Really pretty from the outside.
A good phot spot for wedding photos.
A good phot spot for wedding photos.

Lively square at the center of town with a large cathedral, some interesting statues and a very intriguing mix of old and modern in the surrounding buildings. There are plenty of benches where to sit and chill and listen to live music by street performers. Lots of cafes on the square itself and on the surrounding pedestrian streets. As it gets crowded, just beware of pickpockets.

Lovely Cathedral, very busy plaza, lots of stores, unfortunately the National Museum was closed. The grounds were dirty, lots of paper, bottles, etc. I was warned to hide the phone and camera, All went well, and nobody was trying to rob me. If the grounds were cleaner, I would have given it 5/5.

Pretty nice place to hang out.
It was really packed, we were there in a Saturday. So it’s better to go there on a weekday.

Main plaza from santiago, the presidents house. places where chilenos goes with the pets and toddlers on weekend.

Beautiful and charming. There are museum and metropolitan cathedral and many restaurants and cafes around it. It's quite interesting to sit and chill here a bit.

It's huge, interesting to visit there are many securities inside and outside, we couldn't visit inside.

Free public park to walk around. A small pond with swans. Can see the tallest (62 stories) building in entire South America. Nice to see couple dog houses for the stray dogs in the area.

Great park in the middle of the city. Super clean and way safer than I expected.

Fabulous - so much information on Chile’s history- we’ll worth the time spent there

I have been told this is a wonderful museum but sadly its closed when we went. And I just got to know brief history from my tourguide

Nice building and super cool garden.
The giant flag in front ia a plus.

No english text, and even if you use your phone to translate the text does not go into much detail into the historical contexts. Museum is free but is high effort for any non-Spanish speakers for very little reward

Looks clean, more security.

This is a rather miniature museum. For a national level museum, it has only about a dozen small rooms. The museum is located next to Plaza de Armas, its brown-yellow construction doesn't resemble the local style but rather that of the distant Iberian Peninsula.
Admission is free, much like many museums in Santiago, which reminded me of the UK. The tour guide at the entrance was very enthusiastic, but there were no English introductions within the entire venue, everything was in Spanish. Thankfully, I had Google's photo translation tool.
The history of Chile is indeed not long. Compared to the European countries I've visited, as well as China, my homeland with an ancient civilization, most of the exhibits start from the 16th century. The most comprehensive exhibits probably pertain to the 19th and 20th centuries. The main focus of the 19th century was independence, influenced by many European ideologies, such as the French Revolution and the American Independence Movement. The history of this period was largely marked by the use of firearms.
After the political situation stabilised somewhat in the 20th century, a significant amount of money was made from selling hydrochloric acid. The country thus stepped into the high-income bracket. The industrial port cities along the coast attracted many British businesspeople. Their homes were in Victorian style, while German immigrants headed south to farm and expand territories. Of course, the southward expansion of Chile inevitably led to many wars against local indigenous people.
Modern Chile, as an outstanding performer in Latin American economies, still experiences significant wealth disparity. But this seems to be a problem of the entire century. China also faces the same issue. Although the economy has taken off and the purchasing power of the wealthy has astounded the developed world, almost 30% of the Chinese population still resides in rural areas. Close to half of Chinese people earn less than 1000 Yuan a month.

If you like to walk the streets for souvenirs and food, then this is the place for you. We walked from Plaza de Armas to Mercado Central for king crabs and they were fresh and delicious. We also had some other dishes as well. This is a fun place to visit.

Another mandatory stop while in Santiago 🤗

A very well equiped park, there are restrooms, picnic sites, benches, big trees, and a lake with birds. The sound of this forest is perfect to take a time out from the noisy city.

It is a land mark from Santiago. There we could see the cathedral and the famous post office. There are so many museums but I could just go to pré-colombiano one. The famous sight And the statue of Pedro de Valdivia are there so it is a must-go place!

The collections are quite new and not so much varieties. Most of the art presented are in the 20th century. It is free of charge so you shouldn’t complain. The building itself is attractive though. Visitors are expected to put their backpack in the locker and you need 100 coin (which will be return when you get your bag back). Also you are asked to sign the visitor form.. they ask for your age not for which country you’re from which is odd for me. If you walk pass it, you should spend 1 hour stepping inside.

The cathedral is worth the time to visit. It is gorgeous! There are a ton of activities to wander around and enjoy. While we were there, there was an art exhibit with artists painting while you watched. If you have young children be cautious and aware of the "available women"

Nice vibe, art museum right there. Perfect area for those who appreciate the arts and culture.

Amazing! I loved this place. The vibe was awesome even though it was mostly quiet. I could tell that administration has a strong work ethic in terms of preservation of their arts collections, which is something nice. I loved their artwork collection from Europe and the US. They also have lots of artwork by Chilean artists coming from sculpture to portraiture.

Interesting place to walk around and see and/or buy handcrafted souvenirs made by local artisans. The Plaza is surrounded by many other points of interest, like the Museo Histórico Nacional, the Catedral Metropolitana, the Monumento al Pueblo Indígena, etc. There are also many restaurants and shops surrounding the Plaza.

Picturesque and family friendly by day, it turns a bit more sombre and hectic at night.

One of the historic places in Santiago. The park is big and has a lot of possibilities to sit down. You find the tourist information there, as well as the cathedral and some other places. The most relevant parts of the park are in my opinion the maps at the floor which can be easily overlooked next to the statue.

Some collections were interesting. However, not as complete or well-curated as one would expect of a national museum. The building is in need of upgrades. However, the staff was very friendly and helpful.

Takes care of all needs and are extremely friendly. Loved it there so much we went there again.

There is a luggage storage and it is a clean environment. It's very satisfying for a free place to visit.

You can enter after making a simple entry using the QR code at the entrance. The staff were very friendly and although it was not a very large museum, the paintings and works were very interesting and beautiful. Everywhere was kept clean, and each space was equipped with detailed explanations and chairs for viewing works. If you come to Santiago, I recommend this place because I think it is one of the places to visit. Even after watching, you can relax on the bench in front of the entrance, and if you have a group, it is a good place to have a conversation.

As an English-speaking traveler exploring South America, I've had the pleasure of visiting a variety of fascinating cultural institutions. Yet, during my recent visit to Santiago, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes truly stood out as one of the most unforgettable experiences of my journey.
The museum is housed in a magnificent early 20th-century building designed by the renowned architect Emile Jéquier. Combining Neoclassical and Beaux-Arts architectural styles, the museum itself is a visual treat, offering an impressive backdrop to its incredible collection of artworks.
Upon entering the museum, I was amazed by the vast collection of Chilean and South American art that spans over five centuries, from the colonial period to contemporary works. Not only does the museum showcase paintings and sculptures, but it also features installations, photography, and video art, providing a comprehensive insight into the region's artistic legacy.
The curation is thoughtfully done, with each room offering a distinct theme, style, or era, allowing visitors to embark on a chronological journey through the evolution of art in South America.
In summary, the Museo Nacional de Bellas Artes in Santiago is an absolute must-visit for anyone interested in art or the cultural history of South America. The museum's extensive collection, stunning architecture, and welcoming atmosphere make it a standout attraction in the city. If you find yourself in Santiago, do not miss the opportunity to visit this captivating cultural gem

Beautiful square and relatively safe to visit. Carabineros (police) are present throughout the perimeter. The architecture and history of Plaza de Armas is a must-see when in Santiago.

Very well maintained central park with lots of benches and shady spots to relax and people watch. It was very busy on a Sunday.
Surrounded on all sides by gorgeous buildings and lots of statues and with a noticeable police presence to keep things safe.
Various food and drink vendors are dotted about should you need a snack, but mostly junk food.

There were 4 different small exhibitions in different levels of this huge underground building when we visited.
My favorites were the Danish children's book illustrations showing how they have evolved over the decades and the photography exhibit of women football fans from South America and their various stories. Very moving or inspiring in many cases.
Some additional explanations in English would have been nice, but we are in Chile, so that isn't a criticism.

It is a good park with a lots of historical buildings in it. It attracts a lot of local as well as tourists. Locals come to play Chess and Draft as well as skate Boarding and skating etc. I heard there is quite a menace of pick pocketing, phone snatching and opportunist thieving etc. So one has to be extra careful around here which gives bad name to such a beautiful place.

One of the best museums I’ve ever visited. It doesn’t only show you art, it clearly has a mission: explains why the piece is important, and shows you its social context. This is not an exhibition - it’s a perfectly curated experience. Thank you.

Well amount of trees to rest under their shade and rustling leaves.

The inside looks really nice but I thought the exhibits were pretty boring and it didn’t help that there was absolutely no English anywhere. There are 6 exhibits total and 4 of them are free with 2 requiring a paid ticket.

We stayed in a hotel adjacent to this parque. It always seems to have plenty of locals enjoying the walks and the grassy places to lie down for a nap. On a Saturday there was continuous free entertainment for children. There are plenty of benches for sitting and dogs are welcome.

Amazing venue but no assistance for English speaking foreigners. One cannot even read through the exhibits which makes the experience very frustrating.

Average for the English speak.
Free entry and open on Sunday till 6pm
Description are in Spanish so not great for non Spanish speakers- could have a separate description book for different languages.
Not particularly big.

Highly recommended to immerse yourself in the history. Excellently presented. Also the photo documentation is on the highest (European) level.
It is a pity that there are no explanations in English in the rooms.

Big and modern building but only two spaces for small exhibitions. The rest are expensive stores about typical Chilean objects. Nothing about history here.

Hoped to be able to tour the inside, but they had pretty tight security around the building and not allowing tourists to even go inside of the perimeter fence that was set up.
Took a few pictures from the memorial plaza/park area adjacent to the palace. This building functions as a government/state building and houses many offices and meeting rooms for high ranking government officials in the Chilean government.
A nice display and many flags and memorials to past leadership are also found on the ground and around the area. This is one of the key buildings you'll find on many of the Chilean souvenirs. It's a significant historical landmark.

Giant flag, nice parks, did i mention the amazingly huge flag?!

Beautiful park! With beautiful trees! (Some of them are tragically dying, though). Excellent spot for dates, walking, reading, and bringing your pet.
Beware that is super dangerous during the night.

Perfect place to spend a Sunday afternoon

The building itself is an amazing work of art, and its free to enter!
The first have is where the fine art is located, but unfortunately when I was there it was mostly being worked on.
The second half is filled full of contemporary art, which i do not care for. But there was an exhibit full of back pen drawings of a more eerie nature that was quite interesting.
I can imagine it will be great while there done working on it, but at the moment it is more of a modern art museum than a fine one.

Beautiful place

A fair on sundays that you can sell or buy looots of things whatever you want.(clothes, toys or house detailing)

A leafy square in the middle of old (Barrio) Yungay neighborhood in Santiago, Chile highlighted when incoming President Boric revealed the location of the Presidential residence during his term, just few blocks away from the square.

Telling a story that is not likely to satisfy everyone but informative someone who knows little about the country (like me). Well organized and with some well designed scale models.

Great place to drink, eat and smoke

Quite dirty, games turn hot take care of your children. Come with coins, a lot of people would ask for. Thanks

Very very nice ambiance and mood, with a great jazz show when I was there. Terrific!

Great place for kids to run around or to lay down and chill.
It has a lot of green areas, many trees and an artificial lagoon for kids to throw out some rocks.
It also has some football pitches and bouncing castles on the weekends.

Great space to appreciate local culture and art. There are a couple of stores with excellent although expensive items. Entry is free but you need to reserve your ticket in advance. Staff can be rude at times but that's just another sample of the Chilean culture.

Nice place, however the security isn't good to children plays at the park. Look the photos

Nice square park to relax after work for a drink, with friends. In a beautiful a neighborhood with bars and restaurants.

I visited the new church which has been under construction as it received several damage after 2010 earthquake. It is a beautiful church right in front of Yungay's square.

This is a must to visit when in Santiago. The huge chilean flag and the beautiful square. Its a really nice location. And don't miss the museum that is under the place.

A museum and family oriented park. Right off the metro with plenty of places to eat and vendors selling water and sodas. Lots of kids and field trips come here

Fantastic Cultural center that is surprisingly hidden as it’s underneath the massive open space plaza above. There’s 2 small stairwells at either end which lead down underneath to the 2 story underground mall like area where many booths are dedicated as mini museums and others are gift shops showcasing local artwork and goods. Really enjoyed the art exhibits as they were showcasing a lot of unique pieces and many of them by less well known local artists that are only possible to be seen in Chile. There’s even a small theater although I did not get to personally experience it due to time constraints. You don’t have to budget too much time here but since everything here is free, feel free to spend as little or as much time as you would like.

Beautiful place to walk

Peaceful place to relax and have fun with family and friends. Although it is in the middle of a very big and polluted city, you can go there and breathe the fresh air of this beautiful green space.

………………..Must say this is not an impressive building like many of the “Capitalio’s” that we have encountered in our world travelling escapades. It looks more like a concrete fort two level high with only the centre been a level higher. There are armed sentries at the almost two storeys high double steel/wooden gates. Unlike many other Parliament building in the world here the public is not allowed entree. But we did discover later that if you booked a tour with a reputed or approved tour company then you would be able to go inside. A few statues of past president grace the surrounds and the lawns around the place is well kept and green. Two active fountains are in front of the building on either sides of the gate. A steel-mash barrier is placed in a front of the building and form a semi-circle from one end of the building to the other end this put the public at least 50 to 80 meters away from the entrance. Seven flag-poles fly the Chilean flags right here where the public can stand and observe the happenings around this important place! It was good to see and visit this place………………….

.....What a stunning building back to back with the La Moneda Palace (the state-lii office of the President) where the entrance to the building is downstairs and you have to walk down a ramp to get there! It’s no dull walk because the first sighting to greet you is the water cascading down the full length of the ramps width coming from the roof-top fountain indeed a pleasant watery sound and sight. Then you are greeted by the neat signage and the big glass entrance. The level on which you arrive give you the impression of a super large atrium with smaller galleries on either side! The design of this building seems to be around “Ramps” again to get downstairs you walk down the ramps on either side. Looking down you will see a large area with comfortable simple-settees where you can sit and enjoy the shadow-video shows playing on the walls. Downstairs there are the Cinemas, a nice size restaurant, lots of smaller shops selling books, jewelry and artwork. The restroom facilities are nice and clean. It is free to gain access to this beautiful exhibition center and it is a very worthwhile experience to visit here!.....

Great neighborhood to explore on foot and admire the countless murals.

Very nice place to enjoy the view of La Moneda. Sadly it is often closed to people and you have to go around it instead of through it.

Changing of the guard was really cool! We lucked out and stumbled into it... Had we known about it we would have made it a point to go. It changes days depending on the month...

Core of Yungay Neighborhood. Full of history and culture.

This park is a family favorite.
First, it's huge and it feels like there are endless corners and playgrounds to explore.
Second, there's always something to do...the handful of museums (some are free and others are a luca or two), a 'train' that takes you around the park ($1.000), the splash park, bike/trike rental ($150 a minute) and various kids activities like trampolines and watercolor painting (not free, but not expensive).
Third, it's not a new park, so it's full of beautiful old trees and interesting architecture all around.
Last, it's one of the easiest parks to get to; the metro dumps you out at the entrance, where you can grab some cheap street food before you head inside.

Really nice park in Santiago with a nice proximity to the Bellavista and the Vega market. There are two nice museums to visit and honestly it's a nice local spot with people just hanging out at any point of the day. Personally, I didn't love running through it because of streets breaking it up.

It's a big and beautiful park with lots of green areas and spaces to play or ride a bike, go on your skates or just enjoy the nature. It's awesome :)

This park seems to have everything, it's home to four museums with several other just outside the park. It is a Big Park with a small Boating Lake, an Athletics Track, Tennis Courts, a Swimming Pool. Lots of trees and places to sit in the shade. Nice place for walking or jogging. It was very quiet when I visited during a week day, daytime. I found it reassuring that the police patrol this park on motorcycles, perhaps after some incidents of robbery, but I felt quite safe.

Smells like beer and urine everywhere. Not very nice for your children. It has an interesting monument about Chilean history.

Gorgeous park, lots of places to stroll great running place. There is an escalade hub.

Beautiful park

I loved it! This park is for you relax and enjoy the weather. Many things to look at... you can come here and read a book, have lunch with the friends, run, walk or sociolize with new faces. Its green, its nice and clean. Lots of college students come here to read or hang out after school.

An amazing place. Great use if space and some exhibitions are free. We went to the paid for exhibition (on whales while we were visiting) which was free before 12. There are slso a couple of nice cafes here and a free bag check (we left all our panniers here while we went round the exhibitions). I think this is a must see if you are in Santiao.

Amazing city park that offers up all the necessities. From a large amphitheater with street artists singing and dancing for tips, to hundreds of street vendors selling delicious snacks and treats while others sell toys and trinkets. There's a small pond that allows paddle boats and lots of empty space to walk around enjoy the greenery and get away from the concrete jungle outside. Multiple fantastic museums located within the park also make it a great spot to spend some time.

This is a great Cultural Center in dowtown Santiago that exhibits a lot of different cultural and historical milestones. It houses some articles from the colony times which shows the history of Chile in a ver nice way.
The guides inside the building they are very helpful!.
I like:
-It's free
-Wheelchair accesible
-Various show rooms with different topics.
-Excellent location
-Helpful assistants inside the building
I don't like:
-No english translations for the exhibitions reviews. (That's why they get 4 out of 5 stars).
-Not properly advertised in the tourism industry.

It has a nice and open view of Palacio de la Moneda, the house of de Goverment of Chile.

A nice big open park with mature trees. A lovely oasis in the city. There are museums, fountains, a swimming pool, etc.

Lots of movement and fun in this place, people enjoing food and outdoor activities like roller skates just in front of La Moneda Palace.

Traditional and quiet place surrounded by nice bars.

Very lewish green big park with the small pond where you can swim if you want. Nice place to run play football, do yoga or come with family and friends

Nice place with a lot too see and seems to have a nice pool. Didn't go. A couple of museums and in general a nice "clean" park.

at morning its perfect quiet and peaceful, but night time its a stinky hole, not because of ppl that lives there, but because of Flaites thugs who make it stink.

Excellent views and it has a lot of terrace for walking, some guards don't get free your pet but it's a good place to share with family and children

Nice park with small lake. There is train park that is very good and is not much to go in. The museum is free and very interesting.
