Wonderful museum. Is free and located inside the erieview mall. Only open Wednesday to Friday from 11am-3pm has a small gift shop in front of museum with everything handmade from local Hungarians. Great place to spend an hour and learn about a culture and their traditions.
Loved the history in here and the friendly people that worked there! Great experience!
What a pleasant surprise! We visited for the first time today. Such a good variety of pieces of history with very helpful and knowledgeable staff.
Lots of very authentic displays.
This museum is located inside the mall. It is across from the YMCA. The volunteers were very welcoming. They were speaking Hungarian when we walked in. It is free. There is a donation box past the gift shop area next to the sign in book. There is also a small reference library in the back.
A special cultural addition to the mall, rich for it's size, fascinating cultural heritage any American with Hungarian roots could appreciate. The wonderful staff of Hungarian women were absolutely delighted to speak with me and discuss some of my own family heritage, even reading a 90 year old Hungarian letter from my great grandparents. In short, I felt welcomed as family here. A warm hearted place indeed.
It ain't the Smithsonian but it's a neat little place. Lot's of local history. Be sure to grab a calendar. Days and hours are limited so check ahead of time.
It is a small museum but what they have is worth going to see. The staff did a great job of going over everything.
The Museum has items that have been donated buy citizens from White County. The building that it's in used to be a city courthouse I believe that it was built back in the mid-1800s. Next time you visit, this is a must-see if you're interested in history.
What a great surprise to find in a shopping mall. I'm not Hungarian but it was a fabulous display of culture, artifacts and history. I would really recommend everyone going.
The only Heritage Museum in a Mall. Worth a stop, just for that. Oh and it helps to be Hungarian, too.
