Nice pub with log fires burning and cosy layout but the staff weren't very attentive and service definitely wasn't with a smile. My food was ok (belly pork roast), but my fiancée's beef was nice. The roast potatoes were tough and had probably been left standing for a long time. Not good enough for the money unfortunately (£20 plus for a roast) so we won't be returning in a hurry.

We are frequent visitors to The Anchor, and never had any issues with the food or the service. Last night, we were seated immediately after our arrival. We didn't have to wait at all to be greeted. There wasn't any fillet steak or burgers, which are usually my go-to dishes. However, the chicken burger was superb. The service was fast; our drinks arrived within a few minutes of us ordering them, and we didn't have to wait long for the food. The restaurant area always looks pristine, beautifully decorated, with the tables laid ready for guests. We have never had to look at dirty tables after diners vacate as the staff are quick to clear them. Overall, it was a delightful experience, and we are more than happy to book again.

We had a lovely lunch here today. Food was fantastic quality and staff really welcoming and helpful. The lunch menu is great value and I like that they have smaller dessert options available. Very well furnished and relaxing atmosphere. We were not rushed to place our order or for the table to be turned over quickly. We were able to relax with a drink first and courses were not rushed out onto the table. There's not many places we will stay for desserts/hot drinks afterwards but here we felt more than comfortable to spend the afternoon.

Amazing service roast chicken dinner was absolutely amazing. Had trio of deserts too which was fabulous! Would highly recommend this pub/ restaurant and also lots of choice on a Sunday should you not fancy a roast.

Recently I arranged a reunion get together meal at the Anchor Inn, in Irby. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating despite our group's size. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed their meals and drinks. It was the perfect venue for us. We didn't feel rushed , instead felt able to relax in the restaurant. Special thanks to Pete and Georgia for their great service and patience.

Food is incredible , amazing service my favourite place on the Wirral, would highly recommend passion fruit martini, fillet steak and truffle cheese doughnuts, service is amazing will definitely be back!!! I’ve also tried the fish and chips which is equally amazing, really good quality food

Our gorgeous little local! We are so lucky to have it in our community. The staff are so lovely and always make sure we are well looked after. Been visiting for 20+ years and in my opinion it is the best it has ever been in terms of service, management, quality and staff.

Expected this place to be rammo on Good Friday but it was quite pleasant.

Can't speak highly enough of the staff, who were super attentive to one of our party that has sadly got full house in allergy bingo. The staff checked with them, advised on food choices, and even came back to apologise when they forgot to mention something. You don't often get that level of care and attention in the world of pub grub, and it makes a big difference.

Food itself was excellent. Recommend the apple pie crumble, and I'm not usually a dessert kinda guy.

We came here last week for one of our staffs birthday. Great food and atmosphere. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Great place for a Sunday lunch. Really nice and attentive service, great value for money and really enjoyed the food too. Only improvement I'd suggest is make sure you serve on hot plates, makes such a difference.

What a fabulous night on 2 march. Three birthdays to celebrate. Staff were absolutely amazing friendly very informative about the menu and wine. There were 16 of us at the celebration and everyone was so impressed we had never been to the three stag’s before. We will certainly be going back. The venue itself was very pleasant and so homely. Thank you to each and everyone of you especially our lovely server Nicola. 🥰

Food and service brilliant. The new lad behind the bar was friendly and efficient even whilst training. Our waitress was lovely, didn't catch her name dark hair and glasses. My mum had a lovely birthday here. Great choice of food for children too.

We come here often. Great local pub. Dependable food. Staff are amazing. Recently retained top marks for cleanliness etc - not surprising given the cleaner is a local legend! Would definitely recommend. Try out quiz night on a Wednesday.

Just been for a Birthday lunch with my Husband and we both really enjoyed ourselves. The pub was busy as they had a funeral party in. The staff were very helpful and friendly despite being raced off their feet.
We went for the 3 course set price meal which was fantastic value for money and plenty of choice. We’ll definitely come again.

Birthday meal at a lovely little gastro pub. The food was delicious as always. Usually a place as a treat for a special occasion. We asked to be sat by the fire as it's lovely and cosy at this time of year, and sadly, only one fire was lit, and the fire by us was not lit. The service was great and the food was almost perfect. There was an item missing off the plate with the steak that wasn't mentioned and when asked about just told, there wasn't any, which could maybe have been substituted. Hence the 4 stars. That being said the steak was beautiful and my wife said the seabass was delicious. The desserts, a chocolate bomb and a berry pavlova, pricey, and very decadent. Yummy.
