Beautiful park with hiking trails from easy to difficult.
I wish I had come earlier because the gate to drive to the summit closes at 7, but I was delighted to find how built up this place has become!

There is a splash pad, complete with covered seating along the sides. There is a massive gated playground area. There is a gated basketball court write one hoop. There is that low-walled pit game where you bounce the ball…can’t remember what that’s called, there are bathrooms and it looks like a changing area.

There are even carnival rides!!!! No idea when they are open but I’ve never heard of such a thing!

That isn’t even counting the actual trail, which, God bless the forgers of it, is not only paved, but you can drive up!!!! I love that I can see a summit even when my legs don’t function well!!!!

So much parking, and handicap spots are close to the activities.

Also, I appreciate the good signage reminding everyone to LEASH dogs. Please do this!!!! Even on the trails!!! It keeps fragile people like me safe! Your dog may be friendly, but even friendly dogs are dangerously for fragile people. One jump from a friendly dog dislocated my hip because I had EDS. Please, leash your dogs!!!

Nice hiking trails close to 128 in Waltham. Good view of Boston if you make the trek up the hill.

Such a delightful place to hike - inside I95/ 128! Great views of Boston , lovely babbling brooks, awesome granite and a look at the trails of an old New England ski area that closed long ago. This park has all sorts of programs as well. Definitely a hidden gem.

Smallish art museum on the Brandeis campus. Completely free with free parking but there is a donation box. Fairly empty on a Saturday. There is no cafe. Wonderful assortment of artwork including a Picasso. There is a space with very high ceilings in the back of the building where you can find a large collection of excellent contemporary art. This part is the jewel of the museum as far as I am concerned. It rivals the ICA in many ways. You can see everything in about an hour. Bring your children or the grandparents.

Came to see Salman Toor's No Ordinary Love, which was incredible. Overall a wonderful collection and space. Student attendants/staff were wonderful, well-informed and gracious. I feel very fortunate to have access to this kind of institution.
Lovely gem of a museum. Very limited parking BUT the few spaces are VERY close to the front door.

Small but very quality works and presentation/display around rotating themes. Plan to spend up to an hour unless there is something specific you are interested in. The Rose is much more than a small university art museum home for donated works. Be sure to register (free) on line before visiting.

I was at the museum and saw my picture from 1961.
Great location park in Waltham MA. Admission is free. Multiple hiking trails (although almost all start uphill). The top offers a great view of Boston (sadly we were there on one of the days with the wildfire). Can drive all the way to the top and there is a handicap accessible trail to overlook. Definitely recommend.

Enjoyed seeing the history of Waltham. Lived there most of my life. I know a lot about the city but learned a lot of new things about my hometown.
Rose Art Museum is located at Brandies University, it is free and open to the public. There’s a small parking area in front of the museum which towards the back of the campus along the loop road.

The modern/contemporary collection is among the best in New England. Since Covid- they’ve been mostly spotlighting the permanent collection and you’ll find works from Frida Kahlo to Matthew Barney. A good selection of minimal and color field works as well.

It’s a great little museum to check out- a small gallery on the first floor and then some larger rooms downstairs. Plus it’s only 20 minutes from Boston. Thumbs up

Wonderful Museum of a Community proud of its Industrial Heritage. I enjoyed it immensely. Very interesting displays of City Police and Fire/ Rescue Heritage. “Watch City “ watchmaking relics including a face panel from Waltham’s old giant Tower Clock. Several Displays of Vintage Apparel, Military History, Firearms and Industrial Leaders and Notable Figures. Our group went to see the restored Orient Buckboard made in Waltham. We parked on the Street, but a Parking Garage is across the Street from the Museum. Wonderful old Brick Building with a historic Firehouse next door. Very friendly and knowledgeable Docents with well displayed and informative material. The Museum features Metz and Orient Automobiles and Orient Bicycles and Motorcycles made in Waltham. Quite a bit on Bicycle Racing History. This Collection should be viewed in conjunction to a visit to the Metz Estate at Gore Place.
Enjoyable hike! Not too difficult but there are some challenging parts. A lot of interesting plants and insects along the way! Gorgeous view of Boston! We came in early and it’s so serene and beautiful :) really enjoyed it!

Very good grounds for children, nice uphill trails, view points, picnic areas and attraction like a Glacial stone make this park a welcome space in Waltham. The trails are marked and pets on leash are allowed. Note the park rules on the pictures.

Great park for a small hike and long walk. Park in the lot and walk the road or hike the hill trails. Dogs can go off leash if well trained. Wonderful scenery. View at the top is amazing on a clear day.

Recommend taking dogs before 10am along the road before traffic is let in. Plug in cars can park across the road for charging at the ice rink.

Use the sledding hill on winter.

I didn’t know what to expect, my husband found this museum and we quickly secured tickets for the next day on our way out of Boston. I was really delightfully surprised with the eclectic collection of interesting art. The highlight for me was the terrific Frida Kahlo exhibit. Some of the items in the permanent collection were a little bit less accessible/interesting for me but I enjoyed browsing through everything. We probably spent a good two or three hours exploring the museum, and on top of all that it was completely free! How great is that?

I did want to add that there is a somewhat strange feeling one may get from being stared at by the guards. I saw this referenced in a couple of earlier reviews. I get it, they need to make sure that people are not touching or getting too close to the art but I’ve been to many museums all over the world and honestly never had this feeling of being stared at.

Really lovely museum - diverse collection of modern art. Currently a special exhibit on Frida Kahlo. One of the few university museums to open up with precautions. You must sign up on line - with only 20 people admitted per hour, good social distancing. Masks required. Parking nearby and very easy in the summer. Admission is free, donations accepted at the door but no pressure. 💜🧡💙💚
The museum displays have been been updated. This is a great way to spend a few hours if you are interested in history.

Amazing artifacts of the families who built Waltham and the Famous who called Waltham home. The police room had handcuffs, badges, uniforms, and old police logs.
