Unexpectedly good experience. We watched Zauberflöte short performance (1 hour) with teenagers 12 and 15 years and with a friend who is a professional violinist. I watched several performances of this opera including one in Metropolitan Opera in New York. So, to say the truth, I did not expect a lot. But it was amazing that this performance made all of us happy. Kids were enchanted by very intricate puppet work that was indeed on a level that let you actually forget at some moment that they are puppets. The interpretation was very close to the classic original and very funny. Last but not least, the music and singing part were really good and you listen the very high quality musical version of the opera in good recorded quality. Overall amazing experience both visually and musically. Also, very unique.

Thd theatre is quite basic but sells drinks (the water is ridiculously expensive!) and the seats were comfy and views good.
Good amount of explanation of the story in a few languages, but not full sub-titles which I liked - not too distracting.
I absolutely loved the entire performance, starting from the very beginning - the puppets (staff) during the overture were a highlight.
Definitely recommend this as an evening out!

We watched Lucio Silla at the state theatre and the show was amazing. Actors and musicians did a fantastic job keeping us captivated through out the performance. The hall in itself is small, but that also means wherever you are seated, you still mostly get a good view. Did not feel the dress code was actually being followed except for elderly audience. They give out a brochure with the story beforehand, but unfortunately it was not in english.
The show was great and booked tickets months in advance to be at the front. The bar is quite cheap and there is a cloakroom which got very busy once the show had finished.
The subtitles were projects onto the walls at the beginning of The Nutcracker and this was hard to see from the front few rows but this only lasted at the beginning and didn’t affect the performance

Nie wieder! Nach zweistündiger Anreise wollten wir den Saal (Nachtland 06.01.2023) betreten - um 19:10 Uhr. Laut Website ist Einlass ab 19 Uhr (siehe Screenshot). Trotz dieses Fehlers seitens des Schauspielhauses wurde uns der Einlass verwehrt, woraufhin wir unsere Rückreise nach Deutschland antreten mussten. Eine Entschädigung wurde uns auch verweigert, bezüglich der Erstattung sollten wir uns per Mail an das Ticketbüro wenden.
Really unique experience. The craftsmanship of the marionettes is superb. The stage lighting and sound is wonderful. The skill to bring storytelling to life is inspiring. Such a wonderful experience
Operet "Die Fledermaus" was excellent with brilliant actors and atmosphere!
Ohne FFP2-Maske würde ich mich zurzeit dort nicht mehr aufhalten. Ich habe zwar ein schönes Konzert erlebt, war dann allerdings eine Woche krank.
Dress code is formal and have a cash for bar inside the theater as they don’t accept card.

WOW, I saw the Sound of Music show and was totally blown away by the artistry and skill of the puppeteering. No spoilers here but they also incorporated a few human-puppet interactions that were super cool.
Comfortable seats (including pillows for the little ones to prop them up higher), and a bar for drinks during intermission, plus a few museum-like displays in the lobby (in German).
I think this particular show is especially fun to see if you have watched the Sound of Music film before, since you can see how they transformed the musical numbers into something puppet-friendly.

Super ort
Beautiful and comfortable theater. There is always nice presentations especially for the children.
The theatre is gorgeous. We went to watch a ballet show iolanta /the nutcracker. There was opera, orchestra and ballet all in one. Do dress up as it’s a formal evening event.
Visited on a Sunday to see a performance of Der Alte Baum (The Old Tree). This beautifully performed show played to a full house with live music from the orchestra and incredibly talented opera singers. Highly recommended.
Saal wurde Jazz in the City zur Verfügung gestellt. Hat gepasst.
Toll fuer Jeden, der anders interpretiertes Theater finden moechte. Fuer Groß und Klein immer ein Erlebnis mit hohem Erinnerungswert.

Es ist ein kleines Theater, aber es kann in seinen experimentellen Inszenierungen überaus begeistern. Genuß in Reinkultur. Ausgezeichnete Organisation und herzliche Atmosphäre.

Schauspielhaus is a place almost every student in Salzburg knows. Their renditions of classic and modern plays and acts cater for young and old alike and if you're into theatre, this is definitely worth a visit or more
A wonderful unique experience that you won't be able to find anywhere else in the world. These artists are incredibly talented and are able to bring the puppets to life! The best part is that their work can be translated to any language and bring out the inner child in all of us. Be sure to go if you have the chance! It's not that expensive. Tickets range from 20-40 euros
This is an amazing theatre...spectacular
Nice theater, fancy bar where you can sample tasty cocktails. Top performing, we were more then satisfied. The only thing that was a bit of a disappointment was the air quality during the performance due to the poor air conditioning. We felt like the longer you stay in the concert hall the less air you get. otberwise nice place for a fee time activity.
Es ist ein eher kleines Theater, aber die Organisation ist hervorragend. Die Kooperation mit japanischen Künstlern war und ist immer noch sehr gut. Wer die Chance hat hier ein Event zu erleben, sollte sie wahrnehmen.
Super Theater, Fuer Kinder und Erwachsene, tolle Stuecke. Waren schon oefters dort, kommen aber devinitiv wieder!!
Great poppy show! Must watch! There are one hour show and two hours show in different days. And the show on each day is different too. So make sure to check the show name, duration and time in advance.
