Can’t say enough about the incredible food and service. The staff and bites were amazing. And excellent cocktails, wine, and desserts.

Bit of a hidden gem. The quality of the food was better than most restaurants in Alexandria. Oh, and there's a fireplace!

I don’t ever post about dining, but this Bistro is worth the positive review! This is a hidden gem that deserves a visit. One of the best French places you’ll find in the Old Town area. My wife and I went for a night out. Excellent food (Lamb Shank was a special entree for the night, beef Wellington appetizer, Brussel sprouts and truffle fries) and wine pairs! Truly exceptional staff. Our server consistently went out of his way to make sure our glasses were full and food was to our satisfaction. Excellent wine recommendation. Highly recommended to visit!
I recently dined at Bistro Sancerre in Alexandria, Virginia, and it was an exquisite experience from start to finish. The charming ambiance captured the essence of a true French bistro, creating a warm and inviting atmosphere.

The menu showcased an impressive array of classic French dishes, each meticulously prepared and bursting with authentic flavors. The Bouillabaisse was a standout, tender and rich with a depth of taste that transported me straight to France. The attention to detail in presentation was evident, turning each plate into a work of art.

The wine selection was extensive and thoughtfully curated, offering a variety of options to perfectly complement the meal. The knowledgeable staff was more than happy to provide recommendations, enhancing the overall dining experience.

Service was impeccable, striking a balance between attentiveness and allowing for a leisurely meal. It's evident that the staff takes great pride in providing top-notch hospitality.

Bistro Sancerre is a gem that embodies the essence of French cuisine and hospitality. With its delectable dishes, charming atmosphere, and attentive service, it's a must-visit for anyone seeking an authentic taste of France in the heart of Alexandria

Went for my 6 month anniversary with my girlfriend and we both loved it! Delicious food and wonderful ambiance. The staff was attentive and kind and gave us celebratory bubbly they made sure matched the alcohol we'd already ordered (iykyk)!
A wonderful little hidden gem!

Their wine flights were the best part of the evening, even though we had to ask repeatedly for additional drinks throughout the evening. The service was extremely slow, through out the night runners were offering plates to us thinking they were ours, when infact they were not.
An hour after ordering, they brought out our entrées first. We told the runner we ordered appetizers, and he just walked away with the food. Then 20min later we got our appetizers. They were good. Then our food came BACK out and it was inedible. We ordered meals with "Wagyu" cuts [which means it should cut like butter and taste delicious!], but instead we got extremely tough, fatty, over cooked bits of beef. See spit out, unable to be chewed meat in the photos. They remade our order with cheaper cuts of meat (filets), but charged us the same on our bill. Though the new cuts of beef were edible, they were nothing special, especially for the price!! To add, the "chocolate mousse," tasted like someone scooped out some Nutella and put it in a glass with 1 chopped strawberry. After a 3 hour + experience on their uncomfortable chairs, we finally got the bill with no attempt to make right the poor slow service, or various mistakes of the evening. This place is definitely not worth the money spent - especially with the food being below average!
