A great Botanical garden to hide from the summer heat. You can find a variety of plants, flowers, trees, cactuses and info about them and about the wild animals around the place (especially birds). We went there one hour before closing and all the greenhouses were closed. There was also a Bonsai tree exposition, also closed unfortunately. I totally recommend this place, but make sure to come early and look in advance for possible events or expositions.
Peacefull place with green. Highly recomended. Ticket prize 15 lei ( May 2024). Has museum inside Could be hard if you have motion distriction.
An amazing place to visit in the heart of Cluj- Napoca. Definitely come in mid April to see the wonderful tulips they have here.

It is clear than the place need improvements, the budget allocated visible not enough… such a complex ecosystem need more attention and this can be fulfilled with peoples…

Springtime makes the season plants to 🌸 🌼 blossom,the Japanese garden was open,not in the 🌵 area nor carnivorous plants,so pity!In my humble opinion the Garden still need lots of work on it.A good thing was that the toilets were open for free and clean. We had an ice cream, too,more costly than the entry ticket, though. Another plus i give for the coffee plant which I bought at the entrance and I just collected when we left the Garden.
This garden must be much better in summer. We were here in the end of March, and there were barely any plants. It seems that most of the plants in this garden bloom in spring, and if you come here in winter there's not much to see. However, they still charge you 15lei per person and they don't warn you in the entrance. We were disappointed.
It was a gem close to the centre of Cluj. There is a water tower turned into a viewing point, which is quite unique. The Japanese garden is well designed, but at present closed for maintenance. 15 lei entrance. The roses are savagely pruned, but that's obviously the way to do it.
Very interesting museum about the daily lofe and all the historic tools used for all type of activities with the hand. I especially liked the exhibition about traditional clothes and dresses of the different regions and some nice historical photographs. Highly recommended
We came in December. There was snow when we came. So while there were not a lot of plants growing outside, it was still very beautiful to see a carpet of small white. The greenhouse was magical. It made the visit well worth it. There are so many different types of plants inside. I would recommend going even for this. The cost was 15 lei per adult.
Still on works, but the rooms of the city history are good. Pity they don't have the main text in English (you need a handed copy, it is nice but not the same).
It's not really worth it, to be honest. It's a small collection of very classic artists. I wish we could get some representation of younger, upcoming talent and promote them. The temporary exhibition was the most disappointing, in terms of quality and presentation likewise. The building also requires some updates - It's not in great shape at all.
All exhibitions were professionally curated and with great attention to detail, but the one on Ancient Egypt is breathtaking! A very well preserved collection of artifacts dating from the Middle Kingdom to Ptolemaic Egypt, unique in Romania as far as I know. Surprising enough, the entrance was free.
A surprise for us and also for our kids. We visited a rock exhibition and then we saw a Lego exhibition. But passing through the Lego stands we watch with a big curiosity over the daily exposition. All was Great!
Wer denkt, er würde hier mit wissenswertem bedacht, irrt gewaltig. Alle Informationen sind auf rumänisch, nichts ist in englischer Sprache. Umgeworfen hat mich das, was ich auf zwei Etagen gesehen habe, auch nicht. Die EUR 4,00 kann man sich getrost sparen.
Came Oct. 2023, this place is awesome!. My husband and I stayed for two hours and could of stayed longer. Will come again and again. Note they do not take bank cards only cash.
Very excellent small museum with local history from neolithic period to present. Most of signage in Romanian but easy to translate with google lens. There is a small but excellent Egyptian exhibit as well. Figure 1.5 hours to cover the exhibition. There are stairs and clean restrooms.
Don't waste your time. The entire museum is four rooms and does not cater to non-Romanian tourists. The only thing offered was one photocopied page in English for the the whole museum. You'd think they'd make more of an effort, as the only paying customers in the entire museum were non-native speakers.
To top it off, the woman working the tickets/concessions was rude, dismissive, and rolled her eyes every time we tried to communicate. Sorry, we're tourists and don't speak Romanian... I guess we'll take our $$$ elsewhere.

Visiting this place is really good idea for anyone who likes nature. It’s also good place for walking. Visiting takes about 1,5 hours.
Loved it here a lot! Specialy the stream in the woods and the greenhouses. Worth visiting.
Superb ethnographic museum. Probably the best in Romania. Interesting quality exhibits and informational. The staff is friendly. Couldn’t get VR headset to work but since it’s rare to even see those , it wasn’t a big deal. Back to the manual tools for me.
The art is beautiful but the museum gets boring very fast. There is no context or anything about the romanian art history or the artists that are shown in the museum. I hope they get funds to make this museum what the art deserves
A small but decent museum of local history. They have local Roman and even some Egyptian artefacts. They need descriptions in English (and Chinese) for the eventual tourist boom
A large and wonderful botanical garden. The greenhouses are packed with amazing plants and trees. The evergreen forest is extensive and you don't feel you are in the middle of a busy town! The Japanese garden, the flower displays, the tulips, the roses, were all nicely tended and in full bloom! Must visit if you're anywhere near Cluj-Napoca! Great for the whole family.

The art in itself is beautiful, but the building is not well maintained. There are no audio guides, it gets very boring after 2-3 rooms. No air conditioning/clima.
Romanian cultural authorities are underfunding these institutions, Museum employees unfortunately can't change most of these aspects.

Botanical garden is nicest at the entrance and fades when you go around the park. Bit dissappointed overall to the park especially since they claimed to have a Japanese garden which ended up being a bad imitation of one.
Great place to learn about the history of the local area and of Romania overall, a lot of sightings and attractions
This is an amazing garden with tons to see! We walked around for hours just enjoying the flowers and plant life. The Japanese garden was peaceful and the greenhouse had a lot of interesting plants. Would definitely recommend if you’re in Cluj

Wonderful building. Beautiful interior. This is a place that hosts all sorts of out of the ordinary events for the bohemian part of society. It's not just a gallery, but a place where you can enjoy shows regularly, book launches, concerts, etc.
I especially liked the temporary exhibitions but the permanent one had some nice pieces as well. Even the local artists had some good paintings among the more known ones like Luchian and Grigorescu.
The building is pretty old, and it has wooden floors which are very squeaky :))) so tread carefully around so they don't cause much noise

A somewhat macabre and weird museum but an interesting way to spend an hour, if no other option remains.
The specimens on display are all several decades old, which gives the entire place a very very special vibe - Somewhere between creepy and fascinating (As you can surely take from the pictures I added to this review).

Tiny but representative museum where one can get to know the ethnic diversity of Romania in 18-20th centuries. The variety of traditional clothes impressed me. There was also an art exhibition by a modern artist who reinterpreted the Christian motives.
It’s a quick and simple way to get a brief overview of Romanian culture, so I definitely can recommend.

Wow wow WOW! Highly recommended place to visit at any time of the year! We went there twice and on Saturday it was much less people 😁 Very well organised space, reasonable price (15 Ron). Make sure that you will visit “Green house” 👌🏼

A beautiful museum right in the heart of the city. The museum also holds temporary expositions, like the lego exposition, an interactive experience for children and adults alike.

The museum is located in the Banffy Palace building. So you can visit two attractions at the same time :)
The parquet is so creaky, it's annoying. The staff is polite. permanent and temporary exhibitions are quite interesting.
The expositions are located on two floors, and you need to buy a ticket on each floor. The prices are adequate. You can also buy tickets separately for the permanent exhibition, and temporary, and all together.

An authentic Japanese garden in very beautiful Botanical garden in Cluj. I feel as if I were in Japan whenever I come to this place.
Beside the garden there is also a “Tori-i”, a traditional gate (normally at the entrance of a Shintoism shrine in Japan).
If you enter this gate and go up to the hilltop, there isn’t any shrines but you can find a place with a mysterious and sacred atmosphere with round stones.

5/5 weil es zwar ein wenig gruslig, aber richtig interessant ist. Die Exponate sind etwas in die Jahre gekommen, das liegt aber daran, dass sie teilweise 200 Jahre alt sind. Die Atmosphäre ist toll und man fühlt sich wie ein Entdecker :)

I came for the creepy taxidermy and I was not disappointed. This place is brimming with odd and beautiful specimens from across the animal kingdom. The museum was nearly empty when I visited on a warm Thursday afternoon in August.
A must go place in Cluj. Entrance is 10 lei for Adults and 5 for Students.
Nice examples of Romanian art through the 16th century through now. Small collection, it only took about 40 minutes to go through. I was disappointed that I was charged to visit the temporary exhibit but it wasn't open yet.

I love it ! The most amazing animal museum I have seen, so cheap, for students it's just 4 lei, it's amazing cheap and full of animals, sea, animals, fly animals, and hundreds of bugs, perfect for kids and adults
Main attraction point of the Botanical garden . Beside it, there are other nice places/things you can see and visit inside the garden , but this one is the best. The small lake, vegetation, bridge and pagoda makes you wonder what these look like in reality -in Japan - . For sure this place, and the entire garden, are a must if you visit Cluj for rhe first time, or just want to get away from the crowded areas of the city.
A beautiful and detaild museum of history, definitely worth a visit. I added a lot of photos to this review and they may be covering 20% of the actual museum. Maps, layouts, pictograms, sculpture and actual weapons are to be discovered in those rooms.

A beautiful museum with involved staff. If you are an admirer of visual arts this is (obviously) the place for you, from sculpture to famous paintings and everything in between.
Bonus points for the architecture of the building and the way they made use of it to enhance the aesthetic of the museum.

Great art collection. They need proper signs to get to the ticket sales office. Was a bit confusing. There are lovely paintings and sculptures : Tonitza, Grigorescu, Pallady, Luchian, Paciurea, Petrascu etc
Nice visit, I was looking for a big collection of Romanian Traditional outfits, but they didn’t have that much. Great customer service, the lady who works at the ticket office and the lady working at the gift shop were very nice.

Beautiful place inside the Botanical Garden of Cluj. One water pond, a small island, 2 bridges and a terrace.
Wow, what a time capsule! Well most of the animals are pretty old, so don't get too caught up in the looks. I mean if you want to see the real deal just turn on the tv and watch national geographic, or go to the zoo. But still most of the stuffed animals are in pretty good shape for being more than 50+ years old. Just take your time and enjoy, this place has a magic of it's own!
It's not a really big exhibition, but the paintings are nice. Well known artists like: Grigorescu, Tonitza, Luchian and local artists also + they usually have temporary exhibitions showcasing contemporary artists

Beautiful place! It has an impressive number of species, most of them greatly preserved. Also a great place for kids, there were a lot of families visiting with their children while we were there. The only downside of this Museum is that the location is a bit hidden and also..not enough marketing so you can only find this place after a more intense search on google:)
For Lego enthusiasts, this is the place to see some old Lego set's and nice town setting-up.
