This was Rodin's home in the Meudon "country side".

Nice quiet park with a good view.
There is a small cafe at the end of the park.

I just love the Observatory Terrace. It's so beautiful there. And now in summer it's open until 10 p.m., so you have a chance to look at Paris in the evening.
Petit Musée, mais très beau !!!
Jardins Merveilleux !!! Un Havre de paix.
A découvrir !!!
This was Rodin's home in the Meudon "country side". Now a small and largely unknown museum housing his plaster models along with some of his best known sculptures set in the garden.
Nice small venue with some plaster casts including « the gates of hell ». Surrounding area to sit. Free entry.

So underrated and interesting. Has history of the construction that you don’t get to delve into at other museums.

A wonderful location full of art in a desastrous condition. This place needs a thorough remake. The soaking wet walls will not only harm the plaster objects. A shame for the Meuton village as well as Paris and the foundation in charge.

Magnifique arbre empli d'histoire
The Cedre Imperial Meudon is a 200+ years old tree
located in the Hauts de Seine, 6.6 km from the Eiffel Tower.
The tree is surrounded by legends and fairytales.

It might have been planted around 1800
by Empress Josephine
that had a passion for cedars.
The legends around the tree started
with Empress Eugenie
who knew the cedar from
the General Jacqueminot that lived nearby.

The tree is said to give good energy
to those that take some time to look at it.

This was the case for Aimée de Heeren,
a WW2 Secret Service agent and early resistant.
Aimée De Heeren at the time called
Aimée Sotto Major or Aimée Lopes
had come to France in 1938 to find information.

Daughter of a poor school teacher
Aimée lived under the cover of
a "wealthy fashionista"
at the Hotel Plaza Athenée.
Having the impact of a bombshell
she was invited to every party
thus getting access to secret information

She knew the Cedre Imperial through
Dmitri Romanov
and through the fashion designer Gabrielle Chanel.

Late 1938 Aimee was transmitted
secret documents
about Germany"s plans for the Jewish population.

The Cedre Imperial gave her the force
in the complicated mission to influence her employer,
the pro German minded President Vargas of Brazil,
not to join the Axis coalition.

1939 February she showed the Cedre Imperial
to Joe Kennedy Jr,
son of the US Ambassador in London.
They fell in love and Kennedy became her ally
in the difficult task to influence
President Roosevelt of America
to take action against Germany.
Roosevelt wanted to stay out of the war.
Without Aimees lobbying efforts
the US might have taken more time
to prepare for the war.

Joe Kennedy Jr died in the efforts
to liberate France but Aimée de Heeren
lived for a long time,
transmitting
the legends of the Cedre Imperial
to some of her friends,
among them the editor of this post
who met her as a young student
half a century later.

2021 January the Cedre Imperial Meudon
was programmed
to be cut to give place for a real estate project.
Hundreds of children
mainly from France and Israel
made paintings to save the tree.
They published the paintings on instagram
#cedreimperialmeudon

The artist Stephanie von Fuerstenberg
created a jewellery collection in the honor
of the tree.

A picture of Cedre Imperial Meudon
moved right to the homepage
of the Phone Book of the World
giving the tree international visibility.

The major of the city Denis Larghero
interfered to protect the
oldest living "citizen" of his town.

Today the Cedre Imperial would
need some surrounding pavements
to be removed
as not enough rain water can come to its roots.
Cedar Trees can turn a thousand years old
if they receive enough water
and if humans don't harm them.

Once located in the magical garden
of la "Villa les Cedres"
Coco Chanel wanted to buy the property in 1966
to create a Chanel Museum
but unfortunately Aimée de Heeren
was not around to encourage her.

Instead half of the garden disappeared
with a real estate promoter,
the other half was bought by the city of Meudon
who is the present owner.

Maybe one day what is left of the old garden
will be renovated,
as there not so many trees
like the Cedre Imperial Meudon.

Great place to visit. Beautiful sculptures. The children loved the garden. We were there on a Sunday afternoon and the entrance was free. Is not so big but a lovely place to spend a sunny afternoon :)
Really nice museum with authentic feel. You can walk around it within 30 min, but can spend an hour looking at the exhibits and reading the stories from Rodin's life. And it is free! Great place to spend an afternoon!
This park (former Royal Château where the Heir passed away in June 1789) is both impressive and a bit neglected. The former gates, wall and L'Orangerie of the castle still remain ... the bulk of the new Château makes up the Paris Observatory. The view of Paris is amazing from this elevated spot, the park still slightly hints at what once was. Interestingly, it was here (virtually alone)where I saw the first functioning fountain while in France - in August in a deserted park. I laughed cause previously visiting Versailles (with thousands of tourists), not a single fountain was functioning.
Great calm and cosy place with nice Rodin exhibition - recommended for all art lovers!
Such a tranquil and peaceful place. This garden overlooks Paris and gives a bird's eye view of the valley. You can see Montmartre, Sacre-couer, and the Eiffel Tower. Beautiful point for sunset watching. I can't recommend it enough. It's a must visit.
