This is a lovely botanical gardens with a lot of international plants and trees for a gardens with a smallish land area … it is beautifully laid out with paths, some steps as it’s on a slight slope and hothouses for the delicate tropical plants … entry is free… the bonus is the cafe that is in the grounds … it’s a small kiosk however provides a reasonably sized drinks and food menu and biscuits/cakes .. plus the large areas around it with tables, chairs and some umbrellas under the trees and amongst the plants… a lovely calm green space in a large city ..
One of the most lovely botanical gardens I've ever been to. Absolutely unconventional given its many terraced levels and the almost wild character of it. Free entrance, connected to the river, places where people can simply lie down and enjoy the sun and each other, this is what communal spaces should be about
Another free place to visit spent ages in here walking around the many variety of plants. Loved it here
So many wonderful and beautiful plants it was just an amazing place to walk through and you can also go swimming in the river Aare should you choose to
The botanical garden is beautiful and well organised.
The entrance is free of charge, but the greenhouses has openings hours.
I've been there in June so most of the plants were blooming or just finished.
There is a little café bar inside and there are a lot of chairs and benches to sit and rest outside amid the green, but also inside the greenhouses.
Very beautiful botanical garden, free access and you can visit anytime
Steps from bridge and river and elsewhere.
Layered levels with water features, cafe with seating at various levels down to the river where swimmers were observed.
Toilets near cafè.
Quite different to other botanical gardens I've been to, in that it's not extensive grounds with big trees. But it has a huge variety of herbs and plants, all labelled. And there's also a green house there. I really enjoyed it - you can meander down the terraces of plants all the way to the river. I then walked to the Bern Rose garden along the river, which was just sparkling in the sun!
