Beautiful place fairly busy service is every hour on Sundays lots of things to see around the court.
An archaeology that will make you feel wow. amazing design and landscaping. View from the top is really good. Take hop in hop off and am sure you can spend more then an hour easily at this point. Very peaceful and calm.
The site is absolutely stunning. I would recommend going on your own rather than a group as I did. We only stayed an hour, but there are so many churches to see, an hour is not enough, you would need around two to three hours to see and enjoy it all. I didn't find the new basilica very interesting, it is a bit too modern for me, but the old basilica and the one at the top are amazing. It is very interesting to feel how the first basilica is sinking into the ground, it seems like you are climbing up a little slope when you are walking up to the altar. The one on the little hill has incredible mosaics.
Amazing! Both old and new basilicas. Incredible grounds, gardens and churches. Very beautiful place -- truly the Vatican of Mexico. Respect...
The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is an extraordinary sanctuary that captivates the soul. Steeped in centuries of devotion, its beauty and significance transcend words. I urge everyone to visit this sacred place, to witness its grandeur and feel the spiritual embrace of Our Lady of Guadalupe. It's an experience of profound reverence and inspiration that will stay with you forever.
We arrived on a Sunday holiday weekend and it was packed. In all honesty, it was a wonderful experience to see so many people spend their Sunday at services. An incredible pilgrimage site. My wife and I are by no means religious, however the sheer presence and overwhelming feeling from so many people is nothing short of incredible.
Amazing to see the scale of this place with five different churches and room for tens of thousands of pilgrims. None of the churches seem particularly spectacular, especially the newest one; quite a miss from an architectural standpoint. But if you have religious feelings, it could be a deeply moving experience to visit here.
Huge new church with great modern design, surrounded by 2 older smaller churches. The 2nd biggest christian pilgrimage site in the world, after Vatican.
Beautiful basilica. Intricate and meticulous decoration within. Very crowded and busy with both local visitors and tourists. Worth a visit
Basilica de Guadalupe is an essential visit for anyone, but as a Catholic, it holds a profound significance. The serenity and sheer beauty of the place engulfed me with a sense of peace and awe. Being able to witness the Virgen de Guadalupe multiple times was a deeply moving experience. This sacred site exudes a tranquility that touched my soul.
I made the trip to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe fifty years ago with my family and can remember as an impressionable fifteen-year-old seeing the faithful walk on hands and knees to the shrine. Now the devoted ride by the image of the virgen revealed to Juan Diego on a conveyor belt.
Beautiful Church. Most definitely something every believer should experience at least once in their life time. Feels very peaceful and spiritual. They do have parking near by. We went on a tour during the week and it was a lot less crowded than when we went on actual Sunday. They do the blessings on the side of the church for all your items and yourself as well. Mass its almost every hour and taking a walk to the chapel on the hill its a most.
It was an amazing experience!!!

If you're in the area go!!!

You can also purchase souvenirs and have them blessed to take home. I recommend purchasing inside the basilica and not in the stores nearby. Or you could if you so choose and then tale them to get blessed

We got rained on during our visit but it was still so worth it !

Definitely a must visit if you're in Mexico City
Basilica in Guadalupe is a huge site. It is a Christian Catholic religious site. It has huge historic significance. It is one of the early site where a church was built and became popular among the locals. Later on, it became a significant site when Miguel Hidalgo included its symbol, and when U.S. and Mexico signed peace treaty there. There are a number of churches and chapels there. This is incidentally the second largest visited Catholic site after the Vatican. The new Basilica is an architectural beauty.
Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe and it was absolutely stunning. The old basilica had a 2.7% tilt, which was corrected to 2% in 2002, stabilizing the structure. The architecture and design of the church left me gasping and gave me chills all over my skin. However, I do recommend having a guide with you to explain the rich history behind this incredible landmark. It can get quite crowded, so plan accordingly. If you're planning a visit to Mexico City, this is a must-see destination!
Beautiful peaceful place must see.
A big church, different then the most churches in Mexico City.
Very beautiful place, really recommend getting your picture taken when going up to the original church. The pictures are cheap and very beautiful. There’s a store on top that is very affordable. Very beautiful view. I also recommend staying for the entire mass.
WARNING: if you go to the mercado to get food go in a group there’s a restaurant that will basically surround you a pressure you into their food when there is much cleaner and better options behind them. There’s much better food out of the basilica to but just don’t go to that group.
If you are here for the spiritual part then there is nothing to complain about. However if you are expecting something similar to Fatima or Lourdes you may get a bit disappointed. The architecture of the new basilica is not my favourite. Also there is this massive concrete square that makes the place feel less welcoming. The old basilica and the other facilities are beautiful.
Muy linda la capilla y muy emotivos los momentos ahí vividos
For devout Catholics with a special love for the Blessed Virgin Mary, a visit to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe can be transformative. This sacred site holds a special place in the hearts of millions, and it truly exemplifies the deep devotion and spirituality that radiate from every corner.

The high Mass held at the Basilica filled me with a heightened connection to the Divine and the closeness of the Blessed Mother.

Exploring the various shrines on the Basilica complex was like embarking on a sacred journey, each step deepening my appreciation for the miracles and blessings associated with Our Lady of Guadalupe. The atmosphere of prayer and reflection at the chapels dedicated to different aspects of Our Lady's intervention.

The garden walk surrounding the Basilica provided a peaceful respite amidst the bustling environment, allowing me to immerse myself in moments of contemplation and gratitude.

The Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe is a pilgrimage destination that truly embodies the essence of Catholic devotion. The spiritual energy and the vibrant faith of the people who visit this holy site are inspiring. It is a place where one can witness the transformative power of faith and experience the loving presence of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
There are three churches. The largest one when you first enter is the new one, It holds the shroud / vestment/ robe that has the projection of the Virgin Mary. You view it on a moving walkway. (Which is awesome because no one stands in your way).
The second church is the old church, it's beautiful and houses many works of art.
The third chapel sits atop the mountain. It's about 8- 10 flights of stairs, but there are also ramps. The ramps are a very steep incline.
It's small, but absolutely stunning at the top. I highly recommend traveling to the top if you can. Photos are not allowed in the chapel on the top of the mountain.
Visitors are not allowed in the church during the hours of service (worship).
I have no words to describe how beautiful this place is. I went early so it was perfect. The later you go the more crowded it is. The museum is amazing. The art is beautiful. You feel a tremendous peace.
A very short walk/hike from the Basilica de Guadalupe. It’s worth the visit, it’s a smaller church on top of a hill which overseas the Basilica.
Name on entrance is Sierra de guadalupe. Internet says park was open but on arrival both gates closed.
Nice park but smoggy. There was a boy who warned us not to hike up the hill because we’d get robbed of all our phones and belongings. Bless him 🙏

Don’t come if you’re not Mexican or don’t speak Spanish well.
Very nice park to see the whole city and surrounding areas as well

In A Nutshell:

-Parque Nacional del Tepeyac is just an okay park located along the outskirts of Mexico City.
-This park shows up a recommended place to hike when you do a search on Google.
-I took an Uber to/from this location.
-It's located in a less traveled area of town, so you won't see tourists, but you will see plenty of locals.
-Go if you want to escape the busyness of CDMX & want to get a good hike in that reward you w/ some nice views of the city.
-Don't go if you are intimidated by being far away & afraid of hiking nearly alone around the loop.
-I didn't measure the hiking trail loop, but I would guess it's at least 3 miles roundtrip.
-There were bathroom facilities that you pay a few pesos, there was also a nice outdoor workout area w/ plenty of pullups bar & other exercise stations.
-I really enjoyed using the pullup bars.
-I also enjoyed that there were not a lot of people using the trails, just a few joggers and a handful of hikers.
-There are plenty of flora & fauna to enjoy if you look closely.
-There is also a very tiny village located within the park that you walk by, some of the people who live there sell food from stalls, but it's a very rural setting.

Overall, this hike satisfied my need of knocking out a good hike w/ nice views & burning some calories w/ a nice sweat & workout at the end at the pullup bar.
Great location with plenty of great views of the city below . Gardens and fountains all around are a great sight. Great place to escape the hustle and bustle of the city .
Amazing place worth seeing! The fact that it was built in 1666 is just amazing. Climbing the hill was a bit of a challenge so TAKE YOUR TIME! Also please wear sneakers that are not slippery because i wore sandals and i fell on my way down. There are stairs and also a ramp for wheelchairs and walkers. On the very top, they have little shops for you to buy souvenirs, drinks and snacks. The view is amazing from top! Felt very peaceful.
Definitely recommend going
Great park for a nice walk or run or WORK OUT...... they have a full GYM 😱.... I took a nice walk along the main trail and the view was just breathtaking. It's a little crowded early in the morning but still enough space for everyone to walk or run comfortably. They have a map at the entrance but no marking along the trail ( could have been helpful since I went off trail and had to walk 30 mins before i find my way back) .... Overall amazing view of the city!!! Worth visiting.
Gorgeous hilly park with amazing panoramic views of the city when you get to the top. The solitude on the trails juxtaposed with the busy city below is quite the contrast. One of my favorite experiences so far in Mexico City.

I love the view of the city from the chapel. The church property is also beautifully maintained, making it a lovely walk up to the top. There is a ramp to the top as well, a big bonus for strollers.
For people who loves the outdoor, hiking, breath taking views of the big city, on Saturday and Sunday all the way on top of mountain there will be few local people selling, home made coffee, quesadillas, orange juice and candies for the children.

I really like that place and the nature around it. Once I was there with my boyfriend and my dog - Imbir (Ginger, loved dog died two months ago). We were picking up lilac flowers, to make a juice out of it. The fragrance of the flowers was strong and refreshing. It was a very sensual experience, touching the flowers and separating them from leaves and twigs. We still have the juice at home.
Bellísima, está justo detrás del altar de la Basílica. Muchos no lo perciben, por lo que la capilla no es muy concurrida. Es un lindo lugar para reflexionar lejos de las grandes multitudes.
📸😇👍
Loved it
It's a beautiful small chapel on top of a hill, you have to climb several staircases to get there. The way up and its surroundings are covered in lush green gardens with several plant species. The first constructions of the sacred site of this chapel began in 1666 when a devout local business couple commemorated the first appearances of the Virgin of Guadalupe and thus began the event by December 12th of that year. By mid 18th century the priest demanded a new chapel more spacious due to increasing pilgrims visiting each December 12th and the now known chapel was constructed in all its elaborate facade.
Beautiful little chapel. There are four paintings of the four appearances of the virgin Mary of Guadalupe to Juan Diego. All have English descriptions.
Unforgettable experience when you see here the portrait of Our Lady of Guadalupe.
An excellent place! Great mood.
