The church has a lovely peaceful energy and atmosphere I like that each bench has a small door, which gives you enough privacy when you pray. There is also the opportunity to place your prayer cards in front of each bench. There were also not too many people there, when I prayed.

I have wanted to visit for many years, so glad I did. Shame that so much security has to be in a place of worship but I understand. There is such a sense of history sitting in the church, the architecture, the skills used, the designs. All of it is just amazing.
I didnt have the chance to go inside but it looks gorgeus outside great architecture and I absolutely love the spot to take beautiful pictures I would recomment to come here this part of the city is one of my favotite places in NY. The architecture is magnificent
Great place for worship for those who speak Russian and non-Russian speakers alike. There are two churches technically, one that caters to Russian speakers and one for English speakers etc. amazing place.
Beautiful architecture. Peaceful inside. Free to the public. Lovely place to stop in for some history. Pews we’re open for those who wanted to linger. Bathrooms available too. Church staff were also distributing meals to those in need.

You can always come daily in Manhattan from 5:00-7:00 P.M. and receive a package of free prepared meals for those in need of food. Very good food sets, every day a different assortment, sushi, sandwiches, potatoes with chicken meat, ready-made fresh salads.

Shame on them, the conservative movement of actual Judaism doesn’t claim them because this “synagogue” is not practicing Judaism. One of the most deceitful churches out there. Two testament conservative Judaism doesn’t exist. Their whole thing is a lie.
Edit: they also don’t know their Talmud, nor their tanakh. The suffering servant is about Israel, not about the messiah, and Bavli Sukkah 52a is about Zechariah, not about Isaiah. It’s clear this “rabbi” only learns things out of context that he think can help convert people

Beautiful church, welcoming clergy, and meaningful services. This is traditional Episcopalian "high church" but they have a modern view and do a good job of making the church relevant to today's world while maintaining tradition, and have newcomer classes for people who want to learn more. Three service times on Sundays and mid-week Weds service too. The motto of the Episcopal Church is "The Episcopal Church welcomes you!"
We were lucky to visit on a Sunday and were able to go inside. The architecture is beautiful and grand. There are graveyards and garden outside to take a stroll and relax.
A great place to go to visit for us as catholic, its a roman catholic church with a many held famous event and hollywood movie. The building architecture is iconic.
This is not a church but a secular organization. If you’re truly seeking God, you will be better served getting a study bible and reading the Word on your own. This place does not preach the gospel but rather tries to make you feel good by “softening” the message as you continue a sinful lifestyle, so you feel encouraged to give them your resources. It’s all sophistication, nothing offensive at all about what they do, but the gospel IS offensive; the truth is the truth and it can stand on its own. Also, they will try to make it about you when it should be about God and what His Word says. Be careful and do not be deceived.

I will tell everyone I know Rich and poor definitely not to attend your church. I grew up on that block. This is a total DISGRACE. Obviously you don’t care in the least!!!!!!!
Really enjoyed this church. Church is smaller compared to some others in NYC. There's a sense of calm here. Plus tons of history. I recommend coming here. See the Graves and enjoy the architecture.

Beautiful church. The exceptional woman minister was moved up and replaced with a mediocre male minister who does not have critical thinking skills . Luke warm nice guy, with no fire in the belly. No inspiration for those who yearn to go further and deeper. The congregation is almost totally white and middle, upper middle class. They do put on some events that bring in more depth. But the Sunday routine is pleasant but mundane.
Such a nice and peaceful on Sunday late afternoon. I was on the way to get snack, when I saw this church, I had to stepped in and sit inside for a while. I love the architecture, arts and color glass around the church. I don't want to interrupt another people, so I just sit not to deep and listen to nice and wonderful music.

Fabulous interiors. A beautiful place for worship, in a style seldom seen in the area. It looks very old but I think it's not really old, not even 200 years old, if I am not mistaken. I used to come here regularly over 15 years ago on Sundays. It's close to the subway station so it's accessible. Tonight we were here for music performance, which was awesome. It was packed that Friday night.
St. Bart’s is a very welcoming community and they host many events. The building is historic and beautiful. Liturgically they are a broad church.
Having grown up in this synagogue my entire life, I am proud to be a part of this life-changing, enlightening, and inclusive community of my people and a part of this synagogue that has been run by my parents for even before I was born. With sound and *fully-informed* logic, a heart-warming and *ever-welcoming* atmosphere, and a sacred and unconditionally profound environment, I always have been and always will be honored, humbled and happy to forever be a part of the Messianic community of Congregation Beth El of Manhattan. I have been a member since October 1996. I have also been to several other Messianic synagogues here in the City. Yet, I keep coming back to my “home” shul. Why? Because I feel it is the most authentic, sane, vibrant 2Testament Jewish form of worship and teaching in NYC.

Messianic, meaning: Christian, church that pretends to be Jewish. If you are looking for a authentic synagogue where an authentic form of Judaism is practiced, look elsewhere. There are plenty of options in Manhattan. This is not one of them.
It should be obvious: any person or institution professing believe in Jesus and the New Testament is NOT Jewish by definition but Christian.

Very quite spiritual chapel without pretensions/ being there for prayers calm your nerve

I have been attending Congregation Beth El for a few years now and appreciate the close fellowship with fellow members as well as Rabbi Bruce Cohen’s availability, willingness and passion to answer and address Biblical and spiritual questions.

This is a wonderful two testament synagogue with a scripturally based approach to reaching and teaching! I cannot recommend Beth El enough to anyone who values their Jewish lineage, is engaged in return and is looking for a home for two testament belief within a Jewish cultural and tradition based framework. An excellent resource for those of the house of Israel with two testament beliefs who are rightfully out of place in a Christian gentile experience.
The Synod has been awful caretakers of this historic, landmarked building. The cornice is falling down and has been covered to protect passersby for many years with no sign of repairs being made. There is water damage on the front facade that gets worse every month. They should sell the building to someone who can properly care for the building. Right now it's on a slippery slope to condemnation.
A jewel of Gothic architecture in downtown Manhattan. I love to come here to photograph the stunning courtyard in all seasons. One of my favorites in the city to visit.
I found this church during the height of the Covid Pandemic, in which I was home bound, and could not attend my local church in Atlanta. Through the outreach program at St. Bart’s Church, NY, NY, I found this spiritually-based, egalitarian church via television broadcasting throughout America (and perhaps elsewhere). All of the clergy are exceptionally kind and intelligent. This is a love-based church, as Jesus had taught us all to be in reaching for God.

I always visit this church when I am in NYC. They are committed to faithful exposition of the Holy Word of God.

Compelling sermons, great music. I have asked for deacons help and they were wonderful. I listen to their founder's sermons on line.
Absolutely beautiful church. The architecture is a great respite from the blandness of New York City. I'm not sure what era it it, but it reminds me of medieval times. Inside is a good place to go if you want to get away from the busyness of the city, and just want to sit and think.
A wonderful cathedral with the relics of St. Nicholas II, Imperial Tsar of Russia (his coronation robe), and of Grand Duchess St. Elizabeth and her handmaiden St. Barbara.
So this is the new place where they will be serving Saturday lunch for the homeless and in need. The old place was St. Joseph's at 371 6th Ave. Beautiful church and the food, as always, was delicious. From 1:30pm to 2:30 pm every Saturday. Thank you for the wonderful compassion.
Absolutely Loved the space, it's like no church I've ever visited in my life. Most conciousnness was put into building this sacred space and was able to feel Holiness and Peace in this crowded and busy city. I recommend both a visit to Saint Bartolomé and Saint Patrick's as you will be able to feel and sense the inspiration and spirit that was the bedrock foundation of NYC. Pictures do not render tribute to the beautiful mosaic's and the inner experience. Visit, visit !

A vision of pure amasment. Wonderful classic gothic architecture. Beautiful place of worship. Have not attended services however I imagine it's typical of it's faith. A must see for out of town visitors to NYC. Who enjoy history and architecture. 👍🙏👍🙏

Simply the most beautiful church in Manhattan. It is an Evangelical Episcopal Church. It is Quiet, Reverant and a beautiful symbol of Christian History. We were there for the Easter Service this year but attended for more than 15 years before we moved away.
Big and popular Russian church for Christian Orthodox. Great atmosphere. Very nice people who have been working and coming here for years or decades. Easy access by M1, M2, M3, M4 bus and walk to M96 Crosstown and (6) train at Lexington / 96th.
This is one of my favorite churches in town. I love the gothic look and I absolutely adore the garden. Right now they have daffodils flower and the magnolia is blooming. Luckily for us the gate to the garden was open so we went it to explore. Live video is available on my Facebook page 🔥

Great place to learn and grow in Christianity, lot's of small groups to get plugged into as well.
Great city church. I thought it would be hard to get plugged in but there are tons of young professionals and small community group throughout the city so that you can make friends. Also, this church does SO much community work for the poor, neighbors, single mothers, immigrants...it’s amazing. It’s a church that gives truth, work and love to this city.
This French Gothic Revival church is one of the most astonishing in Manhattan. The surrounding landscape is one of a kind, giving the whole site and the school a sense of a European campus. I was lucky to find it open one day, so I took the opportunity. You have to know the schedule so don’t come without checking online first.

Great service. The message was amazing and the music was great. It was a bit hard to figure out where the entrance is. When we got out of the cab there was another couple looking for the entrance too, so it wasn’t just us. The address is Park Ave but the entrance is around the corner on 69th Street.
I'm writing because I am confused by the previous review. I too live in the neighborhood of Old First. Though I don't live close enough to comment on the air conditioning unit, I've never noticed the sidewalks unkept, and I've never heard the church bells ring except as a call to worship on Sundays (and certainly not playing any pop songs). Also, what food distribution on Saturday mornings? I think that is a different church. Old First does, however, have a number of outreach and community oriented programs, including art exhibits, lectures and concerts, as well as charitable activities.
Is the previous reviewer referencing the right church? As a long time Village resident, I certainly feel grateful to have Old First in my neighborhood.

I know nothing of the church's politics or liturgy but I do know the church is a terrible neighbor. In the winter, they do not shovel their sidewalks after a snow storm; in the summer the battleship that is the air-conditioning on their roof emits an unremitting noise, disturbing all who live near the building. They claim not to have enough money to properly insulate the air-conditioner, yet they found the money to rehabilitate their bells, which play pop tunes from time to time on no regular schedule. I hope they do not hide behind their Saturday morning food distribution as evidence of their charitable instincts--though exemplary their thoughtlessness toward their immediate neighbors is shameful.The church's priorities are a mystery and their self-serving policies are a stain on the entire Presbyterian denomination. P.S. Turns out the food distribution program is not theirs but rather the Episcopal church on Tenth Street; recipients merely line up beside First Pres.
