Great time, pleasant relaxing and great meditation and learning experience.

I have camped here many times. The white oak tent campground is great, most of the rv campground is too open for my liking but I found the far loop of the main campground is actually nice. Cg is well kept and host was friendly. There are a few nice trails and the statue is very cool. Other parks are also nearby if you need more hiking options.

This park is super nice. Electric only. There are water spigots where you can get water and a dump station. There are plenty of trees for cover from the sun in the summer. Plenty of parking spaces.
The Black Hawk Statue is located here in the park. Easy walk from the campground. Beautiful scenery.

We loved going for the Olde English Faire during Autumn On Parade. So many cool things to see, lovely costumes and characters all over! Everyone was so nice and welcoming. The kids loved the castle too!

The Olde English Renaissance Faire in October is something I anxiously look forward to each year. There's no better setting than an actual castle for this event. Please keep having events like this!

Terrific castle and cosplay event.

An imposing Black Hawk Statue. It's great that you can drive to the top of the hill where it is located. We walked down the almost 150 steps to the riverbank. There is a nice trail right next to the river.

Beautiful campground with nice trails.

A good place to camp if you don’t mind being 5 to 10 steps away from your neighbors. All camping spots are very close together in a small piece of land where there’s no trees between spots.
If you enjoy strangers, fellow campers staring at you while you cook or do your things, then this is the perfect camping ground for you.

Very cool statues, beautiful flowers planted through out the park.

What a beautiful place with a bunch of happy memories. I remember my Mom bringing me here to tire me out when I was little. Now it's a must see Illinois attraction.

Great place to camp and hike. The place is serene and beautiful. I enjoyed my hike around here.

Must stop along the stretch of road that has so much to offer! Free entry, best view of the river by far. The vista house viewpoint is what is in my pictures below, no hike— just a windy road and a parking lot.

What a wonderful weekend getaway with my friends!!! You can have such a great time here. So beautiful, staff is amazing and accommodating. Love love love ❤️ we stayed at Sears Center ... did it up a Lil to make it cozier!!!

This is hands down my 2nd most favorite Oregon scene! The old highway through the gorge starting at the Vista House is my absolute favorite drive especially during fall season. But be careful, the gorgeous scenery and beauty of it can be hypnotizing and its a tiny but dangerous road if you dont know what your doing. So drive slow!

For detailed vids on waterfall hikes in this area check my YouTube channel - WaterfallWhispering This area is packed with amazing hikes ranging from easy to difficult, some wheel chair accessible and some roadside attractions…with others that can quite challenging to reach! If you love the outdoors and waterfalls, visit my channel and I promise you will be dying to visit the gorge area!!!!

We were only able to visit the lookout as there was hunting in the park. It is a beautiful overlook of the rock river. If you make the climb up to it be prepared for over a hundred steps upward. Take your time and enjoy the views. There are benches to rest on at the top if you just want to relax and take it all in. There is also another overlook right by the river which is a much shorter climb. Take a short stroll along the bank of the river. It is a great place to stop and enjoy the beauty of the river.

Beautiful lake! Absolutely stunning!! Southern access only through route 62 (11/26/23) currently. Northern highway is closed. Please check online before you visit.

Very cold and icy, but an amazing view of the lake. Absolutely beautiful. Be careful of the blue ice on the floor. Also wear snow boots. Hiked for a bit. Nice trails around the lake. Overall pretty good.

🤩Absolutely beautiful! The lake is so so blue, as blue as the deep sea, and it’s just a lake! Amazing experience, dazzling views, stunning nature. Would like to come back again! The animals there are super cute!

You don't see the overlook when you first get into the parking lot but there is a sign pointing where to go. It's right off the parking lot and right off the river after you climb some stairs.

A great park with so much to see. Check out Multnomah Falls and Tunnel Falls while you're there!

What an experience! I wish we had had more time to see different vantage points of the lake or to hike even! As with most national parks, it was crowded. But that tends to be par for the course with these more popular parks. Beautiful and majestic!

Drove two hours from Bend to get a better shot of viewing the 2023 annular solar eclipse in October. Thankfully National Parks Service opened the North Gate making the drive shorter by a good half an hour.
The low wall at this Vista point was perfect for observing. There’s a good reason to heat the warning about the steepness of the cliff. The winds were blowing very strong/high up there.
Photos speak for themselves. The lake view is stunning. It was October after a hot summer, but snow was still piled up! And one clip will show you that on the plains across the road the snow covered the land.
Still perhaps most amazing of all that day was the wonderful community of people that had made their way from all across the country and even Canada to be at that geographic place to observe this particular happening in the sky.
Highly recommend to use restrooms whenever you come across them because they are not everywhere in the park. One week fee, which is the only option if you’re coming for a day, is $30 per car. If you plan to return might be worth buying the $55 pass. And if you run out of gas, there is apparently a gas station in the park at the Rim center.

We were there for an event. What a great place! Fishing. Bird watching. Jogging. Walking. Historical site. Open and treed areas. Water access. I'll be back!

My wife and I attended an Old English fair at the Stronghold. It was a neat experience with several informative and entertaining displays. 10/10 I'd go again.

Beautiful place with multiple trails to walk and a nice lookout over the river. Decent elevation change

The Renesance Faire was great. The castle is beautiful. We are planning to attend again next year.

We went there for the Olde English Faire which was fun. Toured the castle, listened to music and singing, watched shows, checked out the vendors.

The Columbia River Gorge is a must see if you’re in the greater Portland Area. It’s only 20 mins down the road and it has so much room for all the other tourists as well. The falls are gorgeous, and the trails provide so many unique angles of the Columbia river.

Incredible views! The water is an insanely cool blue. Wish I had a full day to spend here and do a tour and boat ride. Will definitely be coming back.
Don’t stop at the first viewpoint that’s clogged with people, there are other viewpoints that are less crowded, each offering an amazing view as breathtaking and unique as the next.
The road up to the rim is a beautiful drive with a great view of Diamond Peak out in the distance.
Would love to come back when the road has been restored and the drive around the whole lake is open.

What a dream. 1000% recommend. A good amount of trails to choose from and quite a few pull offs. If you don't have a camper/kitchen set, plan ahead for dinner, not too many restaurants to choose from in a short driving distance.

Crater Lake National Park is an awe-inspiring natural wonder that leaves an indelible impression on anyone fortunate enough to visit. From the moment you catch your first glimpse of the lake's deep blue waters, you'll understand why this place is often described as a slice of heaven on Earth.

It's a beautiful place to stop and relax. It's neat and clean. When walking around, I have noticed that trash barrels where secured with chains. Initially, I blamed visitors, but on the second thought I belive that the raising water would easily sweep away anything that floats.

Easy and low elevation summit (0.3 mile that gains 60 feet or so) to a gorgeous panoramic view of the Rock river winding through this hilly area. The overlook has a sturdy and well-built wooden staircase leading to two different levels of platform where you can take in the scenery. It's hot up there in the summer with NO shade, so make sure you hydrate after lingering. Nice place to see fall foliage as well. I think open year round? Ample parking adjacent to the river with a slight sloping bank good for boat/kayak launches. There's a few picnic tables there under some shade trees. Make this visit the final stop after longer hikes in Castle Rock State Park--nice forested trails with bubbling brooks. Minimal elevation overall, so easy hiking.

Nice place to visit, it so simple to get to that we took my 87 year old mom for a walk up to the observation platform.

Lovely place with several miles of hiking through forests, prairies, and meadows. Perfect summer or fall getaways. About 4 miles if you do all of the loops (see Castle Rock North Trails on AllTrails). Generally rated as easy as its a loop trail and mostly flat with only about 400 feet of elevation gain here and there. Trails are easy to follow and well-maintained despite the low traffic. The observation "deck" is decent with a good view of a valley with tall grasses and pretty flowers in the spring/summer.
Should be gorgeous views with all the foliage changes. Generally fairly quiet with the occasional sounds of trucks from highway 2 yet not many people. Scenic and well-groomed/kept picnic area with a roofed and concrete-floor eating area (multiple tables). Rustic restrooms at the start of the trails near the picnic area.

Amazing winding trails plus a scenic overlook offering great views of the Rock River. One of my favorite Illinois state parks.

Beautiful scenery. Amazing water falls. Excellent trails. Several nice campgrounds, both state park & national forest run. You need an OR state park pass &/or an national interagency pass (America the Beautiful or Northwest Forest) for parking at many of the the trailheads or day use areas. Or you can purchase a day use pass for $5-10 depending on area.
The only negatives are the extremely crowded popular areas & the constant noise of a major interstate highway combined with a heavily used freight railway. Bring your ear plugs if you plan on camping in the gorge!

We visited this overlook twice this year (winter and summer). It's an easy 5 minute walk, up the stairs. In winter you get better view of the Rock River, and in summer its partially obstructed by the tree line. The views are pretty in both the seasons nonetheless. There are two lower / upper decks, and both of them have a bench where you can just sit, relax and enjoy the views. If you'd like to spend more time, there are couple of picnic tables and grills near the river bank. Porta potty only in the summer.

Enjoyed the little scenic area by the river. Have not explored many of the other trails but it's worth it just to see the scenic river.

Very well kept. Park. Sights are electricity only but still nice. Oregon Illinois is nearby and a very clean town. The waterfall on the rock river is nice to view. Blackhawk statue was cool but under repair.

Wide trails and quiet park. A mile long trail with a little bit of every terrain. Keep dog on a leash. Nice large picnic area and old school swing set and an outhouse building. No water pump so bring your own water.

This entire area will leave you amazed and awed. The Gorge is never the same, all the wild flowers are blooming, waves of color. Trails are abundant and varied. Take time to check out trail information, they all have something amazing to offer. Let yourself leave your daily regimen for the stillness and comfort of nature. Be aware that dogs/animals are not welcome on all trails. Just enjoy yourself and friends and family, there is something for everyone!!

Located just south of Oregon, Illinois and just minutes from numerous camping locations the overlook offers some incredible views of the Rock River. Open year round you my just want to come back several times and take in the views during the different seasons

Clean, well maintained park. Beautiful river. Saw pack of wild turkeys. The scenic overlook off route 2 was a good view. Did anyone lose a kitty backpack? Found at the River landing on route 2.

Beautiful view. You have to climb up a few flights of stairs but to me it was worth it. Our dogs weren't big fans of the stairs as they're made out of metal and are open, so we had to carry our 60lbs husky just down the stairs as he did ok walking upstairs but our 9 year lab old we had to carry her up and down the stairs. The view from the overlook is amazing. Nice lake and you're surrounded by lots of trees. Some people were kayaking on the lake and we saw a few hawks flying by us, which was very nice to see. There is another overlook, much smaller and more accessible as the stairs are much wider and made out of wood, not open. It's a view on the lake and some trees. We also did Heather Valley trail that's a mile down the road and it was nice. It was an hour hike in a forest and some was walking through a field of flowers, which was pretty nice. There were some hills that you had to climb on that trail but nothing extreme. There is also a small overlook which was pretty. They also had a much shorter trail there that was only 15min long. Nice views overall.

The overlook was cool. Smaller than i expected but ok. Hiked the north trails, they were ok only one scenic spot we found interesting the rest was just a decent walk in the woods. Not too exciting.
