Our six year old went on a field trip here and insisted on coming back for her birthday. We went as a family and enjoyed going on two tours with Jose. He made history come alive by teaching us about the families and the land.

If you're interested in architecture, craftsmanship or art there are also a lot of beautiful details and pieces throughout the property.

We genuinely had fun and learned a lot. I also recommend visiting the turtles and fish by the cemetery. 🐢

Loved coming here to learn about local history; I had no idea this place existed even though I've lived in the area for so long! The grounds are stunning and well-maintained. I wasn't able to go on a tour because I went on a day when they were holding an event and had the houses open just for self-guided exploration, but the docents seem very knowledgeable and I will be looking forward to taking a tour in the future. I also love that there's a pond here with koi, turtles, and a goose!

Such a beautiful historical experience. The tours here are very informative and interesting. If you go on the right time they'll show you parts of the historical houses not seen in the regular tours.

This free, guided tour is a must, if you live in the area or visiting the area. The names of some of our surrounding cities and street names originated from here. The hacienda is incredible. We all want to move in. Don't forget to visit the family cemetery after your tour. It's at the other end.

I love this place! I came in elementary school, back again in my 20s and today now in my 30s with my kids. The tour guides are so knowledgeable and nice. I'm so greatful to the City of Industry for this museum. Especially since its free. Such beautiful history. You can tell the people who work here really care about preserving the history and bringing it to life❤📚 definitely a place you need to visit!

Beautiful building and room and appliances from 100 years ago. Amazing to see how they made millions and then lost it twice which says wealth can only last with renewal talent and resources like Marriott

What a little gem in the area learning about local history and the Workman-Temple family. The kids had fun and learned a few.

We were not sure if we'd stay and wait an hour for a tour at first. But Michele from the front office was super nice and my kid immediately liked her and wanted to stay. She was very patient and helpful through out our stay. We hope to see her again if we return.

Docent Phil has been volunteering there for over 20years. He is friendly, knowledgeable and sweet with the kids.

What a gem!!!! So peaceful and lovely here. The buildings are so cared for. The docents are so knowledgeable. Not many know about this place. Support history, not destroy it.

This place is such an underrated gem. There are two houses with their own tours given at staggered hours. We went on both tours and it is well worth it. If you grew up in in the SGV, you'll recognize so many familiar names that now adorn streets, schools, and other municipal buildings. It was really great to see history come alive and to learn about the people who made a huge impact on the region but that I only knew very casually.

The Workman and Temple Family Homestead Museum is part of LA's "Passport 2 History" program! If you don't know what that is, please look it up as there are over 80 participating museums, that give you stickers when you go there and there are actually prizes the more you go to. It's a fun way to learn about museums.

The museums in the P2H program range in their grandiosity, from very small adobes to full scale art museums. I was expecting the former, but we go much closer to the latter! They're not fooling around here, and they're constantly growing and renovating. They had quite an impressive visitor's center where you wait for the tour (complete with free coffee - a part of the history lesson of the community's prohibition ties). If you get there early, you can enjoy the koi pond (with an impressive soft shell turtle among the large fish and other turtles) and graveyard.

There are two tours - The Workman House and the second house next door (that's name escapes me at the moment). We only had time for the first tour (each is 45 minutes and we had a 5 year old with us), but it was very cool and informative. The exhibits are kind of bare in comparison to other homestead museums, where there are more artifacts from the home - but I think there is much more of that in the second home that we missed. AND there is a behind the scenes tour where they take you in the basement and second floor! The best part... ALL of these tours are FREE!!! That's right! They even have a cute little gift shop that actually has interesting relevant items and toys that are reasonably priced! So we got some old time candy sticks and a slide whistle because... why not?!?

I know this may be out of the way for many... but make a day trip out of it! We visited here, The Puente Hills Mall (The Twin Pines Mall from Back To The Future!!! - Be sure to go inside and check out the Twin Pines Mall sign inside the mall!), The Hsi Lai Temple (SUPER cool place that is very welcoming to visitors), a tamale shaped building, the Armenian Martyrs Memorial and more!
