I have lived here my whole life and just went in. It is a must see for anyone visiting or who has lived here
What was open was great! The downside was the damaged boardwalk. It was unrepaired and required visitors to backtrack to get out. If routine maintenance was done, this would be awesome.
A nice visitor area to spend a few minutes seeing the animals, artifacts and get some basic info about the area. A nice easy trail on the boardwalk and in the future there will be more trails. They have bathrooms in the visitor center
Nice viewing area along a boardwalk style path. Free to enter. Small museum with live animals inside the visitor center. Short trail. Lots of native plants to look at along the way.
Super cool inside there were a lot of displays of animals in drawers (taxidermy) the path to walk was nice too!
Lots of interesting artifacts. Great rainy day trip. Parking was the hardest part of the visit.
It was a winter day so there was little to no wildlife, however, looking at wood mushrooms and other fungi as well as the interesting patterns that rooted up trees create was wonderful. We did decide it was not a place to during a lightening storm. I can’t wait to go back when it warms up. The displays were very well done.
Or was small and free, plus they have docents. The upstairs 3d photography exhibit was my favorite part.
Oh this is SO beautiful! The visitor Center is very informative & the displays are top notch. The education room at the end of the hall has microscopes you can use to look at samples of different items that are on the table you can look at. Boardwalks are great!
Surprisingly good little museum exploring the history of Fairhope, one of the cutest towns on the Gulf Coast. Great artifacts and interpretive materials throughout the well-kept museum space. And, admission is free!
The reserve is great. The pitcher plant big boardwalk was fantastic. The visitor center is pretty old and the exhibits are old and faded. It's a wonderful place that's in desperate need of a fresh telling of it's story.
This museum is a well done local archive of information. Well worth a visit and free.
A truly awe-inspiring place. The people here are passionate about nature and educating others! You will be thankful you stopped in to see and learn about our beautiful Weeks Bay. This is also a great place to visit if you are interested in seeing some really unique ecosystems like a pitcher plant bog!
I've never stopped and explored Fairhooe as I did yesterday. I have always wanted to stop & explore the beautiful little historic town that my grandmother was from, but when I came upon the adorable (FREE) museum I had to stop. It featured the first firetruck, jail, and many other wonderful things including the notable people of Fairhope. If you love history & historic this, this is definitely one to stop & admire.
There was a lot of information packed into this little museum. There is no admission and everyone is friendly and helpful. It is wheelchair accessible as well.

.What an experience. I came to this town by chance but I also don't believe in coincidence. This 2 floor museum is full of history and surprises. I didn't know about Organic Education or Single Tax corporation. The relics of history here are vast and can't say enough about the man at the door with the Mayor sign on desk. Hilarious and true asset to the character of museum. The photos and biographies are in murals and videos here and it quaint yet spacious enough to roam. Very well organized and interesting like the town of Fairhope itself
