Reviews

I love this museum. It’s definitely a favorite ! It’s interactive and I get to be involved in the art. Yay

We went here on a work trip with our campers, it was a lot of fun and great art. The workers are very friendly and explain everything beautifully. I always enjoy myself during my visits.

Had planned on going swimming at the pool, but when I got there, the pool was torn up with heavy equipment sitting in it. It seems to me that mid July probably isn't the best time to shutdown a public swimming pool.

Great jump park. My children enjoyed it. The establishment smelled clean. I witnessed some workers cleaning the jump surfaces throughout the day. We came 10 minuets after their jump time started so that's the only thing that was a bummer. We wither had to wait to start or cut our time short. Come ahead to make sure time doesn't get cut.

While visiting my hometown I took my toddler to Rush. First I'll say I'm very glad they have something in Athens for kids to do, but was bummed at how small it was and the lack of things available for littles and non jumpers. The ones where I live in Atlanta have more seating all around so you can watch, a cafe, game room and area specifically designated for kids 5 and under.(they may or may not stay in that area but it's there) We went during toddler time which was nice but I couldn't imagine taking my young 3 year old during regular times. Overall it was ok, my toddler had fun. I'd take her back when we are in town. It gave us something to do in a town that doesn't offer much for kids but it would be a better experience if they could add the above things mentioned. As far as the cafe if the place isn't equipped to do full out cooking then my suggestion would be buy machines that do easy cooking like popcorn, Otis Spunkmeyer cookies and hotdogs plus juice boxes, fruit snacks and other kid friendly treats. Just a thought

It's now a homeless encampment disguised as a playground. For the record, I've no issue with people seeking shelter there. I'm leaving the 1 star review because I wouldn't recommend to bring your kids here to play.

Bishop Park is an incredible asset to the community. Great place for basketball, tennis, soccer, walking, and the weekend farmers market.

Pretty fun and I get to jump with my kids all over. Buying tickets in advance makes it so they just check you in and you go. Simple and easy.

Nice park, great walkways. Dog friendly. One of our favorite places for daily walk with the “kids”

Overall it wasn't bad.
We were there for a birthday party for a 3-year-old and a good time was had by all.
The dropped star is because of their food policy and charges for bringing your own, as well as how much of the space is dedicated to dodgeball.
Would love to see the airbag pit refill faster.
The hour of jumping for the party wasn't enough for most.
The party room, being sans ceiling, made it hard to enjoy the party part, with the added volume and reverberation, of people having to talk loud to be heard over the music and din from the outside areas, causing a cacophony, in which the focus on the birthday person was lost.
Because it was for a 3 year old, it worked, but it wouldn't be first choice for older kids.
During jump time, it certainly brought out the inner child in them, even if they didn't give into it and jump.
If you just have to get some bounce time, in your life, then this is the place.
I loved the socks with the grippy bottoms, that is their name RUSH, which coincidentally, is one of my favorite rock bands.

Went for the 🆓 free Yard sales a great variety of items

The monthly Really Really Free market is a good endeavor to reuse items.

I love this park, but the fact that the only bathrooms available are on the opposite end of the playground/walking trails is ridiculous. There are bathrooms at the picnic shelter and they remain locked. So when you have a three year old who has to go to the bathroom, you have to weave around the construction fences all the way to the tennis courts and back. Just open the picnic shelter. The park is packed this time of year as it is, it would’ve useful to have another bathroom located on the other end of the park.

Great bike trails! Took my small one first bike trip, loves it. Really good bike park.

Great time for the grandkids.
Great value on the tickets.
Prices are reasonable.

Great park to play some pick-up basketball!

Today was my first time walking this trail and I love it better than my go-to! I can't wait until the days get even longer so I can spend more time out there after work. The scenery is what really did it for me!

This is my new favorite park at the moment. Located right at the edge of downtown Athens, it’s the perfect place to stop for a short walk through the woods or a nice stroll on the greenway by the North Oconee River. Both routes lead to a lovely green space with covered picnic tables and restrooms. I played on a small basketball court on my most recent visit when the river was overflowing from a torrential rainstorm.
Great spot for walking, biking, skating, birdwatching, picnicking, and so on.

Lovely park! I used to work at the Athens Farmers Market that pops up here. Now I visit for the Indie South Holiday Markets and take my nephews to the little playground. I do wish they had more swings for adults because my partner took her time on the tire swing, but otherwise 5 stars.

This is a beautiful place to visit! The art was great, the architecture was even better! I absolutely recommend visiting!

Amazing experience. We'll maintained, clean, staff at the museum front desk was very kind and helpful. Beautiful piece of history

Parking is a little confusing but there are spaces specifically marked for museum visitors. Small museum . Art work was interesting and there are many interactive activities. A little information in the first room to your right in the door about the asylum. There are a few trails here to walk.

There's a new player in town, and this is what we need!
My wife and I finally made it to 101 Smokehouse over a week after they opened, and I sure wish we went sooner.
Instead of a bite by bite critique, going to give you highlights.
1) The brisket was really good. The fat-to-meat ratio was perfect. The fat was buttery and the smoke ring was perfect as well!
2) The fried jalapeño cheese curds were wonderful (although I'm not sure that it was cheese curds) and that will be a mainstay of my future visits.
3) The cornbread was moist, slightly sweet and didn't need butter. Best cornbread I'd ever had.
4) The BBQ sauces are to die for, ESPECIALLY the Carolinas! All home made in house, they need to bottle and sell it!
5) Finally...the brisket chili. Man, what a suprise. I rarely order restaurant chili more than once because it usually disappoints (especially compared to my wive's) but not this...oh no, not this. I want to fill up a backyard swimming pool with this chili and just dive right in. Best chili I've ever eaten. Thick, with a wonderful chipotle taste, not too many beans at all.
I'll be back...with bells on and fork in hand! I am proud to support such a place in our community!

Admittedly, the only interactions I've had with this park have 108% been bc the Really Really Free Market is hosted there, the 2nd Saturday of every month, from noon till around 1:30p, and its a great place to bring stuff that's useful but just not for you, anymore, and then find treasures amongst what others no longer need! The rest of the park seems neat but I'll admit I've seldom seen folks there for non RRFM reasons...

Lovely wide paths for walking or running. Charcoal Grills and covered picnic tables, playgrounds, Tennis Courts, and swimming pool. Make sure you come for the weekend Farmers Market.

It's cute. Small but nice. Clean. I didn't see a ton of it, because I was there for an event (the Really Free Market), but what I saw was nice.

Pretty park with a mostly paved walkway. I took the stroller and it worked out well. A walk along side the river. There is NO playground. There were rock boulders stacked that my child was able to play on until the fire ants came out. There was a flower structure for decor and some benches under it. Some of the walkway is currently under construction.

Love this place! The architecture style of the old building and the size is amazing. The museum part is really nice. All beautiful artwork and interactive. My 15 yr old daughter and I both enjoyed it eminently. We spent over and hour just walking around inside and outside. Would have loved to see more of the inside of the old Lunatic Asylum.

My grandson loves coming here. Staff is always friendly and it's affordable. They even have massage chairs for those us that want something relaxing to do. Could use an upgrade in vending though.

Went to the really really free market there on Saturday 9/11. What a thoughtful, generous and community minded organization!! So impressed with the coordinators and volunteers

Very nice beautiful park. Big rocks to either read or have a picnic on. Lovely water and nice and calm atmosphere. Great place to job or walk. Couple of hills but nothing challenging

This is a great place to go for a walk, run, or bike. My kids age 7 and 10 enjoyed biking on the paved sidewalks. That kept them busy about 30-45 minutes but after that they were bored of doing the same areas biking over and over. There is a pool and playground here. Both looked closed due to Covid 19. There were some people playing tennis. The bathrooms were clean. Overall we love this park!

I love that this is in the old asylum. It has a very interesting vibe. I wish the displays had a bit more to do with the history of the asylum or psychology in general. The displays are all kind of random and non-topical but still enjoyable. They do have a bit of a section up front on the right after entering that has some stuff on display about the building itself. I liked that.

Join us for Really Really Free Market every second Saturday here Donate what you don't need and take what you need. No money necessary.
Very small park with play area, basketball court and large covered picnic area. Right near downtown. Streetside parking only!

Beautiful park, lots of paths, and very clean. Trails are not too clearly marked so I walked a lot further pointlessly since I had to backtrack along known paths.

Fun for kids and parents. You have to put your information in the system and sign a waiver before you go to the desk. Kids over 2 are $13 per hour and adults are $15 per hour.. $19 for two hrs. You have to purchase their socks ($3) but can reuse them. Highly Recommend for a fun family day.

The park is very nice. You can walk or ride bike. There are some tables where you can use for lunch. The park is long. The route is not complete. I mean, it isn't continues. You have to take an alternative way throw area parking in order to follow the complete way

We've been here multiple times and my 7yr old loves it. There's plenty of different areas to keep them occupied other than just jumping in one spot. It's nice that they have a parents lounge area and a cubby area for all the shoes. The staff is always very friendly and conscious of the children and their safety.

It’s a great place to take a casual stroll or walk your dog! They just expanded and add a new bike lane and bridge. Love this park! There’s a stream/tiny river that your dog can play in during a hot day and big rocks they can climb on!

Great public park. I go there frequently for the Saturday Farmers Market. Parking can be difficult when there are events but if you are patient it usually works itself out.
