This is worth the visit when it is combined with the palace ticket. Really nice rooms, great pieces of history and culture. The view from the caffe is lovely too.

We came here using the ticket we’d bought at Doge’s Palace the day before. The tickets last for 2 days and you can visit 4 museums for €30. This place was huge! We were so surprised when we were walking around, it seems to go on forever and there’s always something else to see. They’ve recently restored The Royal Rooms which was an interesting addition to the experience too. I’d recommend you allow around 2-3 hours for the visit.

The museum, born from the legacy of the 18-19th-century art collector Teodoro Correr, is located across from San Marco, in the section known as the Napoleonic Wing, which surrounds the square. Both the building and the collection are definitely worth seeing. Especially noteworthy is the section dedicated to Venetian life and culture, which contains truly unique and remarkable maps! I recommend taking your time to explore the museum slowly and carefully, paying attention to detail.

This is a beautiful museum with many artifacts. I loved the maps and huge globes. The worst part was the security check to get in. It took a very long time and could have been much more efficient. We bought tickets in advance but that wasn’t the hold up.
Total rip-off, small and overpriced museum is full of replicas. Nice building to look at from the outside.

My entrance was included with the Doge’s Palace ticket. Lots to see here to understand Venice history through the art and artefacts displayed here. The square is also visible from one of the windows.

The most of the time spent on waiting was to go through security check.
After that, if you didn’t buy tickets online you should find ticket office and get the bulk tickets (you need to purchase tickets for all four museums: Correr, Archeological, Duge’s palace and monumental rooms for the Biblioteca Marciana) so make sure you are there on time as otherwise you may need to come back tomorrow to visit other museums you don’t get to in one day.
The museum used to be royal palace with thousands of square meters covered with art, history and precious monuments of Italian history.

Tickets were 30 euros per person (don’t forget its for all four museums).
Price: 7,50€ for an adult.
Really nice museum for people who like history. Friendly Staff member and lot of things to see on 4 floors.
5* staff
5* service
5* interest

Very nicely done museum with full line history of navy construction, specially of the boats constructed by Venice Arsenal.
There are 4 floors dedicated to different navy periods, as well as maps, navigation instruments and crew forms.
There are many boat models with details, for example, the boat constructed in Venice Arsenal by the order of Napoleon Bonaparte.. Just impresdive. There are also parts of the real boats, and, most interesting personally for me - the original letters of the sailors/captains and their destiny afterwards. There are letters from the boat Amalfy from the 1st World War, in which the captain assures that they will gain the victory for sure, but the destiny of this ship is to be destroyed in the navy battle..

The secret itinerary tour was great. Got to see areas not open to the general public, including Casanovas prison cell. Well worth it and the best part of the palace in my opinion. Could have spent hours here after the tour, there’s so much to see.

Visited in early November. Impressive ! Went in without any prior research or plan. They will check your bags through security upon entry; it was very fast efficient and friendly process. The whole place Feels like a labyrinth it’s easy to get lost and still enjoy it but I recommend a guide or at least an audio tour of some kind . I used Rick Steve’s but it never lined up exactly for me lol. There is a nice little gift shop and cafe at the end. Don’t miss the bridge of sighs it sneaks up on you a bit.

Beautiful palace. I'd spring for 4 museums in a visit. Each floor is very different from the next. Completely worth it. My photos don't do it justice. Visited in late November so got right in. The normal queue lines were beside us and you can see where it's normally out the door when people go in season so beware 😲

Very awesome place to visit. Theres lots to do and see in and around this area, they have several museums to check out and various types of historical artifacts, statues, antiques, paintings and artwork. I really enjoyed my time here and it was definitely worth the visit. I would most certainly recommend checking this place out when visiting Venice.
Absolutely stunning museum, very fitting for Venice as it was a navel super power and hub for shipping and trade for centuries. It has a fantastic collection, very well preserved and displayed. This is a great place to take kids if you have them with you in Venice. They let you board certain ships which really makes this museum special and much more enjoyable. I would definitely recommend checking this museum out.

Interesting place. Very pretty artwork. Go with a tour and you can skip the line. highly recommend . Randomly, it had a shared bathroom for men and women. It was fine as each stall was it's own room. I just found it hilarious that they had a Nona standing at the door making sure you used the "right" stall. I asked my husband and his stall was just a toilet as well. cracked me up that she was so diligent about keeping everyone in line, lol. At least there were 3 female and 2 male stalls!
Good museum, definitely second to the Palazzo Ducale, but still worth the visit as you only have to pay a few more euros to go in. My favourite part were the maps. You can see maps that are 400+ years old. It’s pretty cool to see how they managed to do it back then, and the differences with current day maps, the changes in the name of the places, etc. Recommended to drop by.
The new prison on the other side of the bridge of sighs..
Thought-provoking. Casanova didn't escape from this side he escaped from the cell's inside the ducal palace. I don't think we would've heard much abouts him if his stay was in there. 1m thick walls.. no escape possible.

I suggest you get your tickets online the day before or on the day if your lucky to purchase them.

You can purchase tickets on the day if its not busy. We picked a day when the weather forecast said rain.

Even with online tickets in hand you will still have to join a queue.

Set by at least 2hrs to get round this place. Its massive.

It's worth seeing, but it can get a bit busy.
It was a nice experience, I had learned a lot of things about the conditions of detention and about torture , as well I had learned more about the city and the history of the city from Tiziana Azzalini. She is a great tour guide, friendly, with knowledge that exceeds the position she holds and keeps you interested until the end. I suggest you look for tour guide Tiziana Azzalini.

Excellent museum. Fine attention to history as each display in 4 languages. Extensive history at each display and very well done. The building is incredible inside and well worth the fee to visit. The armory halls especially piqued my interest. Excellent display. Would definitely visit again. I did a self guided tour but the audio tour would’ve probably been helpful. Excellent indeed.

A wonderful palace full of rich history!
You can buy your tickets day of, but you will be stuck in a line to be able to get inside.

The palace is wonderful, and the walls have stories of how it all came to be and how the role of the Doge was handled throughout time. You explore the halls and rooms within the building, along with the connected prison chamber and pass through the inside of the sigh bridge.
Overall a good experience, and one item as a must do while in Venice!
Great naval museum. I highly recommend for the passionate naval lovers and the curious.

Stumbled upon this museum while exploring Venice and what a treat!
Four floors packed with models of ships, real full ships and pieces of ships as well as cannons and tools for various seafarers throughout history.

I didn't notice an audio guide available but most exhibits had information with English - but the items really spoke for themselves!

I didn't see a gift shop, lucky for my wallet because I was blown away by this museum.
If you like naval warfare, history, or giant old ship models, then this is a must see. If you don’t like any of those things, then DO NOT come here. Personally, I loved it.
Short (30 min).but excellent tour, Kristen was a very good guide with so much knowledge and very nice. Best to book directly online, you do not need to go through Venice tours SRL company. Not the best communication from the company when we wanted to change our tour time but Kristen was extremely nice and allowed us to start our tour early.
Very eerie!....worth a visit!
One of the most amazing naval museums that I have ever seen! The collections are SPECTACULAR. On the fifth floor there is an exhibit of sea shells that is unique and most impressive. What gemstone!! Bravo!!!
Very interesting! Includes lots of authentic instruments and architectural features. The tour guide was amazing and very willing to answer all questions. Really recommend!
A great way to learn more about the new prison and lead by a wonder little team! Would recommend combining a tour here this with a visit to the doge palace to get a real good look round

The prison building is connected to Dodge Palace by the bridge of Sighs
The prison is magnificent and worths visiting
You can do it at the end of the Dodge Palace tour
