I took my kids for the 4th of July parade. Unfortunately we were late so we missed most of the parade. However the parts we did see were sooooo cute! Afterwards there are so many family friendly cool stores to look around in, buy souvenirs, candy, coffee, food, art, history. It’s a gorgeous town ❤️

Amazing open safe place for kids to explore. Lots of activity and dog walking. Very fun.
The streets are laid out very narrow with the late 1800's in mind. Most parking is curbside with a few other public parking facilities. With that said there is a lot to see and do in the downtown area just be prepared for a walk and have a good time.

Came for a morning walk and it was wonderful. Beautiful mountains and several paths to choose from. The one we chose had random workout stations which was creative and fun. Kid and dog friendly too. Super easy flat trail.

My favorite place to hike. It’s very peaceful and easy for beginner hikers. There is plenty of parking and restrooms at the front of the entrance. I always recommend this place to everyone I know and make monthly trips from Phoenix just for Buffalo Park! Also a great place to get beautiful pictures during sunset.

Beautiful place, especially around winter. First time actually being in snow, got to see it all. Amazing scenery, good places to eat and treat yourself. Stopped at a ramen restaurant called Karma and this one place that offers desserts named Sweet Shoppe. Both, although very few items, offer vegan options. Also, stopped in Crystal Magic that had amazing pieces. I recommend stopping by and checking out. Only thing I had trouble was finding a place to park. Can't wait to go back and explore more.
The rangers at the historic mansion were wonderful and very, very knowledgeable. We loved the tour and loved the tour guide gentleman as he told us all kinds of interesting tidbits about the mansion and answered all of our queries. The fact that it was snowing that morning was just icing on the cake.
Bigger than what you see from the outside. Have lots of pottery, history to read about, geology, etc.

Definitely worth a visit to if you are in Flagstaff. It is a very interesting place and I learned the observatory played a key role in discovering the former planet (now dwarf planet) Pluto. The Clark telescope is here and there are many other cool exhibits to check out here.
So much great info. Wonderful displays!
A fun morning!

A visit to Lowell Observatory is truly an exploration of both the cosmos and the unique earthly environment it resides in. Situated at a high elevation, the observatory offers a breathtaking view of the celestial wonders above. The clear night skies at this altitude provide an unparalleled canvas for stargazing, making it a haven for astronomy enthusiasts and curious visitors alike. The observatory's commitment to public outreach and education is evident through its engaging programs and knowledgeable staff, who passionately share the mysteries of the universe with visitors.

However, it's essential for prospective stargazers to be mindful of the practicalities of the location. The high elevation brings cooler temperatures, even on clear nights, and the weather can be quite cold. Therefore, I highly recommend packing warm layers of clothing to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience. Despite the chilly weather, Lowell Observatory's cosmic wonders and educational initiatives make it an exploration worth embracing, offering a unique blend of celestial marvels and earthly elements.
Tastefully done, beautiful little museum that covers everything from geographic history to Native American culture. Despite looking small on the outside there are so many exhibit rooms on the inside so plan for at least 3 hours to properly enjoy the space.
Beautiful! Love the place. Great place to bring your kids. They had telescopes to see at night and we got the chance to view Jupiter and Saturn.
Wonderful hidden gem. Provides a great history of the area both culturally and geographically. It seems like a smaller museum but if you took the time to absorb even 10% of it, it would take at least a full day. Very interesting to learn about the native tribes, their history, and evolution of tools and housing. While a lot of the museum won’t appeal to younger children, there were sufficient children-oriented activities and exhibits to keep mine 4 and 7, occupied for 3 hours. Hoping I can come back with just my wife one of these days to spend more time taking it all in with my wife.

We had an amazing experience. Even though the temperature was in 20s and it was freezing outside, there was so much enthusiasm in the staff to answer our questions. Pluto was discovered in one of the rooms. Clark telescope is here. We look at Moon, Jupiter and Saturn through the telescopes and got a picture of the moon via the telescope.

I can spend hours upon hours at this place. There is so much to see and learn about. The tours are very informative and not too lengthy. The staff is very friendly and knowledgeable. I recommend going when they first open to do the tours, then grab an early dinner to make it back for the evening Telescope viewing of the stars and planets. Your admission sticker is good all day, so you are able to leave the premises and then come back.

Love this dog friendly park. The views are fantastic and it’s a nice easy walk as long or as short as you’d like. If you’re ever in Flagstaff I would suggest trying this one with the family.

We really like the location, the science, the telescopes, and the story of discovering Pluto.

We went in the afternoon and came back ( tickets good for entire day) to star gaze. They had several telescopes aimed at various objects.

The Clark scope was on Saturn our night

And one can see the Milky Way
We had this loosely in our plans, but after walking the Calvary Cemetery has to go learn more. We loved the tour, both the self guided and the guided. The State Parks has done a great job restoring and maintaining the property and it was fun to learn about Flagstaff's early history.
Another beautiful hiking spot for beginners like myself. Very flat loops. Beautiful views. Just check ahead for events like marathons if you value alone time.

Neat place if you are into astronomy. They have lots of telescopes. So at night is especially cool. Saw the moon close up, Saturn, Neptune & Jupiter. Also, from the top of the hill you get a great view of the city of Flagstaff below.
Very cool for you space nerds out there. Will try to make it back during the night to actually observe.

Enjoyed small presentation about solar eclipse that was coming up. Went on a free guided tour about Lowell his passion and wealth, the beautiful property during the fall and, the main telescope story and construction.

Disappointed that the newer observation building was not open and couldn't do any sun gazing. We were short on time with only 3hrs so had to cut things short. With everything available you could easily spend 5hr+ id imagine.
Very informative tour, it provides a big picture of how Flagstaff came to be and the contributions of the Riordan family to the development of the region.

Great local park near downtown Flagstaff. Has a series of trails, including a popular 2-mile loop that is great for walking, running, and biking. Arizona Trail passes through it. Sweeping views of the San Francisco Peaks. An easy escape to nature for those looking for it.

Very cool downtown! So glad me and a friend stumbled upon this area. It has a cool vibe, wish we had been here earlier in the day to visit all the coffee shops.

Got caught in the rain downtown with a friend, found a cool bookstore.
$2 for the self-guided tour and $12 for the guided tour which allows you to go inside the mansion. It seems like the guided tour is scheduled every hour and accepted a certain amount of people. Staff are friendly. The landscape and the mansion are beautiful and very well maintained.
We had, in David, a seriously knowledgeable person on the mansion and the Riordans for our tour, This is a state historical park. How the Riordans played a part in the milling and forestry industry, their art awareness, and fairness to workers made me appreciate their legacy more. The home is immaculate and amazing. This is a must-see if you are at all interested in the history of Northern Arizona.
My 1st time exploring downtown and must say. Didnt care for all the homeless guys smoking weed and living in Heritage square. Thought the area would be alot more kept up.

The STAR WARS EXIBIT IS NOT THERE ANYMORE, NEITHER IS R2D2 FYI! This is a beautiful museum with lots of interesting pieces and exhibits. The only downside is the gift shop is VERY expensive, beautiful & unique items but expensive. There isn't children's section in the shop where you can get an affordable small memento or keepsake. Even the stickers start at 10 dollars. The shop is geared towards collectors not children who may be visiting the museum as well. I asked one of the gift shop attendees if there was another gift shop and she rudly just said, "No". Some of the reviews indicate there are indeed two giftshops. My son was quite disappointed at the end of our visit but still thought it was a nice museum overall. My children aged 8 & 1 enjoyed the random ant play area.

No overnight parking. Tow zone- come on Flagstaff, we're can travelers park for a few nights passing through? 👎 BUT, I saw a great sunrise behind Mt Ekden there. Nice place to walk a dog.
The Riordan Mansion was well worth the stop on our trip! I would highly recommend doing the tour of the inside. It’s cheap and well worth it. Our docent was super knowledgeable and there’s a lot to see inside. It was also fun to walk around the grounds. It’s a perfect way to kill 2 hours!
Wish I'd had more time to explore Flagstaff. Very nice eclectic town. They have done a great job of keeping their original downtown area alive and engaging for tourists. I will be visiting again and will definitely make time for Flagstaff!
This museum is fantastic. I wish I had more time to visit. If I lived in the area I would become a member. Their exhibits change something there's always something new. There's a lot to unpack. Best part is learning about the People of the Colorado Plateau from themselves. I love to hear people tell Their-story rather than History. It's more authentic that way. If you're in the area go there. It's worth it.
We had never heard of this place, but had some time to kill before checkin at our hotel, so we found the entrance (it's behind where we expected!) and went in, deciding to pay for the guided tour. Definitely worth it -- the history was fascinating, and our tour guide was very knowledgable.

There were only four of us on the tour, so Charlotte was able to answer all our questions and let us know everything about both houses, who had lived there and why some things were changed and others are pretty much the same as when the family left it.

Really beautiful park if you want to go on a nice walk or stroll and enjoy beautiful scenery. The trails are clearly marked, including the really wide, dirt 2-mile loop. Very dog friendly and there are all sorts of exercise challenges around the loop. There was ample parking.
Traveled from Arkansas and wanted to see some museums but this was closed on Sunday even though website showed open. Very disappointed.
Never been here, was my first time. Interesting place, went exploring this day. Pretty nice and quiet, they also have a area to lounge for quiet time. Was nice! Gift shop is excellent as will. Check it if your in the area, needing something to do. Until next time! 15$ to get in, unless your Native American 10$. 👍
We really enjoyed our time here! We did the tour and spent almost two hours total with the tour and looking at exhibits. Tours start on the hour. Our tour guide was Kira and she was amazing. Easy to understand, excited about the info, seemed to love her job, and she could answer all our questions. Everything on the grounds and in the house is very well taken care of. Worth the time and price of admission.
This is a very large very clean museum. Kid friendly, quiet, very entertaining! There is also much to learn here from prehistoric to modern times. I would definitely go back again because I couldn't get through the whole thing the first time.
Nice, small museum. Friendly volunteer staff — helpful and knowledgeable. Worth a visit!
Sadly for us the museum is only open on weekends. But you still can see the training quad a d read about its history. Next time on a weekend
What a great museum to see James L. Denton was very friendly and knowledgeable so many great exabits to see My fav was the MGR-42 German machine gun! Karen & I will be visiting again, Karen and PJ.
The Museum is CLOSE during winter. I hope the can update their information. But the place look fantastic from the outside, like old barracks buildings.
Wonderful little museum! Plan on minimum 1 hour if you just scan thru, 2 hours if you're really interested in the facts because every square inch of the walls and then some is covered with artifacts and information! The 158th has been helping Arizona and the world since before Arizona was a state! The volunteers were both encyclopedias of info, and both had roots with the fort. Wonderful bits from battling natives and establishing a new culture to Afghanistan is covered in these two buildings, GREAT for the history buffs!!!!!
Cool place to camp for a two day dual sport event that we had gone to.
Great ramada and tree covered area. We had 60 people and had plenty of room. The area next to the ramada had a horseshoe pit, as well as open areas that we used for corn hole, yarts, and frisbees. They also had a basketball court. Area was clean when we got there. Electricity was locked up, but we didn't need it. There was a porta-john in the parking lot...not great but there when it was needed. Clean inside. Lots of parking. I liked the fact that there were recycle bins as well as plenty of trash containers. Nice big tables....6 of them that seated 6 to 8 people comfortably. We will use this location again. Friendly staff who helped if needed, but not in our way.
