When I was a kid we lived down the street from the York Cenotaph at 2677A Eglinton Ave West and this was back when you got the day off of school to attend the remembrance ceremonies which my brothers and I always did. The attendance by WW1 and WW2 veterans and the formal ceremony of the laying of the wreaths (which would remain for several weeks afterwards) and pipe and drum band plus the reading of "Flanders Fields" always made us feel the loss and sacrifice that those being commemorated had made. Beside the cenotaph is York Memorial High School which was built to help deal with the great loss that survivors were struggling with. I hope that memorial lasts forever given the symbolic importance of its meaning.
A lovely cenotaph with a moving inscription.

Beautiful place for reflection
Got my 2nd covid-19 shot by North York General at Seneca College.
I was at Seneca College's Newnham Campus for the vaccination clinic, run through NYGH. Very well organized, parking is free in front of the sports complex. Enter no earlier than 10 mins. Before your scheduled appointment. Shots are very quick and essentially painless. Was happily surprised. Was in and out within 30 mins.
Nice place to go to for a walk, run, or of course visiting passed relatives
That's a nice campus with multiple equipment and student friendly mentors.

so good
Very calming atmosphere though I am concerned the parents of small children are missing the point of the reverence associated with a Cenotaph. Even if the parks are closed for COVID this is not a jungle gym. Give your head a shake!
With this sculpture, the Ontario Government has honoured those who have fallen in the line of duty while serving in the province’s correctional services. It recognizes the contribution correctional services staff make to Ontario’s justice system.

The monument, entitled "Hours of the Day", is a sculpture designed by Paul Raff Studios that is anchored between two granite benches. It signifies the passage of time, capturing the hours that correctional services staff work in the service of others.
Family friendly park
Great campus. Can get busy during the rush but overall fun and some great places to study.
