Fantastic sandy beach.

A beautiful and long sandy beach

You are able to get one of the sweetest views of Chicago from here. Gary does get a bad name, yes, but don’t let the media fool you, it’s not all bad. There are plenty are beautiful areas, such as this one, lots of American history, and everyone I’ve met have been great.

Didn't have to pay when I went, it's a nice relaxing spot. Haven't seen it when it's busy yet.

The Beach area was beautiful at the time we ventured over. Our Maps gave us incorrect directions, and the gatekeeper at the Steel company said that it happens all the time. It's really quite sad that you are surrounded by these factories, and steel companies.
I did love the architecture of the Pavillions, and the somber time of year. The Dog Beach was nice for my dog to roam free.
It's also sad that the surrounding area is a little run down, and not maintained as far as roads, and businesses are concerned.

Dog friendly beach. Views of the chicago skyline. Nice decent water. Would recommend water shoes tho

The beach was great but the lifeguard was not. I was told I was one final wanting after 1 warning that I was "not watching my kids" who were in a wagon that was shaded EATING FOOD. I was in the water a good 10 feet from them, keeping an eye on them CLOSELY. Me and my friend believe that the other female lifeguard on duty was the one complaining. We were told we had to leave and the called the beach police on us for doing nothing wrong. I'm so hurt and insulted. Won't be back again.

This gorgeous beach is the westernmost beach in the Indiana Dunes National Park. There is a feeling of otherworldliness and isolation here, as it’s mostly empty, even in the summer. Beautiful shallow walk in waters to Lake Michigan and views of the Chicago skyline.
It can be reached by hiking the gorgeous Miller Woods Trail through the IndianaDunes National Park from the Douglas Nature Center. Also, it’s only steps to the west of Lake Street beach parking lot if you don’t want to hike.
