That is a good market place and can see that there is a very good supply of all kinds of products to Jaffna. Even some latest products you see in Colombo Fort and Pettah, you immediately see them here, also. However, prices are little bit high than Colombo. Nevertheless, there is a terrible problem with parking. Parking becomes a problem when you travel by your own vehicle.

I wanted to visit Jaffna market specially to buy some good dry fish. Price is Rs. 1800/= per kilo while Colombo price is Rs. 2200/=, I bought some packets of " Bulto" which was manufactured in Dambulla. During our school days in 1960 onwards, size was big. Gunasiri Bulto was famous.
Most of the vendors could not speak in Sinhala and I managed to speak in Tamil since I have a Distinction pass for Spoken Tamil from Colombo campus.
It was a pleasure to walk through the market in the evening.
Ripe jak fruit ( Waraka) costs Rs.1000/= per fairly large fruit.
