Beautiful square next to the National theatre with many benches and small squares with flowers and trees! Around you will find cafe's, restaurant's and and small stores.
Union Square or Piata Nirii is a popular spot for locals and tourists. It's a great place to relax, people can enjoy the view, or enjoy a meal at one of the many cafes and restaurants.
Very clean and nice place. Great vievs of old buildings, and also old Tram in front of that buildings.

Set in the centre of Timisoara this is a beautiful place to see. The architecture of the buildings are beautiful and shows the older style of a Romanian city. They are so ornate and picturesque. It's quite a large place and around the edges of the square there are cafes and restaurants a plenty. A place where you can sit and relax to eat or drink. And easy to access if your disabled. There are access footways to other parts of a beautiful centre. I've sat here on a beautiful day to eat or drink and felt totally relaxed. There are no car's in these areas which is wonderful. It's a must see place as are the other squares. Go you won't be disappointed.

Beautiful square with lots of flowers, trees and benches, perfect for taking photos. We visited in early April, when all tune flowers were in full bloom.
At the end of the square there is beautiful Romanian Orthodox church of Holy Three Ierarchs, definitely woth a visit.

Beautiful square, with many beautiful old buildings surrounding it, lots of grass areas and many nice cafés and restaurants if you need to take a break.
The Romanian Orthodox church which dominates the square was closed for renovation, but we visited Serbian Orthodox church which has strong historical significance.

Very nice square especially in easter there are many of blooming flowers. There are some buildings in reconstruction so sometimes the view is not good. Ič you go Timisoara, this is must have seen place.
Very interesting
Lots of greenery and significant buildings: a theater, a fountain, a she-wolf statue with Romulus and Remus, and the Romanian Orthodox Cathedral in the background.
Pretty city center with a lot of Christmas bazaars during our stay in the beginning of January. The parking is not difficult in the center, especially if you going to the main parking lot in the center. That is around 100-200m from the center.
Lovely pedestrian square half way between old and new city center. Five minute walk from Union square or Opera house. Some beautiful old buildings all around, old city hall and army garison can be found here, monument in the square center is dedicated to the black plague victims. Sometimes public concerts and events occur here. Tram station in the north part of the sqare. Close to many eating or drinking places.

If you come to Timisoara Romania i recomand you to visit the The old Town is amazing place.. in the night you have a lot of lights
And is a masiv place you can see al center just wolking 30..40 min.. You have a lot of coffee shops and Pubs.

Good progress has been made to make good use of these historical buildings. The staff of the younger generation is very accommodating and happy to help. The older generation ... But I guess it is hard to get rid of the attitude acquired during communist times in organisations that still operate like then.
A beautiful old town, with great architecture, magnificent parks, and wonderful places on the river. The only thing that I didn't like was pretty high prices in restaurants.
Going to Timisoara for a one day break was a good idea. The city center is well maintained, there are interesting pieces of architecture everywhere, everything is clean, lots of restaurants, young people, tourists.,

The square is also a great place to people-watch, or to enjoy a coffee or meal at one of the many outdoor cafes.
The old town is also a great place to shop for souvenirs or to enjoy a traditional Romanian meal. There are many small shops and restaurants selling everything from traditional Romanian handicrafts to international cuisine.

In 1848, with the outbreak of the Hungarian revolution, the name of the square was changed to Piața Libertății. After the Austrian army recaptured the city, the square was again called Prințul Eugen Square. The square is also called "Old Town Hall Square", the building being built in Baroque style. On the three sides of the monument, scenes from the last period of the life of Saint John Nepomuk are represented. In its center is Saint Nepomuk, and at the top is Saint Mary with a crown of stars around her head and holding lily flowers, the symbol of purity.
It's beautiful here, wonderful for wandering round and something new round every corner. The architecture is like something out of a hundred different fairytales
One of the best places to walk around and enjoy the beautiful city of Timisoara! Since my visit last year, they’re dramatically remodeling and increasing attractions to do in the square. There is now a large multi story plant tower you can tour for views of the square, interesting facts, entertainment, and more. It offers a great view off of both sides from the top level. This area in general is great to access tons of great restaurants as well!
It's a historical place, but it's also filled with nice restaurants, I really recommend people to visit this place for a complete Timisoaran experience
Beautiful square full of great architecture. Also a great place to grab food and drink from one of the various places around. It's places like this that make Timisoara special. Such a lovely city 🏙️
A somewhat very good balanced combination between recently renovated and unkept historical buildings, each with it's own beauty. Very animated, full of life city centre even in the late hours.

It's one of my favourite places when in Timisoara. Beautiful architecture and a lot of cafes and restaurants. Also, a good place for a walk and visiting the cathedrals and the art museum.
Theresia Bastion named after the Austrian Empress Maria Theresa, is the largest preserved piece of defensivewall of the Austrian-Hungarian fortress of Timișoara. It covers about 1.7 hectares of the city center. It was builtbetween 1732–1734. Today it is used as a passage, but it also houses commercial spaces, restaurants, bars.
After the conquest of Timișoara by the Habsburgs in 1716, it was realized that the old fortifications could notcope with new fighting techniques, therefore it was decided to rebuild the whole city in Pagan style (a fortress-stronghold of a stellar shape). It had an area larger than the Ottoman medieval fortress. The city wassurrounded by three stellar belts that could be filled with water. Access was via three gates: of Vienna,Petrovaradin and Transylvania (completely demolished in 1891). The nine bastions of the fortress were namedafter kings and queens or generals. In the second half of the 19th century, the majority of the city walls wasdemolished to make room for the rapidly expanding city.

Last remaining bastion of the 18th century fortification. Well preserved, but it could have been used in a much better way.
You can see the investment of the EU in Romania. A lot of it is still being fixed and restored. Nice ambience, interesting history, wide Square, nice view.

Beautifully reconditioned and re-purposed 18 century fortifications. The place does, however, need a lot of work in terms of promoting it. Amazingly helpful and friendly staff at the Info booth.

Interesting historical perspective of the plague
La statua della Vergine Maria si trova di fronte al vecchio municipio. Fu eretta in memoria di coloro che morirono nell'epidemia di peste che dilagò sulla città. fu scolpita nel 1740 a Vienna., sul basamento è scritta la storia di S. Giovanni Nepomuceno che fu gettato dal ponte Carlo IV di Praga per non aver svelato le confessioni della regina.
The Bastion used to be part of the old Citadel, being an arrow-shaped space in the North. These walls were all that remains from what surrounded the city in the 19th century as they were taken down under Austro-Hungarian Empire.
Right now there is a museum in renovation (hope to see it in 2021) and a delicious restaurant and flowers everywhere.

La statue de Saint jean Nepomucene et de la vierge Marie sur la place de la Liberté est une des statues baroque les plus célèbres de la Ville. Relativement bien entretenue elle sert de nichoir à bon nombre de pigeon de la place.
Pigeons find here a place of rest.
