We were helped by the most brilliant guide who was courteous and kind. I’m sure he took us to members of his family (!) but the scarf stall and apothecary were so interesting and no one pressured us at all.

AVOID IT!!!! we were dragged this afternoon there, buying a guy claiming be a Berber... he wants to show us a unique market where they dye the textile as it was the last day of the market... we didn't want to go, but he started being so persistent telling us it was for free... we just went to be polite. We ended up in a shop with lots of scarves (picture of the shop attached) as I didn't want to buy anything. The guy started pushing me and became really aggressive... please avoid. I was really scared the other guide dude was waiting for me outside the shop, requesting me 200dh for nothing, which we gave him 20 to **** off. Just don't even talk to or engage with these scammer guides either

Be extremely careful with some of the stalls and don't engage. They are extremely pushy and keep trying to get you to say a price. When you try to walk away they can get extremely aggressive so unless you are actually interested best avoid. Also there are guys that will try to convince you to go here and demand money for "guiding" you. If someone trys to bring you somewhere in Marrakesh just tell them NO and walk away, don't even talk to them. They will do it even if you know where you are going and are extremely persistent so just don't even engage or talk to them.

Fantastic hiking trip across the high atlas and anti atlas. We had a team of guide, cook and two mulitiers for our 10 day hiking trip. Our guide Rachid was very friendly and very knowledge about the mountains. Having a cook (Muhammad) as part of the team meant that every meal was freshly prepared and delicious. He was also the most upbeat member of the team, always bringing some energy to the group and showing us how to make their traditional bread in the mountains. The mulitiers were always very helpful in transporting equipment and setting up tents. We could not be happier with our experience.

Terrible experience with this gallery for international service and shipping. Unprofessional shipping and handling of original paintings, sending damaged paintings to unassuming customers abroad and refusing to cover the cost. Not a gallery to be trusted.

I purchased a painting from this gallery from Berlin, Germany. I transferred the full amount for an original painting by Bulent Kilic to the gallery's account prior to shipment.

Upon receiving the painting however, we were shocked to see that they had rolled an original oil painting from the outside in, instead of inside out and once unrolled, the painting had clearly been folded in the middle and severely cracked and damaged as a result.

Upon contacting the gallery owner, Driss Bennani, we received 4 different versions of reality in the span of several days:

Version 1: that he had originally received the painting in even worse conditions from the painter himself and he'd be happy to issue a full refund of our money as he wants the painting for himself anyway.

Version 2: He then proceeded to tell us that the cracks are in fact completely normal and once stretched on a canvas, it would disappear. Once we challenged this claim of his by providing professional framer feedback that this is a damaged painting and that it would not be fixed by "stretching", he changed his story yet again,

Version 3: He told us that the painting must have been damaged during the transport by DHL. However, professional assessment of the painting by professional restoration experts in Berlin was that the painting was clearly folded prior to shipment and the shipping tube had no damages. Restoration experts further noted that the painting had been "poorly restored" prior to shipment as someone had tried to "cover" pre existing cracks in the painting with very visible black paint.

Version 4: Upon seeing the professional feedback, Driss then proceeded to admit that "something must have gone wrong prior to shipment that he hadn't noticed" - he delivered this message to us through a third party artist who lives in Germany.

All of the above was communicated in a very rude, unstructured and unprofessional manner, blaming and undermining the customer who clearly has paid for damaged goods for which he refused to take any responsibility.

Based on the above we offered the gallery the following two options:

- Either issue a full refund for the painting and return the painting, or
- Pay for the cost of restoring the painting in Germany

Both of which the gallery refused. Their only solution? To send the painting back to Morocco for them to restore it.

Given the above history, and the clear lack of professional ability to handle paintings in the right manner (as they clearly neither know how to roll an oil painting nor restore it), we have refused to send the painting back to avoid having them keep both our painting and our money.

We are going to be taking legal actions and have attached proof of the damaged painting.

If you're interested in buying a painting from this gallery, think twice especially when it comes to international transactions.

Wir hatten eine furchtbare Erfahrung mit der BCK Gallery und können nur dringend warnen mit der Gallerie zusammen zu arbeiten: Wir haben im Mai 2023 ein Originalgemälde (Öl) gekauft und mussten das Geld vorab überweisen. Nachdem wir das Ölbild erhielten und öffneten, wurden wir mit massiven Beschädigungen konfrontiert: Das Ölbild wurde mehrfach gefalten (!) und - wie von einer professionellen Restauratorin für Ölbilder bestätigt - "erbärmlich restauriert und übermalt". Leider ist dadurch an mehreren Stellen Farbe abgeplatzt, sodass es nun erneut restauriert werden muss. Wir erhielten somit kein (!) Originalbild des Künstlers, sondern ein beschädigtes und ein minderwertig übermaltes Ölbild und mussten dennoch den vollen Preis zahlen. Leider verhielten sich mehrere Personen der BCK Gallery (insbesondere Driss Bennani) hochgradig unprofessionell und übernahmen keine Verantwortung für das beschädigte Bild und baten auch keine fairen Lösungsvorschläge an. Abgesehen davon, gaben sie uns innerhalb weniger Tage 4 (!) verschiedene Versionen was angeblich passiert sei. Letztlich verweigern sie sogar die Restaurationskosten in Deutschland zu übernehmen und/oder unseren Kaufpreis zurück zu erstatten. Daher werden wir nun rechtliche Schritte einleiten. Die beigefügten Bilder sind ein eindeutiger Beweis für den Betrug, den wir durch BCK erfahren mussten!

P.S. Driss Bennani hat sich in Google selbst 5 Sterne vergeben und damit die Google-Bewertung künstlich positiv beeinflusst - ein klarer Interessenkonflikt!

Beautiful gallery housing contemporary art exhibitions.

The trip was absolutely amazing. Even though the trip took longer than expected (because of the group), the guide showed a lot of patience and love. Every stop we thought it’s impossible for the trip to get better, but yet it did. The lunch was super tasty and the place - amazing! The trip has a perfect balance of time in a car and time in outside. Be prepared for a hike - the road to the waterfall might be challenging for some. Overall I think it’s the best way in which you can get a taste of Morroco in one day:) Super recommended!!!

A really beautiful gallery with a range of art. Well worth a visit

Popped in the casino for our last night in Marrakech and it was an unexpectedly great value night out.
Went in for dinner as the menu looked great online. Surprisingly, the restaurant manager suggested that we become casino members which would then allow us free drinks and food 🙂.
Proviso was that we had to gamble, however that was always the plan so win win all round. You need to play first before getting the free food, but free drinks (any alcoholic/non-alcoholic) come in handy.

Had an excellent time viewing the stunning landscape of the atlas mountains and learning about the traditions and culture of the Berber people. Guide Yousef was fantastic and was able to get our group up to a waterfall. He was extremely informative.
Would recommend to anyone who wants to visit the atlas mountains, see the picturesque views, as well as a camel ride to finish off the day.

But its so full with cigarate smoke, your eyes burn. they won't even serve you water. You have to pay for everything a glass of beer costs 8 dollars.
We would have bet for way longer if the place would have less smoke or give you a glass of water.

Love the staff. Great pedagogy. And most importantly my kids enjoy the workshop. They have a much better appreciation for art.

TOP TIP: Try walking there, from the medina it’s a lovely and easy route which passes the park.

Gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous... a must see gallery located in an Art Deco building in central Gueliz, a 8minute taxi or a leisurely 20min walk.

Check online to find out whether they have any special events on before you go. They have some fantastic things happening.

I played the poker tournament, it’s not fun really since most players are local friends and they gang up on you. I reached the final table and they discussed a deal between them without letting me know, as well I discovered that one of the players is working in the casino!

Just be careful while shopping madina is a place of bargain. Always remember being a tourist you have every right to reject and bargain. People just grab you and try to take you in control you have to stop them and make it clear you are in control not them.

If you can bargain well you can get great stuff at a cheap cost. Never accept a vendor's first offer. Always go down. They will almost always meet you for a better deal

You can get practically anything here! But be prepared to negotiate prices and deal with persistent salespeople. Also, watch out for scooters passing through the halls.

Great free gallery. Better than the paid ones around by a long shot. Hopefully they have an exhibition up next door you can check out as well.

It's a very nice contemporary gallery, and it was good to see that there was a strong representation of Moroccan artists. Many of the local galleries show pieces from French artists living in Morocco.

Reasonable prices, and lots of beautiful pieces. There is a substantial collection that's not shown, so you can ask and see whether there is something suitable not on display.

Small but packed with everything I wanted to take home with me.

Really beautiful Casino, unfortunately everyone can give you cancer from all the smoking. Although they give you free water, the dealers don't wash their hands and give me worst hands I've ever seen. Not recommending.

amazing trip

it's fascinating to see the work of the wool painters. the whole market has a lot of craftsman who allow you to watch. however, beware as they will normally expect you to buy something and the price will be much higher then for someone who just passed by. also there are a lot of pickpockets and "guides" who will volunteer to help - they're not doing it out of the kindness of their hearts but so that you'd give them a couple hundred dirhams, and also they'll take you to the shops of their friends and family where you'd pay 3 or 4 times what you'd pay for anything in any other shop.
