Outstanding customer service. I called wondering if my order would be here by Christmas, even though the kind woman on the phone couldn’t guarantee my order would be here, she did the best she could do talk me through my holiday stress shopping and after asking what she would do if she were me, I placed my order in hopes it will be here by the holiday. I received my confirmation email and not even 20 minutes later received notice that my order was shipped out. Even if my order doesn’t get here by Christmas, I know that Philadelphia Independents does their best to make their customers, like me, happy:) Thank you very much for your kindness and humanity. This is my go-to place for gifts for loved ones! I’ve gotten multiple candles here and every single person I’ve given them to says they loved it. They support and sell small artists work, so I love knowing I’m supporting small businesses by purchasing items here.

I didn't enjoy my shopping experience there, albeit their cute inventory. We were monitored the whole time (they were just watching us without talking), and were even denied opening and seeing a tea towel's full pattern when we asked. We were very polite and respectful during our short visit (and we DID purchase things from them at the end), so their hostility and unwelcoming attitude might very much be racially charged. We did not do anything—other than existing—to deserve that kind of treatment. As a person of color, I didn't feel safe at Philadelphia Independents and would not recommend any minority groups to go.

Came in with my toddler and husband to get a Philly shirt on a nice day- no other customers, we were not being loud or irritating in anyway that I can reflect on but there was no greeting or even smile from the woman working- I complimented her store and she mumbled something to me, I bought a shirt and left feeling really uncomfortable and unwelcome. Now reading the reviews I’m not sure why it’s so difficult for her to pretend to be nice to customers over the years unless she wants her signature to be being known as the ‘rude gift shop lady?’ I felt bad that day and brushed it off thinking maybe she was having personal issues but seems to be a pattern! Too bad.

Great place for gifts! We weren't having much luck finding any presents for family members, and stumbled on this place purely by chance. Got some lovely ornaments, trinkets, and desk-toppers.

I love this boutique. There is a nice variety of merchandise. It is unique and affordable. Emilia, the manager, is very kind and helpful.

Unique finds that are fairly sourced. I really love it because the prices are within reach for me and probably most people, especially considering how beautiful the pieces are. Staff is knowledgeable and willing to help, plus the store is kept up incredibly well and always clean

I didn't buy anything, but I took a card so I could come back after all my holiday gift exchanges are over! Great selection and very unique pieces. Sometimes boutiques feel very much the same after you go to a couple in a new city. This one had a similar vibe to others but I felt like it was entirely unique and seemingly well crafted items. Looking forward to going to purchasing a few earrings!

This place has great stuff! Some very creative interpretations of classic and modern Philadelphia icons on quality merch. The downside is that the lady who runs it is really kind of rude. The uniqueness of their offerings definitely makes it worth dealing with it though. Would have been a solid 5 stars, but the interaction with the lady behind the counter was less than desirable. Again though, they have unique, high quality inventory that is worth your business. 😉

Great store full of terrific housewares, jewelry, and wonderful gift-worthy Fair Trade items. Staff are very knowledgeable and friendly! Super spot for finding the perfect decor piece for your home or something really special for birthdays, Christmas, graduation, etc!

One of my favorite boutiques to shop small in Philly. Owner is friendly and provides quality service to all customers. I bought a bag, removed the tag, and needed to exchange it. Owner was amiable and let me exchange it anyways. Great products and amazing atmosphere!

Nice eclectic selection of artisan crafts and philadelphia themed souvenirs. A bit pricey, but some unique pieces great for gift- giving.

The SPACE is my favorite store. It's stunning and carries a wide range of beautiful photography and hand made art, jewelry, bags, housewares and more. Whether I'm shopping for gifts or a treat for myself, I always find something (well, usually more than one). There are lots of price points. In fact, I bought a friend a $36 bracelet that says "joy" as a retirement gift. She told me last week it's now her favorite possession.

The owners are very knowledgeable, fun to chat with, and have impeccable taste. They've created a true jewel in Queen Village. I believe they are open Wednesday - Friday evenings and Saturdays.

Some really nice and unique items. I wonder if they have a huge problem with theft because I was followed around the store the entire time which made me feel uncomfortable. If I wasn’t followed I would have rated higher.

Superfun store stocked with great finds all from local Philly designers. Run by women who are equally fun and fascinating. Required stop for any gifting needs.

This store features fair trade fashion, jewelry, home accessories, furniture, instruments, and crafts from around the world that are funky, fun and functional. The staff is one of the world's coolest.
N.B: The Walnut Street store has moved to the Northeast corner of Walnut and Juniper.

I stumbled upon this great retailer literally days after they reopened at this location.

The woman running the shop was kind enough to explain the concept behind Ten Thousand Villages and the global communities that benefit from it.

I absolutely LOVE this boutique in Center City Philadelphia. Normally I can't make it downtown due to work and life etc., so I recently messaged the shop in Instagram regarding necklaces I was interested in. The owner/management (I think her name is Anastasia but I am actually not quite sure if her title either) was so quick to direct message me and provide all of the information she could regarding the jewelry I was interested in as well as send me some photos of other necklaces she thought I may like based on the style I described that I liked. She was able to send me an invoice via email and I am looking forward to receiving my purchases in the mail. Long story short...the customer service at this shop is absolutely SPECTACULAR and I love to shop local when I can to support small businesses. I HIGHLY recommend shopping at this store and supporting downtown Philly local businesses. THANK YOU :)!!!
