Visiting Golden Temple is a blissful experience. The holy shrine is something one must visit at least once in his lifetime.

Experience at the Golden Temple
recent visit to the Golden Temple in Amritsar was a truly memorable experience, marked by exemplary service and thoughtful amenities that made the trip exceptionally pleasant, even in the summer heat.
The Golden Temple, known for its spiritual significance and stunning architecture, is also renowned for its hospitality. Despite the scorching temperatures, the management has taken extraordinary measures to ensure the comfort of visitors. One of the most notable aspects was the presence of large coolers strategically placed around the complex. These coolers provided much-needed relief from the heat, making it easier to stand in line and explore the temple grounds without discomfort.
Additionally, the volunteers at the Golden Temple were continuously attentive and caring. As visitors waited in line, the volunteers tirelessly distributed water, ensuring everyone stayed hydrated. This small yet significant gesture showcased their dedication to serving the devotees and visitors, reflecting the true spirit of selfless service.
Overall, the experience was deeply enriching, not only spiritually but also in terms of the care and consideration shown by the temple staff and volunteers. The Golden Temple stands as a testament to hospitality and devotion, making it a must-visit destination for anyone seeking both peace and comfort.

A must visit shrine when you visit Amritsar. Plan at least 3 hrs for darshan as you will find lots of devotees. But the system is so smooth so no worries. Very peaceful.

Such a blissful visit we had at The Golden Temple... nicely maintained holy shrine... very soft spoken people and management... much recommended for people visiting Amritsar

What an amazing experience we had visiting the Golden Temple. I visited it on the day of Diwali and it was as crowded it could get... but the light decorations where absolutely incredible and the view next morning was amazing too.

The Golden Temple in Amritsar, also known as Harmandir Sahib, is an iconic Sikh religious site and a must-visit destination. It is a place of profound spiritual significance and architectural beauty. The stunning golden structure is surrounded by a serene and picturesque lake, creating a sense of peace and tranquility.
The temple complex is open to people of all faiths and offers free meals to visitors, showcasing the Sikh principles of equality and selfless service. The interior of the temple is equally impressive with its intricate artwork and gilded walls. The atmosphere is often filled with devotional music and a palpable sense of spirituality.
However, the temple can get crowded, almost daily and especially during religious festivals, so it’s advisable to visit during quieter times for a more serene experience. Overall, the Golden Temple is a unique and spiritually enriching place that is well worth a visit for its cultural, religious, and architectural significance.

My recent visit to the Harmandir Sahib, the Golden Temple in Amritsar, was a profoundly spiritual and unforgettable experience. It's a place where faith, beauty, and humanity. This visit makes a positive impact in my mind for the best.
Akal Takht:It's a place of historical significance and a must-visit for those interested in Sikh history and tradition.
Sikh Culture: While at the temple, I had the opportunity to learn about Sikh culture and traditions. The turbans, the recitation of Gurbani (Sikh prayers), and the rhythmic sounds of the kirtan (devotional singing) create a unique and immersive experience.
Langar : The Langar at the Golden Temple is a testament to Sikh principles of selfless service and equality.
In conclusion, the Harmandir Sahib is not just a place of worship; it's a spiritual journey that touches the heart and soul. It's a testament to the core values of Sikhism - humility, selflessness, and inclusivity.

Must visit to experience the history and pay homage to all the martyrs. The authorities recreated the visual experience through many exhibits and videos and pictures of the freedom struggle can be seen by visitors. The park inside is well maintained and key area of the place well marked etc.

An amazing heritage site...this is maintained so well, there are water coolers and washroom throughout the garden. The meuseums are so well maintained, that any Indian would feel proud. Must visit place if you are in Amritsar.

So, if you're a Sikh, or even an Indian, this place has significant historical importance. Absolutely a place of reverence and solemnity. For the non-Indian tourist, while historically significant, it won't hold the same deeply-felt emotions. Right next to the Golden Temple and worth visiting.

So this is a really fantastic experience. Do two things, hire a local guide and make sure you go very early to beat the long lines and heat. The temple is beautiful and the people watching is second to none. If you're a Sikh, it's a pilgrimage. Remember that this is the center of their faith and make sure you behave that way.

So lucky to visit this place. No words for this Temple. You get inner peace here. I stayed there for more than 24hrs. Humanity starts from here. Management is super awesome here. Hindu's temples need to learn enough from this temple.

Jallianwala Bagh is a memorial place in memory of brave people who sacrificed their lives for the nation.
Renovated to modern era, this place still unveils those past times and conveys the story of sorrow by several landmarks.
You can still spot those bullet marks on walls and the well is also intact (but covered). Nearby is a local chowk market close to which holy Golden temple is situated.

I visited Jallianwala Bagh in September 2023. I was deeply moved by the history and the significance of this place. The museum and the gallery were very informative and well-designed. They displayed the photographs, documents and artifacts related to the massacre and the freedom movement. They also had interactive exhibits and audio-visual presentations that narrated the stories of the victims and the survivors. I learned a lot about the events that led to the massacre, the atrocities committed by the British, and the aftermath of the tragedy.
The garden itself was very serene and beautiful. It had a large memorial statue, a flame of liberty, and a wall of martyrs. The bullet marks on the walls and the well where many people jumped to escape the bullets were preserved as reminders of the horror. There were also plaques and inscriptions that paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for the nation. I felt a sense of respect and gratitude for them.
I think Jallianwala Bagh is a must-visit place for anyone who wants to understand the history and culture of India. It is not only a site of memory, but also a site of inspiration. It shows how the people of India fought against oppression and injustice, and how they achieved their freedom. It also teaches us the values of peace, democracy and human rights. I highly recommend visiting Jallianwala Bagh to everyone.

This place is divine. It is huge, holds tremendous spiritual values and is governed by the faith and empathy of the devotees. I had to spend more than 7 hours here to have the darshan of the shrine, crowd management could have been way better but nevertheless the sanctity and divinity of the places dissolved all the complaints and tiredness. It a must visit for everyone living in this country. Wahe Guru 🙏

A person whose mind is not free, though he may not be in chains, is a slave, not a free man.

It is infamous for being the site of a brutal massacre that took place on April 13, 1919, during the British colonial rule in India. The incident, known as the Jallianwala Bagh massacre, is considered a turning point in India's struggle for independence.
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre occurred when a large crowd, primarily consisting of peaceful protesters, had gathered in the enclosed garden to protest against the repressive Rowlatt Act imposed by the British government. The troops continued to fire for about ten minutes until they ran out of ammunition.
The consequences of the massacre were devastating. Official records state that at least 379 people were killed, while unofficial estimates put the number much higher, with thousands injured. The incident shocked the entire nation and fueled widespread outrage against British colonial rule. It also led to the resignation of some British officials and served as a catalyst for the Indian independence movement.
Jallianwala Bagh has since been converted into a memorial and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices made during the struggle for independence. The site features a memorial monument, a well where many people jumped to escape the firing, and a wall with bullet holes as a testament to the brutality of the event. The Martyrs' Gallery and the Flame of Liberty are other notable features within the memorial complex.
Visitors from around the world come to Jallianwala Bagh to pay their respects to those who lost their lives and to gain a deeper understanding of the history and struggles of the Indian independence movement. The place stands as a symbol of courage, resilience, and the indomitable spirit of the Indian people in their fight for freedom.

History ✍️
The Jallianwala Bagh massacre, also known as the Amritsar massacre, took place on 13 April 1919. A large, peaceful crowd had gathered at the Jallianwala Bagh in Amritsar, Punjab, British India, to protest the Rowlatt Act and arrest of pro-independence activists Saifuddin Kitchlew and Satyapal. In response to the public gathering, the temporary brigadier general R. E. H. Dyer, surrounded the protesters with his Gurkha, Baloch, Rajput and Sikh troops from 2-9th Gurkhas, the 54th Sikhs and the 59th Scinde Rifles of the British Indian Army. The Jallianwala Bagh could only be exited on one side, as its other three sides were enclosed by buildings. After blocking the exit with his troops, he ordered them to shoot at the crowd, continuing to fire even as the protestors tried to flee. The troops kept on firing until their ammunition was exhausted. Estimates of those killed vary from 379 to 1,500 or more people and over 1,200 other people were injured of whom 192 were seriously injured.

When I reached and I saw a short film on base on 1919, I got goosebumps. I was totally speechless for some time and realised what the people did not suffer for freedom.

Beautiful place of worship. Definitely a must visit. The place is super clean. We had the langar Prasad for breakfast. The visiinside the shrine took us 2 hours. Wish there was a separate queue for those who had to go in as an emergency - like young kids and those with medical conditions. They had to elbow push their way in. Free storage for footwear and bags

This temple is very peaceful and calm. The Golden Temple is known to have one of the biggest community kitchens in the world, serving thousands of people every day.
It’s hard to tell when it's best to visit the Golden Temple, but at night, the shimmering gold and pristine white of the structure shines brighter than ever.

Beautiful, serene and peaceful place. You may have to spend a little time in queues depending on the time of the visit but the beauty and aura of positivity is oozing around the place. There is a bit of strictness nowadays with how you should carry yourself inside the premise.
I recommend everyone to visit the Golden Temple just to enrich yourself with the whole learning and history that comes with it.

Excellent flashback to an important piece of history. The audio video laser shows are mind blowing and transport you to that day. Visit the museum, say your prayers in Golden Temple next door and come back for the sound and light show. Go back to see the Golden Temple in all it's lit finery.
Everything is free and so well maintained. I can't wait to go back

This is a lovely place to visit free of charge and details the massacre of Jallianwala Bagh. The indoor exhibits are good are let down by poor projections which could be better if it was projection mapping. Also security staff use their whistle instead of leaving their chair to deal with any visitors. It can get hot outside but there is plenty of shelter. Its surprising to see that before during and after the massacre the authorities passed laws to control people, controlled the press, controlled the meeting up of people and had trials without legal judiciary!

It's a historical place which reminds us of all the sacrifices and troubles we had to go through to get our freedom.
You can see the bullet marks and well which was described in our history books. You get to re live the old days and count our blessings for the freedom we have now.
It's a must visit if you go to Amritsar. The gallery and the history displayed was very good.
There is a small theatre on the 1st floor which was a short 5 mins video.

The Jallianwala Bagh is closer to the golden temple, the place is very well maintained. The gallery has many pictorial representations and a few visual aids to understand the unfortunate incident. It's a free to enter site. It has many small galleries explaining the horrific incident which occurred during British rule. The place is well maintained and there is a light show everyday in the evening around 6pm.

The Akal Takht ("Throne of the Timeless One") is one of five takhts (seats of power) of the Sikhs. It is located in the Darbar Sahib (Golden Temple) complex in Amritsar, Punjab, India. The Akal Takht (originally called Akal Bunga) was built by Shri Guru Hargobind Ji as a place of justice and consideration of temporal issues; the highest seat of earthly authority of the Khalsa (the collective body of the Sikhs) and the place of the Jathedar, the highest spokesman of the Sikhs.
Originally known as Akal Bunga, the building directly opposite the Harmandir Sahib was founded by sixth Sikh Guru, Guru Hargobind, as a symbol of political sovereignty and where spiritual and temporal concerns of the Sikh people could be addressed. Along with Baba Buddha and Bhai Gurdas, the sixth Sikh Guru built a 9-foot-high concrete slab. When Guru Hargobind revealed the platform on 15 June 1606, he put on two swords: one indicated his spiritual authority (piri) and the other, his temporal authority (miri).
The Akal Takht was built on a site where there existed only a high mound of earth across a wide-open space. It was a place where Guru Hargobind played as a child. The original Takht was a simple platform, 3.5 metres (10ft) high, on which Guru Hargobind would sit in court to receive petitions and administer justice. He was surrounded by insignia of royalty such as the parasol and the flywhisk. Later, there was an open-air semi-circular structure built on marble pillars and a gilded interior section. There were also painted wall panels depicting Europeans.
The modern building is a five-story structure with marble inlay and a gold-leafed dome. Three of the stories were added by Ranjit Singh in the 1700s.

The medicinal properties of the water are said to have come Word of God (Gurbani believed as sacred texts by Sikhs). Rajni's leper husband was cured in the pool. Sakhi relates that if one keeps faith in Almighty then one day all rewards are paid. Bibi Rajni had always kept the faith in Guru and God, being happy with whatever she had and thus was rewarded at the end.

Mixed feelings about the place. The history is sad, but the place has been done up nicely as a memorial. However, it has become a tourist place and feel that we do not deserve the freedom and sacrifice. Unruly and noisy crowd that is interested only clicking pictures and does not go with the spirit of the memorial.

This Dukh beri is among the three historical beris in the Golden Temple complex. The other two are ‘Ber Baba Budha Sahib’ and Lachi Ber.’ ‘Dukh Bhanjani Beri,’ on the bank of the holy sarovar on Langar hall side, is here since the forth Sikh guru, Sri Guru Ram Das, founded Amritsar city and the holy sarovar in the 16th Century, and is over 400 years old.

DUKH BHANJNI SAHIB
It is that holy place wherein after having a holy dip Bibi Rajni's crippled husband with the Guru's kind grace got relieved from the ailment.
It so happened that the haughty Chief of Patti Duni Chand enquired from his daughters, in a fit of pride, who nurtured them. All others accordingly Dúni Chand's desire said that they ate what he provided them, but Bibi Rajni who because of having been brought up at her maternal home at Lahore a family devoted to the Guru was known to the great secret of Gurmat and she said clearly that the nourisher of all is only God and all eat whatever God provides them.
Listening to such an answer, the haughty father in a fit of anger arranged Bibi Rajni's marriage with a crippled man. The lady took it as the Almighty's will and she after having gone throug many villages while setting her crippled husband in a basket and carrying the same basket on her head reached this place. (Samvat 1637, year 1580) When placing the basket in the shade of this Beri the lady went to village Tung to take food etc. In her absence the crippled husband saw a wonderful sight that the black crows were coming and after having a dip into the holy tank they were flying away being swans Witnessing this after having gathered courage he too with the support of the roots of the Beri dipped into the holy tank. With the Guru's kind grace his body grew free from the ailment. When the lady returned and she in the place of her crippled husband beheld a handsome youngman she developed a doubt that perhaps this youngman had killed her I crippled husband.
When this issue reached to Sri Guru Ram Dass Ji involved in the selfless service of the construction work of the Santokh-Sar he removing the good lady's doubl stated, "Eh Bibi, it is your selfless service, reliance and determination and the power of this holy place by the dint of which your crippled husband has grown healthy." The Guru himself named this holy place "Dukh Bhanjni Sahib".

Akal Takht serves as one of the five seats of Sikh religious authority. Akal which means the ‘Timeless One’ while Takht means ‘the throne’. Translated, Akal Takht means the ‘Throne of the Immortal’. It is also the central altar for the Sikh political assembly. Shri Guru Hargobind Singh laid the foundation stone of the Akal Takht building in 1605.
The building faces the Darshini Deorhi, which leads to the Golden Temple. Originally the Akal Takht was just 3.5 metres higher from the ground. Today, it’s a 5 storey building with gold leafed dome.

I hv been to three Gurudwara so far Namely Golden temple in Amritsar, Takht Shri saheb in Patna and Shree Bangla Sahab in Delhi. I must say that all three visits created so much of respect for Sikhs. The amazing peacefulness, devotion and true spirit to serve in the of God just touched my heart. No hassles, no haggling, no politics, every person gets a fair chance to spent time ther. Golden temple was the first of the gurudwaras and I would want to visit there again and again.

This is a very Good Gurdwara and a very good historical place especially for the people belongs to Sikhism.

Akal Takhat Sahib means Eternal Throne. It is also part of the Golden Temple complex in Amritsar.
It stood as a symbol of political bulwark against the MughalEmperors in the 17th and 18th century. Various attacks on the Akal Takhat and Harimandir Sahib have been led in past by Ahmed Shah Abdali and Massa Rangar in the 18 century. On June 4, 1984, the Indian Army did more than just damage the outer facade of the Akal Takhat, they destroyed the sancitity of the Akal Takht with tanks and reduced it to rubble, while attempting to take out Sikh militants in a controversial military operation known as Operation Bluestar.
It is the most supreme of all the Takhats. There are four other takhatsestablished by the panth (community) during the last century:
Keshgarh Sahib (Anandpur)
Patna Sahib
Hazur Sahib
Damdama Sahib
Often, Amritsar is considered a takht.
The Jathedar of the Akal Takhat is the highest spokesperson of the Sikh Panth and is meant to be a spiritual leader without control or influence from any outside, politically motivated sources. The present jathedar is Bhai Joginder Singh Vedanti.

Very holy place to visit. Disable friendly, free book were served.

This place was so clean and discipline. All the common people were busy in doing different types of works. Some were cleaning the floors and some were serving food in langars. I had felt a real feeling of devotion. We went there twice, but i wont mind to go there again. I would love, if you all too visit this holy place. ~thank you.
