Mountain Heights Academy got my son through high school. They not only "got him through" but thoroughly prepared him for his next step. I so appreciate the principal allowing him to transfer in under extenuating circumstances and especially the special education department (he had an IEP) and teachers for taking him under their wing, figuring out his needs, and helping him learn how to communicate and stay on track, not getting behind. Also appreciate the counseling department who helped him learn about his adult options (school, work, etc). We appreciated the variety of classes offered as well as the way they were offered. For my son, who much prefers being outdoors than indoors, Mountain Heights was a great solution. I really can't say enough about how impressed I was with the counselor who meet with him regularly to explore his options, really taking time to help him figure out what he wants to do after high school and then teaching him how to do it, how to reach out and contact people, what the next steps are. He went in as a reluctant, quiet student who was just trying to fly under the radar to survive but has emerged confident in moving forward, confident in his choices, steady and grounded, knowing how to advocate for himself and feeling hopeful about his future. It's a wonderful thing to see and such a relief as a parent to have that kind of care and support from a team of administration, teachers, counseling, and special education. Thank you so much!
My daughter attended Mountain Heights Academy for the past year in order to take an additional class that didn't fit into her schedule at her local high school. Her teacher has been awesome. The counselor really worked with her schedule, and helped her get late extensions when needed. This has been a great experience for our family.
Just finished up the first year for our son (10th grade). As a parent, I loved how structured and set up everything is ~ you can see the entire term the first day. The flexibility was great, my son would sleep in, then often do all the work for one or two classes in a day and be done with those for the week (then he'd procrastinate and scramble on Friday). I was so impressed with the staff, from counselors to teachers. I liked the feedback and ability to talk with teachers easily, and they were so willing to work with us when my son needed some extra help.
My 10th grader goes here and calling it an online school doesn’t do it justice. Amazing school and amazing team of educators and counselors who are intelligent, compassionate, and dedicated to teaching. If you are on the fence or looking for the right place to send your child I would have no hesitation saying this is the place and they are the team that will ensure your son/daughter have a great experience. The technology is impressive as well - I’ve seen online college classes far less organized or involved as Mountain Height’s classes. Thanks everyone!
Teachers and administrators who don’t care are the norm at this school. It reveals itself in the numbers of students who participate in AP classes (perhaps because the AP teachers aren’t that good) and also in the numbers of students who pass AP exams—all below the state average. The ACT scores at West Jordan are also below the state average. These kids don’t get college preparation. All they get is entertainment and babysitting, at a high cost.
My daughter is graduating tonight and my wife and I, along with hundreds of other people were turned away at the door. I’ve never heard of such a thing. I graduated from a high school in Portland Oregon that was similar in size to Copperhills and guess what they did, they gave each student a specific number of tickets so at least their immediate family members could see them graduate. This is not rocket science people. The Maverick center has 12,600 seats. My understanding is that Copperhills graduating class has somewhere around 1000 students. That means that each student could have 12 family members come to see them graduate and there would still be tickets to spare. How is it possible that I’m not sitting in a seat watching my daughter graduate. I feel like I’ve had something stolen from me that I can never get back. I’ll let the administrators of Copperhills know when she gets married, maybe they can destroy that day too. Nice work CHS, inexcusable!!!!!
I am a junior early graduate and I throughout my journey of trying to graduate early I have had administration and counselors and even my Vice principal tell me “I was incapable and it’s possible but many can’t do it” not ever did they support me and tell me I can do it they always tried to turn the idea down, although I was determined... This 5 star review goes out to Lori in the Counciling center, she has always been so kind and so helpful into what I have wanted to do, she helped me throughout this whole process there was some days when she sent me off to get papers approved and I showed up at her desk at least 5 times because people turned me away. She made sure I got everything done, she made sure I got everything signed and finished. She is wonderful! And she is one of the only people in this school who made me feel like I actually could do it. Yes I did get congratulated by all the rest of the staff at the end of the year but throughout the process they were not very helpful. So I thank Lori very much for everything she’s done!
I have to give some respect to the West Jordan Basketball Team! Once a year for the last 16 years they put on a special needs basketball clinic for the special kids in the district. My daughter Shaye loves it. I know everyone involved loves it, it's amazing! Much love for the Cheerleaders, SBO's and any students involved in this great event!
Copper canyon is a wonderful school with amazing teachers, who go out of their way to help your student. It is a clean safe environment. I have two kids who go here who absoulutely love it. I have yet to not like a teacher at this school. If there is a problem and you actually talk to the teachers, they are always willing to help. I have one kid with some medical issues and the teachers and office staff are on top of her meds and keep a close eye on her throughout the day, making it so much easier on me to let her go to school. The resource department is absoulutely the best! We love this school!
They have the best counselor there named Kim Walters. She is super nice and does such a good job in helping you with whatever your going through and with your shedule
Hi there are a couple of the day of your life and that any dissemination distribution of or reliance based upon your return we can go to bed early last it will run it past few weeks ago but have not heard anything yet to hear
Working at copperhills for fourteen years was what l took prod in So when l was told l have cancer was the end of all l worked for. I did bet my cancer after six months of chemo and radiation l bounced back then a year and a half mass blood clots in my lungs. I bounced back again then pneumonia and again back in the hospital for six days. But each time l went back to work after Dr. Release and as time went on l could see l was not wanted at copperhills. As l saw a lot of employees getting fired l soon was on the chopping block as l was pushed into long term disability and told l will get disability until 2027 no it was a year and a half then canncled. So l found myself without disability, no job, and divorced. But to count on copperhills or jorden school distric it was as if l did not matter.
West Jordan High School is an amazing School I Am a senior this year and I can honestly say I will miss it will all my heart when I graduate. I Am Proud To Be A Jaguar! WJHS is Such a good place to learn!!
My elementary school. Felt more like family than school.
There are also so very kind and hard working teachers here.
They seem to be on top of the newest learning skills. But, I find that their dealings with certain situations to be hectic and scattered. As if one hand doesn't know what the other is doing.
I went there the year they opened and the next year for my senior year. My favorite school ever! My ASL teacher, Ms. Bolton, was the best teacher I've ever Had!
I spent all my high school years here and I loved it. An especially huge shout out must go to the band program - that's where my fondest memories were made.
My daughter loved her teachers and the flexibility of Mountain Heights Academy. She actually likes math this year, which is amazing! Her math teacher has really explained the concepts in a way that my daughter understands and she has much more confidence in her math skills now.

The parent notifications about grades and time worked on each subject are very helpful.
I was at my wits end on what I could do to help my son be successful in school and not be bullied or targeted while doing it. I found Mountain Heights Academy by way of a friend and enrolling my son in this school was by far the best thing I could have done.
The teachers and administration are great to work with, very helpful and focus on doing what is best for my son. The teachers go above and beyond to make sure that his successes are often and they celebrate even the smallest of accomplishments.
I could not be more happy with an online program as I was with this school, and recommend it to anyone who needs something different for their children than traditional brick and mortar schools.
You can not go wrong with this school, the staff or the administration.
What a fantastic staff! There's hardly a single teacher in this school who won't help you or who doesn't care for your well-being. The opportunities are close to limitless with the diverse number of clubs, AP, and concurrent classes.
Staff is friendly and building is clean.
I have never been to a more disrespectful school. Came here to watch a cheer competition my sister was participating in and the CHHS cheerleaders were absolutely unprofessional and flat out rude. I was trying to get around one and accidentally bumped into her and her snotty response, "Yeah excuse you!" Furthermore, one of the guys in charge of the door shut in on a little girl's foot and she was screaming and he acted like it was her problem. Real classy Copper Hills. Real classy.
I went to this school for all 3 years of high school. The science and math department suck. And the administration treat the students like a joke, with no respect. I can honestly say I am happy to have graduated, but not from this school.
Horrible over crowded school! The Principal is unhelpful and always thinks she is right. There are some rude teachers here.
It's an awesome school
I loved Mountain Heights Academy, the staff is ALWAYS so helpful and the teachers REALLY care and are so engaged with my son and respond SO quickly to everything he needs. We have been with them for all four years of high school and we couldn't have dreamed of a better experience. There are activities and parties and service opportunities for the kids as well as one on one help in their school work. The courses are all fun, interactive, and highly informative and interesting, the assignments have purpose and keep my kiddo engaged in his own learning. I wish I could have had this great of an experience from my high school years and I wish it for you too!.
We have been very happy with Mountain Heights Academy. It was a perfect fit for us as we had a year with extensive travel. Our son loved the flexibility that an online school provided. He was able to keep up with school from various locations around the world. The teachers are great to work with and available to help with questions or concerns.

This year we are not doing the extensive travel and my second son is attending his regular school and then taking additional classes through MHA. He can take up to three credits through MHA academy while still enrolled at his public school. I love the flexibility of Mountain Heights Academy.
Copper Hills High is the most Bodacious school in the whole State of Utah. I love all of my great friends, teachers and counselors. There are awesome clubs (like the Ultimate Frisbee Club to name one) and our Student Body Officers plan most excellent events for us. Thank you Copper Hills!
It's a good school, though there are many subtle signs of drug use and many other nasty things. As long as you don't dip into that sort of crap, it's really a good experience with many good, caring teachers and a great variety of classes for a wide spectrum of students to enjoy.
