This is a fabulous experience for visitors. The docent is knowledgeable.

Not all that great. Parking was easy enough. Pretty good sized park for the puppers to run around. And they do provide poo bags. That's where the pros end. The water fountain is trash. If you're gonna be there a while, I'd recommend bringing water. Barely any shade. People apprently either dont know that they should pick up after their dogs. Or they simply dont care. So watch your step. Also, there are no bathrooms in the dog park area.
Beautiful wedding venue

This is the beautiful home of the Garden Clubs of Georgia, Inc. on the grounds of the Botanical Garden.
I was happy to see people took time to rescue the tree. Was great to see that part of town cause it was so old. Also the concept of the tree owning its self. Makes me curious if every acorn that sprouts from it, would be entitled to its own rights as well. If so people should plants more of it.
Very nice walking trails. Nice faculty for educational meeting, great play ground. Not crowded during the week
Huge, awesome park with multiple equipment areas including a splash pad. Plenty of benches and tables under covered areas. Clean and well maintained. One bathroom house/facility with 2 separate bathrooms -- well stocked and clean enough, but could be better.
What a treasure for Athens! This museum is amazing! This place not only has fabulous art, but great programs for the entire family and it’s free! We took a delightful tour with Brenda—one of their knowledgeable, charming and energetic docents. She kept over 20 people in the palm of her hand with her interesting and insightful presentation. I can’t wait to come back to Athens and this museum!
The best, worth a look if you are trying to find true Georgia gardeners that care.

The park is not maintained at all. The pond is blocked off by a gate you have to walk around to get to the one access point. This park made me feel like I was going to get robbed. DO NOT RECOMMEND
I had a great time exploring this botanical garden. I started out exploring the arts museum, which has some unbelievable pieces in it. Then I headed towards the trails and walked some of the white trail along the garden. Finally, when I thought I was just about done, I saw the international garden. It's amazing taking the stroll around that area, which leads to the front of the garden and plenty more to see once you're there.
First time there. Not very long trails, so if you're looking for some nature but don't have hours, it's perfect. Which is what we were looking for today.
Good looking tree. Incredible concept and history. Bumpy, old-fashioned cobblestone road to get there. The whole experience took about 5 mins.
First moved here years ago and found this, and after a good rainfall, you can enjoy the creek as it passes underneath. A cool spot in the Fall to check out here.
Place was immaculate just what a Botanical Garden should look like great job guys and gals
Absolutely beautiful! From all the flowers and tropical plants to the butterflies everywhere you look! The wildlife and shaded paths to more beauty! This is a must visit place if you are in Athens, Georgia! The indoor facility is cool and naturally oxygenated by all the vegetation. There is a vegetable garden. Children will love the playground and climbing ropes! You could easily spend the day just enjoying nature here! There is also an art museum and chapel.
Protect more trees from aggressive car-centric development.
Love, love, love these gardens! I have been twice in the last month, bringing family then friends from Atlanta. Worth the drive and a great place to spend the day.

From the ceramics museum to the many gardens to the hiking trails, it makes for a wonderful day outdoors.

Entry is free but bring cash for the donation box in the visitor's center!
This place was amazing. Despite the crazy heat, the beauty of nature had me happy to keep exploring. Not to mention it was super quiet and peaceful!
There was plenty parking and the staff there were more than friendly. I'd definitely come back.
The Sunflower Concerts have been a very wonderful experience. It's been a relaxing and enjoyment from a chaotic day or weekend. Two absolutely wonderful hours. Bring your chairs, food and/or blankets for a picnic atmosphere. Dancing down in front of the band. Free snacks and drinks. Highly recommend you join Friends of the Garden! Wonderful discount and other things, too. It's worth every penny!
Such a great place to take the kids and let them learn about all the animals native to Georgia. From the mountains to the cost they have everything. Poisons snake in cages . Sea turtle . Fish a live bee nest . Walking trails, Play ground . They do birthday parties. It's a great place for. learning. The staff is very informative.
Wonderful museum with gratis entrance. I enjoyed the guided tour. The volunteers and staff are very passionate about art and their museum. I even had the pleasure to speak with a wonderful student named Ray about her work and the psychological significance that modernity has had on artistic expression. A great museum with great people. Definitely recommend, though parking on campus can be a bit interesting.

Wonderful piece of history. Not much parking as it is in a neighborhood but worth the trip.

It didn’t even respond to the song I wrote it about the Lorax smh :( will not be coming back booooooooo I hate trees
This botanical garden is probably my favorite place in Georgia. There is always something new to see as far as plant life, and wildlife such as owls, deer, and small woodland creatures. The children's garden is wonderful and full of activities. There are trails that run through the woods around the gardens. There is ample parking accessible by stairs and/or an elevator, a huge greenhouse building, a gift shop and cafe which are located in the greenhouse, a porcelain museum, several public bathrooms, and numerous gardens. All of it is free! You can easily spend a whole day here. Pack a lunch and take your time! Go in each season if you can to see the different plant varieties. They also have events throughout the year which are ticketed.
We have been going here for years and it's always a fun time. We love walking the nature trails and playing in the new play area.
They said that they done "renovations" on the playground and had it closed for like around a month back in April of this year but I don't see anything actually new here at the playground or the splash pad. The tire swings are still missing on the playground and have been for at least a couple years now. So I'm not exactly sure what they "renovated" at the playground or splash pad. There's still a couple things not even functioning at the splash pad and haven't been for 2 or 3 years or so. Also, the splash pad doesn't have the normal full water pressure that it's supposed to have so it's kinda disappointing. I'd much rather go to the Engelman Park in Sweetwater because I've heard it is well kept and much nicer than here at Athens Regional Park!
**Pictures are of things on playground & splash pad that is missing and/or not working.
It was fun for her, but as an adult, I find it ridiculous that they don’t fix the issues with the play area. It’s just boarded off. Kids that don’t have adult supervision (by parents chatting on phones or carrying on conversations) end up doing whatever they want even if it is blocked off. They also need light colored padding for kids feet, the dark padding gets really hot in the sun.
Splash pad 2023 is place you don't want to frequent right now. Their so-called renovations for the year 2023 really can't be seen just put a little splash of cleanup on it. And the Splash pad isn't running at full pressure, I'd say maybe 65% to be nice. There isn't much fun here.
We come year after year but we are going to seek better venues now like Sweetwater and Cleveland. Worth the drive.
I have been here twice now and it is always a pleasure. The nature center is smaller than most paid attractions, but hey it is free! The trails are nice from what I have seen and the staff was also very courteous. It was a great location to practice photography and take in nature.
So much to do and the facilities are always clean.
Few wonderful collection renaissance art and some remarkable old collection. Admission and parking is totally free. Not the whole museum was open but it was a fantastic expectation.
Athens Botanical gardens is a lovely place to visit to enjoy a nice stroll through the garden. The inside area has more flowers and a gift shop. When you drive in there is plenty of parking.
Note: I did remove one star for the number of stairs and hills at this garden. Compared to the Atlanta Botanical Garden, Gainesville location, this location is has more hills and stairs.
The children's garden is very cute. They even had a playground!

What a beautiful area, the weather was amazing! Always wanted to visit this tree, which is definitely worth the visit! We parked off the street and walked over, took some pictures! The houses are simply gorgeous! The little cobblestone street is very pretty.
The State Botanical Garden of Georgia is a true gem hidden in the heart of Athens. As soon as I entered the garden, I was immediately struck by the stunning beauty of the natural surroundings. The garden is home to a vast array of plant species, each more vibrant and colorful than the last.

The pathways are well-maintained and easy to navigate, making it easy to explore the garden at your own pace. There are plenty of benches and picnic areas scattered throughout the garden, making it easy to take a break and soak in the beauty of your surroundings.

One of the highlights of my visit was the Conservatory, which is home to a wide variety of tropical plants and flowers. The air inside the Conservatory was thick with the scent of exotic blooms, transporting me to a far-off place.

The staff at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia were extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and they were happy to answer any questions I had about the plants and flowers. It was clear that they take great pride in the garden and its upkeep.

Overall, my experience at the State Botanical Garden of Georgia was nothing short of magical. I would highly recommend a visit to anyone looking for a serene and peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. 🌼 🌸 🌻 🌹 🏵
The best kept secret in the Athens/Metro Atlanta area! The quality of art is the best I've seen in YEARS!! I'm taking friends, family and out of town guests. Art lovers ....check it out!

Lovely museum with free admission. You can get up close to the exhibits. Easy to find a parking space.
Really nice path. I’d been meaning to go for a while, and I wish I’d gone sooner! It’s got some easy trails and beautiful scenery.
Went with my 4 kids, ages 8-14. The 8-year old did not enjoy it. The 11-yr old warmed up to the art while we were there. The older 2 enjoyed the abstract art over the historical art. I loved all of it. I particularly loved the historical art and the added information posted that gave me more context about what the art represents. We were there for about 2 hours. We rushed a little through the second part, so I would say plan for 2-1/2-3 hours to fully enjoy the art. It is free to get in, but you have to register for tickets with a time slot. Parking garage was close and free!
Great place for family and friends to gather at. Plenty to do and the views are just as nice.

Love this park. There are plenty of ways to play with the kids, enjoy nature, and let the dogs play.
This was a fun side quest. The tree and the 8 feet around it seem to be doing well, even in winter. Easy to find, maps takes you right there. Interesting stop and a little jealous of the tree getting its own space and owning itself!
Very cool sight to see, specially because of the story behind it (you can ask any of the neighboring houses and the owners will tell you all about it). The only downside to it is finding a place to park because the streets are pretty tiny but it's something I would totally recommend to those passing by Athens.

Very nice collection here. There's a photography exhibit right now that's just fantastic. You can listen to many of the photographers speak about the pictures which adds so much to the exhibit, just zap the QR code.
The staff was cordial but not helpful, as an example when I had to ask the guy at the front desk which way to go after I checked in and the security staff seemed to be giving me the stink eye as I walked through the photography exhibit.
This is a small bridge for walking in their park. Not a tourist attraction. Very disappointed as I was ready to see a real covered bridge.

So fun! I loved all the exhibits, so many to appeal to any and all. They had an interactive one where you could weave part of a blanket, I liked if. I spent about an hour and a half here, reading quite a bit. We had to leave because it was closing and I could have probably stayed 20 more min or so but was pretty satisfied. There are 2 sections to the second floor so be sure not to miss out! They have free parking for museum patrons. We made reservations online (oct 2023) and they were free. Great art museum!
Thanks so much to Pablo for sharing his knowledge and passion. What a garden!

Great picnic area! Splash pad is very cool. My grandson had a wonderful birthday party today. The only reason that I didn't give it 5 stars is because there wasn't any grills. Even though we had to bring prepared food it was a very nice day in a nice play area for the kids.
We drive up from Cleveland to the Athens Regional Park to walk because the restrooms and facilities are so clean. A special thank you to Sharon Griffin for working so hard to keep this facility clean.
What a work out! This is an amazing frisbee golf course laid out along miles and miles of fun stuff for the family. We enjoyed this course so much we almost forgot to take all of our normal photos. The office in the front sells disc's and returns lost and founds.

Splash Park & Playground are excellent activities for the kids. Can be crowded at times but today, Wed at 3:30 not bad at all. And there's plenty of shade & tables to sit at while the kids play. Larger playground items for the kids that are just a bit older well separated from smaller playground items for toddlers that still may need mommy or daddy's helping hand. The entire park is nice--whether picnic, hike, ballgame, or disc golf. Hard not to relax here.
My go to trail! We park here and walk into the trail. Very clean and safe. There's also an awesome kids playground with beautiful flowers. My husband and I have parked here and gone for a bike ride from here.
Where are the picnic table's?
Drove from Sweetwater to Athens, picked up some lunch but guess what ,No table's! DISAPPOINTED!
A excellent park to take the kids from older to younger. Nice splash pad to cool off on a hot day. Public restrooms available as well. Lots of Pavillion seating just no bbq pits and no cookout options.
A very beautiful place so beautiful in fact I had to share it in my YouTube video exploring Athens on G-Day!! Check it out search Tittle's Travels!!
A true gem for Clarke County! The visitor's center offers educational content for all ages, but is tailored towards children. It also houses numerous animals, from a Loggerhead turtle to various local frogs and snakes.

There are plenty of maps of all the facilities and trails inside and the restrooms are clean.

The trails are fantastic and well maintained. The main trail right off of the visitor's center has lots of information for both children and adults about what you can find along the way.

Sandy Creek is truly a wonderful place to learn about local conservation efforts and a nice place to spend the day.
Beautiful!! Love this area to relax my mind and see the garden.

Someone should put some signs up to let folks know not to drop their dogs leash and let the dogs chase and terrorize the little family of ducks that lives in the pond.
It might be fun for the dogs but the ducks .. not so much.
That area is their home and everyone should respect that.
Also put your trash in the trash can.. no need for someone's colostomy bag laying on the ground.
It's unhealthy for everyone and someone's gonna have to pick it up.
A quiet place to sit and meditate. Needs some pruning and TLC though.
When I came here, it was not like a botanical garden compared to that we have in my campus.
Awesome. Exactly what i needws
Many historical sites near Baldwin Hall. The garden is amazing, but there are also petroglyphs right in front of Baldwin Hall. Cute bridge to cross with nice views.

There was no one there so ... I really loved it!! Clean. Quite.
Great meeting site within State Botanical Gardens near Athens.
Interesting shows from new artist
An independent non-profit gallery with interesting contemporary art by local artists. Their openings are always fun. The volunteers and staff are friendly and helpful. I like to support local art whenever I can. It is located in the warehouse district off Chase Street- a little hard to find the first time, but well worth the effort. Trains still run occasionally on the tracks outside, so be ultra aware of where you park your car and where your kids are at all times.
Sometimes this park is a joke. Kids unsupervised, the splash pad took 2 yrs to build and it's only been open a mo and closed now bc of things breaking. Also it's not Tn largest splash pad

I was at the dog portion of the park and the reason for 3 stars instead of 4 or 5 is because of the lack of water spigots. It's a great park and the people and dogs we have met have been great just make sure to bring some water!

Well, this is a hidden treasure. Well designed and maintenant. I have been to the State Botanical Garden many times but I did not know that there is a place like that.
One evening, I discovered it, and it made my day.
If you live or come to Athens, make sure you check it out. Amazing
Bathrooms need to be patrolled waited a hour at the pavilion to use restroom. A man in one bathroom a woman in the other both shooting up then they leave in the same car😳this is a family place where families and children go
Nice garden but could be a little better taken care of.
A lovely little hidden gem on the UGA campus.
Athens regional park is a great place for kids family. There are many things to do from hiking and running trails to fishing and rodeo grounds always a must visit if u have kids
At its peak in the fall, the LAEG is a gem of a pocket garden tucked away in a corner of Old Campus. Many interesting specimens, and a chill vibe amidst the hustle and bustle of daily life at the University of Georgia.

This park is a working process.... however I was happy and surprised to see the pictures of the firefighters in Athens Tn. This is a old photo and the younger gentleman and the end of front row is my late grandfather...... Wilburn Tillman McDonald aka Hoot.
Great people and gallery
