The historic town and its fortress introduces, to the visitor, a way of life now quickly disappearing across the Arabian peninsula. Take a peaceful stroll through the lanes and passageways that once linked the diverse urban quarters and amaze on the sophisticated high-walled buildings in stone and hardened mud. Climb (carefully!) the ancient steps to the top of the fort and be captivated by the scenic location overlooking the town, and the extensive forest of dark green date palms. Today, the extensive heritage town greets interested travellers to spend time within the site, and offers an opportunity to experience an unmissable taste of life in AlUla Old Town.

Wander the maze of historic alleys and hundreds of houses built of mud brick, lined up next to each other like an impenetrable fortress. This is AlUla's Old Town, its winding paths seeped with memories whose origins date back almost a millennium. With every step, feel history become instantly and movingly tangible and experience the heritage that fills Old Town's thriving streets with life.

Refurbished artistic old town with shops, cafes and relaxing places. Good gor a casual stroll. Free entry and parking at North parking.

I took an evening tour of the old town. It was less than an hour. There is not much to see between the historical houses and I didn’t see the interior of any of them. The walk was very short, but the highlight of the tour was the visit to the fort. From the top of the fort you can see the ruins of the old town and the oasis area across the road. I have posted all photos and videos from the fort’s viewpoint under the location AlUla Fort.

Rich in culture. This place speaks volumes of the ancient heritage. The mudbrick structures are very impressive. There are lots of restaurants and cafes around. There’s also a designated parking for each entrance. We parked at the North side. It’s free at the time of writing.😃Although it’s a walk away towards the entrance, buggies with drivers were provided in the parking area to transport guests to the entrance for free.

AlUla Old Town attracts visitors with its unique historical and cultural charm. It is an ideal place to experience the rich heritage of Saudi Arabia.
