The view from Mirador de las Narices del Teide is nothing short of spectacular. Positioned on the slopes of Teide, Spain's highest peak, this vantage point offers sweeping panoramas of the Canary Islands. On clear days, you can see the islands of La Gomera and La Palma in the distance, their outlines etched against the horizon. The view of Tenerife itself, with its rugged volcanic landscape and pine forest, is equally impressive. The combination of natural beauty, geological formations, and expansive ocean vistas makes this viewpoint a must-visit for anyone exploring the Canary Islands.
The parking is small but usually not busy.
Free to visit. Came with Night Skies Tenerife, brought us up here. Absolutely awesome, about the clouds (most of the time) great to watch the sunset and has a great view of Teide
Decided to do a hike on Pico de Viejo because we did not have a permit for Teide, so we thought it was a good alternative.
We started our hike to Pico de Viejo at Mirador del Niece del Teide. We started the hike on route 9 (Sendero 9) which is on the left of the Mirador - very easy to find. We took ~3 hours to the top - the path is easy to follow as it is very well marked.
For the descent we took path 28. Even if the sign indicated only 4 km, it was definetely close to 10km until we reached the runway. In addition, we took 3 more km to the parking at Mirador del Niece del Teide. The descent on path 28 was very difficult due to the ashes we had to walk thru.
We read that some people start on path 28, we don't recommend it as it is very steep and longer than 9.
Recommendations:
-take path 9 back and forth
-min 3 L of water
- hat, sunscreen
- start early, even in the summer, the hike takes fairly long
Duration: approx. 9 hours with lunch break and hundreds of photos :)
The views are amazing and every step is worth! If you want to reach the top, go for it! :)

Lovely friendly seafood restaurant. I sat by the water after watching Real Madrid reach the Champions league and relaxed till late. Prawns and Tuna plus Tiramisu with a chilled wine. Nice time.
Mirador Narices del Teide (the nostrils of Teide) is the highest point accessible by road from the western coast of Tenerife to the Cañadas plateau. It lies amidst a landscape of cold lava flows at the foot of Pico Viejo, which last erupted in 1798. This remarkable viewpoint offers breathtaking vistas and a unique perspective on the volcanic terrain.

The trail leading to the Mirador de las Narices del Teide takes you through the lava flows ejected by Mount Teide during its last eruption in the Middle Ages. Along the way, you’ll encounter the spectacular 800-meter-wide crater of Pico Viejo and the volcanic vents of Las Narices del Teide, remnants of the 1798 eruption within the Teide National Park. The landscape transitions from volcanic areas to rocky terrain, and as you ascend, you’ll be treated to spectacular views.

If you’re a hiking enthusiast, this trail is a must-visit. It’s generally considered moderately challenging, covering approximately 10.3 kilometers in a circular route near Guía de Isora, Tenerife. The estimated completion time is around 3 hours and 14 minutes. While exploring, you’re unlikely to encounter many other people, making it a serene and rewarding experience. The trail remains open year-round, and its beauty can be appreciated at any time.

So, lace up your hiking boots and embark on this adventure to witness the rugged beauty of the Narices del Teide viewpoint! 🌋🏞️

Nice view from the top, but the beach was pretty dirty compared to others and there was a lot of canalisation going in from the city.

Nice view
Definitely recommend leaving the beach and booking an excursion for a day or two and exploring the national park. The volcano was cool, the lava fields where cool, the nature amazing. Nice guys, new equipment and very knowledgeable.
We did night skies tour. Oh my god how wonderful sunset was stunning equipment was properly used. Informative and just all around stunning!
We followed trail 9 which is well signposted. The paths are very visible for the most part however, they do disappear in places so keep a keen eye out. The hike itself isn't too bad at all. Some deep sandy areas to get through which make it a little tedious. The main struggle is water. It's hard to carry enough and there are obviously no water sources so, take as much as you can carry. Worth every bit of effort with spectacular views.
Natural rockpool deep enough to swim except at low tide. Breakers coming in on one side, beautiful clear water, steps in at both ends. A beautiful place.

Nice but not the best natural swimming pool out there. Very nice vibe and family friendly area.
Quite a remarkable place .... It's size and scale and the atmosphere is amazing. The drive up here did get a little hairy, with some right roads, but once you are in the national park it is fabulous scenery. I would recommend taking a trip and not driving yourself, for those two reasons ... Let someone else, who knows the roads drive, and free you up to view the spectacular scenery! Our younger daughter was also captivated by the fact that it is still active. And it was really interesting to know more and the visitors centre really helps here. The cafe is ok, if a little soulless, but if you sit on the terrace, you have all the atmosphere you need! Well worth the trip!

Such a lovely view!
It's such a great invention! It's safe to swim, water is warmer, fun to wait for big wave crashing over the edge of the pool. And it's very beautiful!
A gorgeous natural seawater "pool". It's perfect for swimming and snorkeling; there are lots of anemones, fish and crabs. It's pretty shallow and slippery near the larger staircase near the showers, if you walk towards the ocean (facing Los Gigantes) there's a metal ladder that will take you to the deeper part and you won't have to scrape your shins (you're welcome). You can access this pool from the ocean front foot path that runs between La Arena and Alcala. You can park along street and walk to the trail, we parked on TF-47 where there were other cars and walked on a dirt construction driveway to the path.
If we don't consider the weather, we really enjoyed this area of the island as it offers different choices, from sandy little beaches, to rocks to the very nice natural pools! The area is right in front of a big resort but everybody is welcome (it's not private). You can find also some facilities, like a cafe and snack bar, beach chairs and umbrella.
Really cool to see the natural swimming pool. It looks like they helped a bit with it though. But the water is nice and warm. Also it is easy to get in and climb out.
