Delicious, classy and romantic. I recommend the Taglionlini Neri (squid ink pasta with seafood), the house wine was wonderful and paired well with the meal, and the staff was polite, professional and prompt.

TL;DR: If you have the money to spend and want to be adventurous, this is a good spot for you. If you're saving up for a special occasion and don't normally go to $$$ restaurants, skip this one and opt for an RPM or other place where the menu is predictable and you're sure to walk away with a satisfied palate and be treated like a 5-star customer.

Pros:
- Lovely ambience. The restaurant had a lively feel and sitting at a two-person table, I was able to hear 95% of what my coworker was saying and actually see the food I was eating. Cannot say the same for other high-end restaurants where the music is too loud or lights dimly lit. This had a lovely vibe (albeit very, very small entrance area that would not be comfortable for waiting in the winter, summer is fine).
- Our server gave an air of expertise but also made us feel incredibly comfortable--as if we were long time friends visiting him at his workplace. When our last dessert course left us with a sour taste, he brought us a banana chocolate creme that was much more satisfactory to end the night on. He even sent us home with several loaves of green tea bread so that we (and our significant others) could have some Boka-taste to share.
- Very unique dishes and beautifully presented. We did the 8-course dining option with no alcohol pairing (opted for non-spirit drinks instead).

Cons:
- Food was 2/5 in my opinion. The meat dishes were overpowered by the salty sauce pairings. The desserts were unique, but ending the night on a rhubarb was far too sour. For such a highly rated restaurant, I really hoped to love every dish... but most of them I truly didn't care for. The Tuna Taco was overpowered by the shiso leaf. Hiramasa and Arctic Char both carried sauces so salty that I could barely taste the rest of the plate.
- I was glad this was a work meal comped by my company, otherwise I would have been very disappointed to have spent the money out of pocket with my spouse or friend for a special occasion.
- Besides our waiter, the rest of the service we received was mediocre. The hostess at the front treated my coworker and I as if we didn’t belong in the restaurant… the original reservation was made in my boss’s name (Sumanth); but when I arrived, I let the hostess know it should actually be under Natalie instead. When we were taken to our table, they called me Samantha. Close, but also for a Michelin starred restaurant and for one that I had barely, minutes before, told them the correct name… seemed like a very sloppy mistake.
- Typically I book large events and business dinners for my executive and their teams, but this is one place I’d skip for the future.
This was the best fine dining experience I’ve ever had. The service was immaculate, we were taken very good care of. We decided to dine with the Easter tasting menu- a 6 course dinner (1 course was a shot). It blew our minds! Everything tasted great and the presentation was beautiful. The drinks were amazing, tasty and got us feeling good throughout the night. We were brought 2 “compliments from the chef” & we’re given a free espresso martini with dessert! Kinzie Chophouse is awesome, definitely recommend for a special night out.
ps. the phone did not eat first.

Ate here the first time in January 2019 and enjoyed it, especially the sea bass. My wife remembered the meal and wanted it again. We were able to find the restaurant again and we were not disappointed. Excellent food, service and atmosphere. We will be back next time we are in Chicago.

The Rigatoni alla buttera was perfection on so many levels. I also loved the cesaer salad. The flavors were amazing. The vibe of the restaurant was Classy Italian. Established and well trained wait staff. The waiter spoke Italian as well which made me feel like I was in Italy. Great wine list. Wonderful experience overall.

I was able to experience the tasting menu. Each dish was very different but somehow worked together. There were different textures, sauces, temperatures. All of which were delicious. I can honestly say that I enjoyed every dish they served. The servers explained each dish as it was brought to the table, and my host was enjoyable and attentive. I will be back for sure.

25 ⭐️ if I could give it. We went for dinner on a Sunday evening. Absolutely amazing food and staff. Adam was our server and he went above and beyond to make our experience outstanding. The rest of the staff was also great. They all worked together and u could tell they like what they do. I Would go back any time we are in the Chicago area.

Nice place for a business dinner for a group of 8-10. Several sushi appetizers for the spot. Entrées chiffres mainly is seafood and meat fare, all with good presentation and generous portions.

Desserts were shareable size and I in think I was about to try a tablespoon of each of the warm butter cake, layered carrot cake, and chocolate peanut butter cake -- all of which were moist and scrumptious for the few bites I rewarded myself with.

Beautiful restaurant and sophisticated. We tried some of the smaller dishes which the beef tartare was fresh and well balance with the chips on top. The scallops on the other hand with the sauce on top was too salty to my liking but the cucumber with it was really good idea.

We only saw the waiter when he took our order, and delivered our flaming cheese and then came back for ordering the dessert and the check. Other staff members delivered the rest of our food and dessert. We asked other servers for lemon, beverage refills, and to exchange a burnt dessert for one that wasn't burnt. Thank goodness for other staff members. Our waiter was MIA. The appetizers, meatballs and flaming cheese were very good. I recommend both the meatballs and flaming cheese. Unfortunately the spanakopita (spinach filo) was overcooked with hard crusty filo dough on top. The combination plate was ok. The lamb was overcooked, and the moussaka was overcooked. The baklava was also burnt on the bottom and we had to ask for a replacement. The place is decorated very well and very inviting. There is free valet service which is unheard of with easy in and out drop offs. I have been here before and the food was great. Tonight they didn't make the mark. I will come again as it was probably an off night.

Awesome experience! You should definitely ask them to bring out the meat tray so you can visually understand the size and hear their descriptions of the various cuts.

The bone marrow was pretty awesome and I ordered the ribeye. In all honesty, the sides and appetizers were consistently awesome.

That said, I was a little disappointed in the baked Alaska, but my friends liked it. Perhaps it is a case of to each his own, and it is perfectly fine as they ate all of it.

This was the most amazing dining experience we ever had! Food was incredible but the service was out of this world! I’ve never seen such attention to detail. The entire staff was superb but Troy and Abel made us feel like we were royalty. HIGHLY recommend, especially for a romantic dinner experience.

I truly cannot say enough good things about our dining experience at Boka. My husband and I have never dined at a restaurant with a Michelin Star before, and decided that our trip to Chicago would be an excellent time for our first! The service was phenomenal from beginning to end, and the staff really go the extra mile to personalize the experience for you. We decided to do the 8 course tasting menu, and we are so glad we did! You get the pleasure of tasting so many dishes, and every single course left my husband and I borderline speechless. The dishes were so flavourful, and so unique to anything we had ever had before. All of the staff were incredibly friendly, attentive, and knowledgeable. This dinner was a bit on the expensive side for us, but I can truly say it was worth every penny! We will definitely be back for a special occasion in the future.

We came here for our anniversary and did the tasting menu. First off, the atmosphere is so lovely, so warm, inviting, and welcoming. They offer to take your coats before sitting you at your table. We sat in the back area underneath the beautiful glass canopy. Our waiter was attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. This was our first time at a Michelin starred restaurant, and the service alone was worth it! My husband joked that his glass of water was never even a little bit empty. They were that impressive! All the dishes were superb. Each glass of wine paired so perfectly with each dish, creating multiple flavor profiles every time. The trout was unbelievable, I've never had fish that tender. At the end of the meal, they gave us to go snacks and a menu of our meal including the wine! The pound cake treat was phenomenal. Can't wait to come back!!
Restaurant Review: Greek Islands in Chicago

I recently treated myself to dinner at Greek Islands in Chicago, seeking an authentic Greek dining experience, and I must say, I was pleasantly surprised by my visit. As I arrived, I was pleased to find complimentary valet service, which is a rare convenience in the bustling city of Chicago.

Upon entering the restaurant, I was greeted by a warm and welcoming hostess, setting the tone for a delightful evening. The staff's attentive service continued as even the gentleman offering water was friendly and accommodating. My waiter, Claudio, was knowledgeable about the menu and graciously assisted me in navigating the various options.

The atmosphere of Greek Islands was inviting, and I particularly enjoyed sitting next to the fireplace, which provided a cozy touch, especially as I tend to get cold easily. I decided to order the riblets, unaware of the generous portion size that awaited me. The dish came with sides of broccoli, rice, gravy, and potatoes. While the potatoes were not to my liking, the rice and gravy were decent, and the broccoli was cooked to perfection. The riblets, although flavorful, could have been more tender for my taste.

Despite this minor setback, my overall experience at Greek Islands was quite enjoyable. The quality and quantity of food received for the price paid exceeded my expectations. I left the restaurant satisfied and already contemplating my next visit to explore different menu offerings. If you appreciate Greek culture and cuisine, Greek Islands in Chicago is certainly worth a visit for a memorable dining experience.

Very big and cozy greek island market and restaurant vibe. Service is pretty good. Friendly staff. Amazing food. Vegetarian and Gluten-free free friendly menu options. Flaming saganaki cheese is a must to order. The Mediterranean octopus dish is the best octopus I've ever had. Lavraki is also pretty good. I was hesitant to as I'm not as experience deboning fish, but the servers are professional at deboning the fish for you. Home-made yogurt with walnut and honey is a pretty good healthy dessert. Vanilla bean ice cream is also good. Strongly recommend the Greek Island special for those with sweet tooth who also enjoy multiple textures (shreded filo dough, walnuts, lemon custard, creamy topping) Gender neutral family restroom available.

Excellent service all around. Our waiter was so attentive, friendly, and fast! To add, the other workers refilling water, and clearing empty plates off the tables were extremely efficient… you will definitely not experience bad service at this restaurant, even on nights that are very busy (we had to wait 20 minutes for a table).

Avgolemomo soup (lemon egg rice) was so flavorful, and the fried calamari was very fresh with just the right amount of breading… the salad was fresh, and the classic gyro plate with tzatziki sauce was plentiful in portion and also delicious. The pita bread was so soft and freshly made.

Will absolutely be back!
Best Greek Restaurant in Chicago!! Fantastic Greek food, awesome atmosphere, great service!! Kosta our server was very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable. We also love Stephanos . If you go to Greektown in Chicago, you have to go to this restaurant!

This restaurant has it ALL from the location, views, ambiance/music, drinks, food AND especially the service! The front desk host (I hate I forgot her name) was SO accommodating and helpful in assisting my party with surprising my best friend for her birthday. Our waiter Darren was AMAZING. He was so attentive, knowledgeable about the menu and just overall GREAT!! I had the salmon and they were able to blacken it for me along with the sticky rice that was SO good and a side of Brussels sprouts. EVERYTHING was top tier. We will definitely be back there again!

Next certainly deserves its Michelin star rating!
What an indulgent experience. From the rich authentic French cuisine to the timing and presentation, the overall meal was next level. It was a pleasure to savor each bite.
The staff were extremely professional; they were attentive, accomodating, and well knowledgeable with their dishes.
It was a very romantic, elegant and intimate atmosphere (perfect for a date!). The vibe was sophisticated (perhaps pretencious, but that is the point).
Definitely would recommend!

Amazing food once again. Went here for the first time in 1994 and the quality is still amazing. I had the scaloppini di vitello and it was amazing. My wife and daughter both had pasta dishes and loved every bite. Staff is very attentive. Look forward to future visits.

Amazing! I loved the food and wine here. Shrimp.l cocktail to start, lobster tail main and a delightful strawberry desert, all accompanied by the best wine selection I have found in Chicago. Where else in the world can you find Chateau d'Ychem Sauternes for such a reasonable price? Simply awesome. And the service is simply world class

From the moment we stepped into Alinea, we knew we were in for a truly unique and unforgettable experience. As we were celebrating our husband's and our friend's birthdays, the occasion felt even more special. The innovative cuisine, impeccable service, and vibrant atmosphere exceeded our expectations in every way.

Having previously experienced several Michelin-starred restaurants, we were prepared for something special. However, Alinea completely surpassed our previous culinary adventures. The dishes were not only visually stunning but also an explosion of flavors and textures. Each bite was a testament to the incredible talent and creativity of the chefs behind the scenes.

Beyond the food, the entire team at Alinea deserves the highest praise. We had the great pleasure of experiencing the coveted kitchen table, and our host, Calin, provided exceptional service throughout the evening. He guided us through the experience with expertise and genuine warmth, and his knowledge and passion for the restaurant were truly infectious.

While we didn't have the opportunity to meet Chef Achatz personally, the impact of his vision and leadership was evident in every aspect of the dining experience. The commitment to showcasing exceptional cuisine and creating a truly memorable experience for guests is palpable.

We left Alinea with lingering questions, but the knowledge that we had just witnessed something truly special. This is not just a restaurant; it's an experience like no other. We highly recommend Alinea to anyone seeking an unforgettable culinary adventure and a chance to push the boundaries of their palate.

Thank you to the entire Alinea team for creating such a magical night. We look forward to returning in the future.

An absolute WORLD CLASS experience!!! Made a trip to Chicago from Atlanta just to experience this amazing atmosphere, award winning delicious food and stellar service. Every course was entertaining!! By course 8, I was full however that did not stop my tastebuds from wanting more. I would suggest Alinea to anyone looking to enjoy a different dining experience for a birthday, anniversary any celebration or simply enjoying life!
Used to love coming to this place on Valentines day but after this last one we won't be going back. The Valentines day special was over priced and they only had it as a tasting option. The choices they selected were not to our liking therefore opted for regular menu. Went with the tomahawk which was big enough to share and requested it medium but when we got it was rare and had to send it back not just once but twice. The service was slower than usual and I was not a fan of the seating. When we got the bill I couldn't believe how over priced and what's worst no offer to at least provide a discount for their error. We had leftover but when got home realized they didn't pack the bone which is the best part! It's just not worth going back.

Definitely the most inventive dinner I’ve ever experienced. The food was excellent and everyone was full even before we finished all the courses. The wine pairing was also otherworldly- I was really happy to try some wines I’d never heard of before and they were expertly paired.

I highly recommend booking and enjoying this experience. Anyone who is rating this anything other than 4 or 5 stars must simply enjoy just hating life in general- so ignore them.

Absolutely brilliantly good food here. One of the best steaks I've ever had. However, the server told us "we didn't need to see the bill" as our company had already paid. We insisted on seeing the bill and saw she added 2 extra bottles of wine to our bill! Rather than admit to a mistake, she doubled down with "I opened 2 more bottles without telling anyone"... Which is way worse! Plus, the whole table agreed we only drank 2. That's a $200 dollar addition to our bill that no one asked for, nor consumed! She reluctantly removed the false charge. So please come here for the food, but CHECK YOUR BILL CAREFULLY!

Atmosphere here is charming. Service was ok not terrible and not great. Now let’s talk about the food, I really wanted to like this restaurant because the google reviews were so positive. But if you read enough reviews and have been let down so many times you take reviews with a grain of salt. The traditional Greek salad was not very traditional, it was mostly iceberg lettuce. Grilled octopus was tasty and cooked well. I ordered the tenderloin kebabs medium but got well done instead. The bell peppers are very sad looking. Grilled swordfish was cooked perfectly. The grilled shrimp kabobs were not fresh and tasted of ammonia. My wife and I both swallowed a bite of the shrimp before we realized it was bad. I hope we don’t get food poisoning from it.

Loved every dish. Everything was perfect, from service to tasty dishes. It was our third time dining here. This time for the restaurant week. We did wine pairing, which worked out so well since the wines the restaurant this caliber gets are thoroughly tested and matched for the dishes. After such a delightful experience I bought their cooking book for inspiration.

Had the 3 course Julia Child menu. Restaurant felt warm and cozy, but not very private. Found this particular menu a little bit salty and portion was a little small, especially for the price. I enjoyed the details such as aroma, explanations, etc but would have been better if the food felt more special.

Visited during restaurant week and had a wonderful experience. Wheat, oat, barley, rye, and malt allergies here so my options tend to be a little more limited at restaurants.
The bar staff made me an amazing cucumber cocktail (with a new to me potato vodka), and the waitress checked with kitchen about a few ingredients to be sure everything was safe. Everyone made me feel 100% comfortable and the food was delicious.
It’s also worth noting that my husband’s steak came out a little over cooked for his liking, and they replaced it in only a few minutes. Service was phenomenal.

Located steps from the Merchandise Mart in River North is Kinzie Chophouse. This woman owned steakhouse is celebrating 32 years of serving Chicago diners the best steak, seafood and pasta dishes with an infusion of Greek and Mediterranean flavors. ⁣

While known for their steaks and chops, you need to know how mouthwateringly delicious their seafood offerings are. As a seafood eater, I take great pride in sharing steakhouses that have memorable fish dishes. ⁣

⭐️Tip: order the tuna! ⭐️⁣

Enjoy Kinzie’s Happy Hour offered Monday - Friday from 2-6 pm. Highly suggest you try their Signature Martini. 🍸⁣

Bonus: Kinzie Chophouse is now open for dinner on Sundays. In addition, they have launched their new Odyssey Tasting Menu available exclusively on Sundays.⁣

The restaurant design is perfect for a business dinner, date night, girls night out or family gathering. ⁣

Everything was delightful and the complimentary breads are a sweet surprise. We had a great time and thanks to our server’s excellent suggestions, enjoyed every part of our dinner. The fish stew does not disappoint, it’s very filling and full of flavor. Highly suggest the octopus appetizer.
I enjoyed a nice lunch last year on my birthday and it was amazing. They had my table decorated with a birthday card, confetti and even a complimentary dessert. I enjoyed the food, atmosphere and service. I wish I could remember my waiter's name but he was amazing. Great experience!!

Absolutely amazing! I have been here for over ten different tasting menus over the years. This is my go to tasting menu because of how approachable it is and the common format you will realize that will never disappoint you. The Smokey flavored dessert was a complete surprise that I loved. The pasta course dare I say the best I have ever had.

My only complaint this time was the wine pairing seemed like 1 oz pours. I have never had this issue and I really hope it was just a fluke because the pairing is always spot on. I found myself needing more wine as I didn’t have enough left while eating the courses.

This review is late, we went June of 2023, but the experience was SUBLIME!!!! Service was like a well orchestrated ballet, FLAWLESS. The atmosphere was warm, intimate incredibly inviting. The food was EXQUISITE, fun, surprising, innovative and just plain beautiful. We laughed, we clapped our hands in delight, we giggled. If you ever wonder what sets a Michelin 3 from EVERYONE else, take a night to visit Alinea, it will NOT disappoint! As a side note, we love the confidence of a restaurant so renowned, there’s no sign on the door. Big energy in that!

Great restaurant, best food I've eaten in a long while. Service was excellent and attentive, and the wine pairing was immaculate. Food was beautifully presented as you can see from the photos, and the ambiance was on point. I'd highly recommend this place!

The menu has some great twists on some classic dishes; as a Brit I was really impressed by the sticky toffee pudding, which was simultaneously authentic yet had elements I'd never thought of adding!

I am finally getting around to writing this review but honestly just go to the restaurant.

The service is impeccable and the sommelier that we had absolutely made my fiancés birthday and our experience a 5 star Michelin experience. The food was insanely creative and so good we wanted to lick our plates. We will be scheduling our next visit because out of the several Michelin restaurants we have been to in the city, this one stands well above the crowd.

I didn’t get a picture of the bbq course because the smell sent me into a frenzy and I ate all of it before I could take a picture.

Thank you all for a wonderful experience.

We had the private dining experience tasting the Tour of Tuscany. We had 8 friends all indulging in a once in a lifetime experience to celebrate MANY occasions! Absolutely loved the whole experience from taking us down past the speakeasy to the private dining area with our own host and restrooms. They never once rushed us and Jessica honestly made the experience the best! I cannot speak highly enough of Jessica treating us like family and a long time friend while being so professional, intelligent, and sharing all the knowledge of the dishes! So much laughter and love in one room with the exquisite food and wine will be moments I will never forget. Thank you!

Quaint restaurant with a seasonal rotating four course menu with a great wine pairing to match.

We wanted to love this place but we weren't served our first course until over an hour after we sat down. It's also not ideal when your waiter at a one Michelin star restaurant comes by and asks "have you received your first course yet?" Our champagne was poured at least 20 minutes before the first course arrived. No one apologized for any delay even though it was obvious something was wrong.

After the first course things really picked up and we had no issues with courses coming every 10-15 min. I hate to belabor the point, but when you pay >$600 for dinner for three you expect everything to be perfect.

We sat down at 6:15p and left the restaurant at 8:30p, which seemed very long for only four courses.

The portions are a good size and everything we had was cooked nicely, but there are other options I'd like to try before returning here.

This was a fun and nice experience. We found their name under the Michelin guide and decided to try them over the weekend. We were a group of nine, and the service was phenomenal. The waitress was friendly and inviting. She took the time to explain the items on the menu, so you knew what you were ordering, and when you tried the food, it was exactly as she had described it. You could tell that she not only knew what the description of the food was, but that she actually tasted the food and enjoyed it. The Foie Gras was my favorite course of the night, but the other courses were just as great. You won't feel like you just crossed it off your list of things to do. You will be happy you came.
The dry aged steak is fabulous 🤤 and the oysters are fresh and juicy. Definitely a fine dining restaurant I will pay a visit for the second time.

If you’re someone who frequents michelin star restaurants, then this is another good one. If not, then prepare to have your mind blown with an exquisite dining experience! I loved how the full course involved different locations, including a view of the kitchen, until we were at our tables. We added the non-alcoholic pairing and were celebrating a birthday, and they gave us a card, hand signed by people working there and that was so sweet! My qualms, however, lay with the fact that the food was not as great I was hoping it would be. Quite a few of the dishes were a bit heavy on the ginger-y flavor, the wagyu was good but not great, and although some of the drinks complemented the food really well, others didn’t. Keep in mind though, that my expectations are really high from a place like this. Other than that, as usual, the service was impeccable, the ambience was great, the food was quite filling and I liked how everything was entirely pre-paid. Would definitely recommend people to try it out!

Really nice bar restaurant. Excellent food. Typical downtown pricing, not too bad. I felt you could dress casual or dress up. The service was excellent. This visit I just had a chopped salad. I know it's just a chopped salad but wow it was probably the best salad I ever had in my life! Kind of ridiculous to get this excited about a chopped salad but it really was THAT good. I'll be going back.

What can I say. This place delivered and then some. Yes, the food was extremely tasty and well presented, but what makes Alinea so special is the experience. One of the meals was in the kitchen and when we went back to our table the ambience had changed. The table deco and music had changed. The servers were super attentive and friendly, and the dessert presentation was quite the spectacle. Eating here will cost a pretty penny for sure, but it's a great experience when in Chicago. Happy to return.

Tried their Tuscany menu with absolutely no complaints. Gave me a tour of the kitchen at the end of the night it’s completely spotless with top of the line equipment and chefs. Grew up with my grandmother who is an Italian chef from Avallino. She studied the Tuscan region extensively and I can say without a doubt the food compares if it is not better than what she has cooked for me. 10/10 would recommend trying their Tuscany menu before it goes for good.

Next was an elevated tasting experience that wasn’t pretentious. The Tuscany menu delighted the pallet, especially the raviolo and the wagyu short rib. We got the shortened menu, and it was perfect - we still left satisfied. Going later in the evening is a great way to save on the price too.

We couldn’t wait for the “next” course, and will definitely come back the next time we visit Chicago.

Service was impeccable. This menu doesn’t accommodate gluten allergies, which was fine for us, but limited our ability to bring our friends here. We opted for North Pond for our time with them, which is also a great place.

Great Happy Hour 🍷

We stopped by here after a long day at the merchandise mart as we heard the wine pours were heavy.

Indeed they are and the happy hour prices can’t be beat.

Classic steakhouse setting with great service.

If you are looking for a posh atmosphere they deliver. They have a great vibe.

The food is definitely disappointing given the price. I ordered the signature sushi roll ocean prime, a lobster tail and a French onion soup.

I had to wait a significant amount of time for refills and my food. This was odd given it was not busy.

Only qualm was Menu. It felt too “safe” and featured too many sweets IMO. None of the dishes were particularly surprising/creative/inspiring - nothing blew me away. It lacked the “wow” factor you expect from a restaurant of this caliber.

This isn’t a restaurant I’d be quick to revisit versus, say, Ever.

Besides that, the overall experience was as expected and I very much enjoyed the wine pairing, service, and ambience.
This place was not where we were originally going, but it was an amazing alternative. The ambiance was just beautiful. The presentation of the cuts of meat was very informative. The service was impeccable. It was an amazing experience. I love how they took my coat at the table and hung it up for me, I felt right at home.

We were at Alinea was to celebrate my twin daughters’ birthday. We had the 14 course meal with wine paring. The wine was paired nicely with the food.
When we were making the reservation the requirements was that we have to come in pairs so we had to reserved for 4 people hoping that we could all make it. My husband couldn’t come so we had 4 portions food for 3 people.
The food was very well presented. Thoughtful in many details and taste great! Not all the dishes were to our liking but we enjoyed most of them. The service was excellent. Everyone was nice and friendly. We had such a good time. Although it was a lot of money for one meal, we say it is worth it!

Love this location and it seems to get better every time we visit. The staff and food are always such a delight. The wine is fun and perfectly paired. The seafood is elevated and the ingredients are top notch. This visit we were impressed by how each course seemed to be better than the last while we were simultaneously getting more and more full! We love Temporis and love to celebrate with them as often as we're able.

Truly incredible! Celebrated my birthday here and it was absolutely perfect, from the food and wine to the atmosphere to the service. It felt intimate and personal. The flavors of each course were so unique yet familiar in the best way, and there was truly not a single course I didn’t love. Would be happy to return in the future to celebrate occasions again!

Alinea was an experience like I’ve never had before and days later while writing this review I am still blown away. Our party ate in The Gallery (16 courses) and you will not leave hungry—coming from someone who eats a lot. I’ve noticed some complaints about the wine pours too and I would have to disagree. They were pretty generous pours for a tasting—keyword: it’s a *tasting*. At the end of the meal it was probably around 5 glasses of wine if you add it all up.

Anyone considering Alinea knows the price point is high. I was hesitant about spending so much money but I can safely say that it is worth it. I would do it again for a very special occasion simply because the experience was so special. I think the shorter course meal will have you leaving hungry so I can see why some were not happy with the wine pours and the portions. If you can afford it I would recommend The Gallery.

Service: Nobody in our party knew what to expect. With it being fine dining and 3 Michelin stars we expected very formal service and it was very much the opposite. Everyone from the hostess to the people in the kitchen were warm and friendly and are clearly very good at what they do. They anticipate your needs and do everything in such a genuine way. Many of them would hold conversations with our party past the usual pleasantries which made the experience even better.

Food: I’m surprised to read some reviewers found the food bland. It was anything but that. There were flavors and textures that were confusing in a good way. Some dishes were familiar with a new twist and others were brand new to me, but what makes them stand out is the execution which was flawless for every course. Nothing was too rich or overpowering. Some dishes had me laughing in disbelief by how good it was.

Atmosphere: As I mentioned, the service here is as good as it gets. They really make you feel comfortable throughout your time in the restaurant. The decor and dining room was nice. Nothing gaudy or over-the-top. Alinea adjusts the atmosphere throughout the meal with change in lighting, aromas, sounds, etc. Again tapping into all of your senses during the experience.

Everyone in our party agreed that at times it was difficult to hear the servers while they were introducing the dish and explaining how to eat it. I just think it was a lack of projecting their voice but it didn’t take away from the experience at all.

You have to approach Next as an experience. It will make the ticket prices easier to swallow. The experience is one that will involve all your senses (sight, sound, aroma, taste, mouthfeel, and even time) as well as your relationship with your dining companions. You have to enter with an open mind, but the dishes are not as experimental as their sister restaurant Alinea. Each dish comes with a presentation by the server describing the dish's ingredients as well as the chef's inspiration, what the chef is trying to convey to the diner, experience wise, and a suggestion on how to best enjoy the dish. I suggest you taste each part individually (sauces, dish components) before mixing the components together. Don't forget to drink your beverage of choice (there is typically a non-alcoholic pairing, standard wine, and reserve wine pairing). The beverage is also part of the course. Take each course one at a time and discuss what you like and dislike, what works, and what didn't. As I mentioned before, your choice of dinner companion(s) makes a big difference here. If you go with someone with a limited palate or one that doesn'tmatch your own, you will find yourself not enjoying your experience or not enjoying your relationship. Not every course will work. I've had some terrible courses and foods that just did not work (like fried maple leaves in the Kyoto menu). But overall, we always look forward to the future season menu. The menu changes 3-4 times a year and is always based on an inspirational theme or locale. The service is top notch from the time you purchase your tickets to when you are handed your keys from the valet. They do keep a file of each diner and any food allergies. We joke that ours says, "They eat slowly" but hey, if I'm spending this much money, I want my experience to last.

It was worth it.

My wife and I went there for our anniversary. We tasted the tasting menu (95 dollars per person) - 2 appetizers, 1 entree, and a dessert. Everything was so flavorful. The highlight for me was sea urchin, duck, short rib, foie gras, and barbecue pork collar. Presentation was great, tasted delicious. However, I have tasted better desserts in other places.

We spent about 295 dollars before tip (tasting menu for 2, 4 cocktails, 3% surcharge). The cocktails were fantastic.

We will definitely come back here.

Had a an amazing evening with my party of 5 and was impressed at the 4-course meal at Sepia (we opted for the +2-course add-on). The quality of the food was outstanding and the service was spot-on. The price was much more reasonable than other comparable Michelin-star establishments and am happy to return.

The main strengths are 1) the tasty, flavorful food (be it the caviar starter or the halibut main or the raspberry mocktail, every single course was super tasty!), and the ambience (super very welcoming and we had a pretty secluded comfortable area for our group).

Overall, great value for money, I am happy to return to this fine establishment anytime and commend the staff on a great job.

A fantastic overall dining experience from start to finish. Every dish was fantastically prepared, beautifully presented, and meticulously explained - basically all that you would expect of a 2 star place. The restaurant was also kind to cater to my shellfish allergy. For drinks, I went with the non-alcoholic pairing which was really good.

Service was absolutely top notch.

A definite recommendation for people visiting or residing in Chicago area

Fantastic service and food, almost everything hit the mark from what I would expect of a place like this.

Service was attentive without feeling overbearing, always there right when I needed them or sometimes just before.

Excellent wine and cocktails to pair with your courses. If you can't get a table just a seat at the bar for one of the cocktails would be worth going out of your way for.

All of the food was well presented and of very high quality. Portions were good and large enough to share a tasting bite with a partner.

Decor and atmosphere have a nice late 19th century feel to them. Lighting was dim but not so much as to impede reading the menu. My only complaint would be the tables, which have a sort of semi cushioned top that felt like I was in danger of toppling the water glass, but this was minor and didn't detract from the overall experience.

Would definitely come back, if to just try more of the cocktail menu.

Great experience. The wine pairing was great, I love when they use different types of drinks and not just wine. The dishes were all good, although a number of them were surprisingly really salty. I’d say in general great ingredients and some surprise. I wonder if a real chocolate dessert is sort of mandatory and they missed the mark there. In general good restaurant, a bit too salty, way too pricey :) (but I don’t rank based on price)

Sepia is an exquisite restaurant that offers a memorable dining experience. The staff was attentive and courteous, and they made us feel special by acknowledging our move as per our OpenTable notes. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful, and she even shared some of her favorite places near our new home with us after our meal. The food was outstanding and full of flavors. We enjoyed trying new dishes and ingredients that we had never tasted before. The food transported us to a different world and we will be raving about it for a long time.

One more huge shout out to Erin. Best server we’ve had in a long time.

We stumbled upon this restaurant by word of mouth and I can certainly say the food here ranks among the best meal I’ve had all year. Maybe one of the best tasting dinners I’ve ever had. The quality of the ingredients and execution on every single dish was absolutely delicious and incredible. Hats off to Chef Troy and the entire staff for a dinner we’ll never forget. For every foodie out there reading this and visiting Chicago to dine at the well known establishments, this restaurant cannot be missed. Coming from someone who has dined twice at Alinea, the quality / taste of the meal at Temporis easily wins.

Amazing food, the steak was perfect, potatoes were creamy, that pork belly appetizer was so good, there just no words for it! The service was some of the best I've seen in a while. We had a large group, and nobody's drink stayed empty, and the timing of the food (appetizer to the salad to the main course) was seamless. It's a bit on the upper end of the dining and slightly pricey, but it's worth every penny. Will definitely recommend it to anyone, and it is a must-have when I'm in town.

I definitely recommend their House-made pasta!! My husband and I loved our choices: both were very different (Spaghetti more citrus, remembers lemon pepper and Squid Ink Linguini more spicy)
We commented that we would return to eat both again!
The place is very beautiful, there is a cool song playing, and our food arrived fast.
We didn’t order neither cocktails or desserts because we were planning to go to Eataly and eat their ice cream (check out this place too! It’s amazing!)

Only one negative point: they mention gluten free pasta availability in their menu, but this is NOT the House-made pasta, it’s a normal penne that you can eat instead of their House-made pasta.. In my opinion it just worth if you are celiac, otherwise, enjoy their pasta!!

Bigger then expected. Big bar, nice vibe inside. Simple outdoor seating. More concentrated inside but either would work. First floor access. Food was good, service was good. Would go back. Menu simple but mixture of dishes, and good dessert. Spaghetti was great.
Outstanding value for the food. Started the night out with cocktails which were expertly fashioned. The 4 course menus with the wine pairing was so delicious. The staff were all very knowledgeable and attentive. Can't recommend Sepia enough.

Calamari was pretty good. A bit too much peppers for my liking though.

The filet mignon was tender but flavourless.

Mashed potatoes were delicious. Asparagus was bland and burnt.

I personally am not willing to spend $200+ again to eat here.

This was a great place and I had the blast trying foods that were a play on how they were prepared. The wait staff was amazing and super friendly. The food was very good and we came out full. Some of the dishes shined more than others but each dish was unique and took lots of preparation. From beginning to end everything was well thought out and the menu took you on a journey that not only lasted in the restaurant but also the whole night. Oriole was the BEST date I’ve ever been on! From the minute we were greeted by Maggie with fragrant chrysanthemum tea, I knew I was in a special place. Jason was behind the magical door when we first walked in, and he graciously led us to the bar to begin our fabulous adventure with Jake. The first tastings set a lovely tone, and the unique liquor brands behind the bar were a great conversation starter. My favorite course was the foie gras brioche which left a glittery residue on my finger tips. Watching the chefs work in their native environment was a wonderful treat. Next, Daniel greeted us with his mischievous Ricky Gervais smile where our 5th anniversary dinner truly began. When we sat down, a cute card signed by the staff faced us, and of course the mini table for my clutch followed me from the kitchen so that I was perfectly comfortable and at ease. Ian and Daniel connected with us in their own unique ways, and I was so thankful for their easy going conversational anecdotes as they led us through each course. Ian reminded me that each person tastes wine differently and Daniel laughed appreciatively when I told him his favorite course: the capellini & Barbaresco pairing tasted like kvass from Eastern Europe. Aaron brought a vast knowledge of wine with a couple of jokes to keep the high caliber of the setting feel effortless and fun. We ended the night with a couple more signatures on our Oriole card sanctioned by Jason. Both Daniel & Jason made us feel like high profile guests as they recounted stories and took selfies while they led us back to Maggie where our journey began.

A huge thank you to Oriole and the staff for helping Jeremy take me out on the best date ever. We can’t wait to come back some day, and in the meantime we will tell all of our friends what a great time we had!

Had a really great lunch at Siena Tavern last week.

Food was mostly winner after winner. I started with the Octopus which is maybe the best dish I had on my trip. At least up there. Stunning to eat and to look at.

My wife had the coccoli which were beautiful. Hard to go wrong with prosciutto.

I followed that with the gnocchi which was awesome. My wife had the mushroom and truffle pizza which was also great.

The one big let down were the bomboloni for dessert. Super dense and just not great. I mean, they're fine. It's fried dough, it's going to be fine, but we were not impressed. Of the sauces that came with it only the caramel was great though my wife liked the chocolate more than I did.

Drinks were excellent. My #4 was a winner and my wife loved her espresso martini.

Decor was great. Service a bit weird. Very friendly and helpful but not overly present including when drinks got low. Also started out by asking about our familiarity with Top Chef and if we knew who Fabio was. When we said we did we got a bit of a spiel about his time on the show and how great he is.

Which was weird, especially when we'd just said we knew. We watch the show. Knowing him is part of why we were there, and it was near our hotel and made a convenient lunch. I don't mind it being acknowledged, but the little spiel felt awkward. Not a huge deal. It didn't go on that long or anything, but an awkward start to the visit.

Absolutely phenomenal experience - instantly one of the best meals we've ever had. Everything about our experience made us feel like Noah and the team were welcoming us into their home. The decor and furniture were warm and inviting. The provided amenities in the restrooms help carry that welcoming nature all the way through your time here. The staff was friendly and instinctively moved to help guide you through the space. Every dish was delightful, and the pacing was comfortable. The movement at the beginning of the meal was novel and a great way for guests to spend some time in each space instead of wondering what they missed out on following their meal. As a person who doesn't tend to like foie gras, I must admit that the foie gras dish we were served here was the best use of the ingredient I have ever had. If you're taking a trip to Chicago specifically for the food scene like we were, Oriole is a must-go destination.

Honest review, came with my family, table for 10 on Mother’s day. My family had a great time. The hospitality and experience was 10/10. I made a specialty pasta 🔥smokey old fashioned was great. I didn’t try the pizza but the kids didn’t like it lol. My sister had a hair baked into her lasagna. Fortunately she didn’t eat too much, another was brought out, the waitress and manager handled it professionally and were accommodating. Our waitress made the experience pleasant. Con: Parking on a busy day there is no valet. Otherwise would recommend.

04/20/2023. This restaurant was amazing. We spent over $500 a person, and I wouldn’t of traded the experience. Some of these flavors were incredible, and really made you open up your pallet and think about all of the different types of flavors it is opening. I do recommend the reserve drink paring. I definitely think it was worth the $300. The environment was amazing, all of the staff members were nice, which made the experience even better. They were knowledgeable about everything they brought out, which I really I appreciated. One of my favorite part about this experience was that we went to four different rooms in total. When he first walked in, it was like a speakeasy, kind of hidden. Then we were brought inside and officially started off at the bar, ended up in the kitchen, and then finally the dining room. There were three dishes that stood out to me the most, the second course, was incredible with five different flavors, and as you chewed, the flavors started to change, incredible! I had three favorite alcohols on the reserve tasting. The first, second, and the riesling wine, also one of the red wines was excellent. They did amazing appearing the food with the drinks.
