Great little informative museum for such a small yet environmentally diverse place.

Nice little museum, $5. Say about 30 minutes to go through, right across from ferry terminal if you want to fill some time before boarding.

Ontario Nature is doing a great job managing this property. Excited to see what they do with it in the future. If you're a naturalist, there is always something to see here.

We took the Grains and Grapes tour and learned so much about Pelee Island. Historical site is amazing and the guides were excellent!! Shared an incredible amount of history and information about the island and the historical significance of Vin Villa

Very interesting to see the island history and something about the more famous personalities

Historical site that's owned by a corporation that seems to have a monopoly on the island. No one and nothing tells you reservations are needed.
You can't just visit the grounds. The tours have limited spaces and times.... which seems to make no sense considering people rely on ferries and can't really have a set out schedule. There are so many better ways this could be managed.
Finally, I've NEVER seen a museum/historical site charge $47 per person AND impose a 15% gratuity!!!!!!!!

This tour was worth everything, probably the best thing at Peele Island. We were fortunate enough to have a private tour as the other group cancelled at the last moment. 'Chase' our tour guide was so amazing and did a fantastic job in explaining us about each and everything about the place. He was super sweet and put all his heart in his work giving us the best experience of Vin Villa ever even though it was pouring throughout. Kudos to the guy and its worth your money. The place was magical indeed. Must visit!

Reasonable tour of the ruins of Canada's first winery. Not much to see of the winery itself since most of it is gone. The dining room in the wine cellar was spectacular. They don't show you around the grounds but they look amazing. Don't expect a wine tasting since the winery is no longer functional. They give you a tiny taste of a red and a white that have been recreated at another winery based upon historic recipes/grapes.

They call this a wine tour but the tour guides don't know anything about wine and they only gave us one 1oz tasting of "red or white?". From a wine tasting perspective it was a terrible experience that was very overpriced. The tour was an hour long and we got to go through the oldest winery in North America which was very cool, however the tour guides focused on all of the new renovations that happened after the fire occured. People come to Vin Villa to learn about the oldest winery in North America! They should have talked more about how they made the wine, how it was stored, and more historical facts rather then focusing on the renovations that took place and which decorations were store bought. We walked through the burned down building and saw the old cellar that they renovated to be some event hall. It seems Vin Villa is just focused on events at this point now to make money for the insane cost of the renovations. This tour is very overpriced for what it is at the time of me writing this review.

What a fun place to see!! Short walk from where we had to park the bikes but was enjoyable to see!

It's a good half a kilometre walk from the designated parking area so be prepared for a good walk through some dense marshlands under a broadwalk

can't enter...its locked up
be careful, the horese/black Flys are awful

Such a unique and exceptional experience! Highly recommend! You won't want to miss this when visiting Pelee Island.
Big thanks to the tour guide who has high passion about the heritage and is very knowledgeable! He made the stories very vivid.

Fascinating historical tour. We have been coming to Pelee Island for years and never even knew about this historic winery. Beautiful ruins and cellar, and very informative, friendly tour guides. Would highly recommend!

I visited Pelee Island after season and basically the entire beach was just for me. I was at the lighthouse more than an hour all by myself, which was great since I had the time to take pictures without rush.
If you are near Detroit area o Windsor, ON., this is a great plan for the weekend. The trip on the ferry was awesome and the views... just wow.
Visit the Lighthouse and parking is free, but getting to the island is around 40 usd with your car included.

Great museum inside with Pelee Island history

About a 10 minutes walk from the parking lot to the lighthouse. There is a nice beach to walk along before you get to the lighthouse. It's locked so you can't go inside.

Beautiful walk to the lighthouse !! A short board walk and path through the marsh… so much lush green and wildlife! And amazing view of the lighthouse once you reach the beach! Went twice… at sunset and again the next day!

Not much of the souvenir collection. Good tourist info booth.
Accessible, parking is on the side alley

It's amazing to think that I've lived in Windsor-Essex my whole life and yet had never heard of this place. I don't want to spoil the story for anyone, but whether you're a history buff, a wine connoisseur or just enjoy local charm, then you MUST take this tour. Best time spent on the island to date!

Visit the stone beaches east of Stone Road

If you're afraid of snakes, walk along the beach to get to the lighthouse from the parking lot. The trail has many snakes and turtles to see, which is great if you like wildlife. Saw a few people scream and run back along the trail, which just disturbs the wildlife.

Beautiful, small park with a short boardwalk / trail to the beach through wetlands. The beach is a mix of pebble and sand, bordered by gorgeous mature deciduous trees and thick undergrowth to the west and lake Erie to the east. At the end of the beach (about 800 meters from the trailhead) is the lighthouse. We were delighted to see five (5!) large snakes in the bushes near the lighthouse, only one of which seemed at all disturbed by our presence. This would be a nice beach to linger on for a while (but note that there are no facilities nearby).

So this is for Pelee in general... We came over with bikes only. It's a nice place, but not a lot to do here other than bike or Sun. The winery was not open when we came. There are few gift shops, a restaurant and a few fast food counters. Beaches on the east side are nice. No services campground had nice first come first serve lots and they are in trees and on grass - quite nice. There is a store on the campground, but it wasn't open when we first visited. The bike trails are just rough gravel and grass, through bush they aren't too bad. This trail was on the east side, paralleling East Beach Road. This trail was not a stone-dust surface like most. For biking, you can find a paved route, but you might end up on gravel. Gravel roads are fairly rough, especially for race bikes. We'll likely return for a weekend of camping and biking.

A step back in time

Lovely lady was attending on Tuesday. She provided us with lots of information about the island. Things we didn't know although we've been visiting for 20 years.

Seems like a very useful place for island visitors but, unfortunately, the rudest, unhelpful woman sitting at the desk. Yikes! Definitely will find our local information elsewhere next time. Bad experience.
