma’am. The food is trash and your gonna get yelled at but your joining the military. You’re not gonna be treated like a child so don’t expect to be hand held through the process. Get used to it snowflakes.
No games... everything with a purpose . Oorah
This is where it all started, July 12th, 1968. Walked through the gate that morning and started my journey for almost 36 years. PV1 to LTC.
I also find it appalling what occurred on that day with that immigrant delivering pizzas. A flagrant abuse of power, which, unfortunately is a common occurrence with the Army.
This place disappointed me greatly. Aside from the background check that was done, security here is terrible.
I walked straight through the metal detector at the MEPS building.
My best friend reenlisted to active duty in the army and, they totally messed up all of his paperwork. They didn't process his information into the computer system, and when it was done, they still didn't have his name listed to ship out.
They forgot to mark him as married instead of single, so he had to go through a hassle to add his wife as a dependent for benefits once he arrived to his duty base.
Terrible.
Good to see the MP's here do their Job. When someone attempts access to a FEDERAL Military Installation, they are subject to a Background Check, and should be detained/arrested in the case that a Standing WARRANT for their Arrest exists!!!
What a shame! Father of two detained for delivering a pizza? As a USMC vet, I'm appalled. My grandparents came to this country to seek a better life just like Mr. Villavicencio. What kinda of country do we want to live in?
Discharged from active duty in 1967 at Fort Hamilton, from Frankfurt Germany bused to JFK for flight to LAX enjoyed short stay.
