Cycladic island experience on a rooftop in the heart of Athens! So refreshing, feels like you are on holidays!

Good idea overall, but a very overestimated spot! There was barely anyone there on a random weekday in August, yet we had to ask for drinks a couple of times, they just didn't care... and they charged different amount (higher) than was on the menu for a very very average cocktail
We visited the roof beach on a Friday hot August afternoon for a couple of drinks. It was a big surprise even though I had seen images of the place. It was even better with the nice sand and the beach pool. I had never seen such a place in the city center of Athens.

Unfortunately, the service, although kind, was really slow and the cocktails were not following the impression of the place. We asked the bar if we had to order there and were told that the waiter will come to us. It finally took more than 30min to order and more than 45min to hold our cocktails.

Do. Not. Eat. At. The. Restaurant!
Though my friend and I were the only to people at the restaurant, after we ordered our food, the staff barely acknowledged our existence.
The waitress barely spoke understandable English (at a restaurant in a hotel for foreign tourist...🙄).
I had the Fresh Salad which turned out to be a quater of a lettuce head cut into pieces and garnished with apple and hazelnuts. The meal was basically a large bowl of lettuce with half an apple in pieces on top. An utter culinary embarrassment! The lettuce tasted like dirt , the bread that came with our orders was stale, stone hard and tasted like reheated supermarket bread.
When our food arrived the waiter dropped my food in front of my friend without asking who ordered what and ignoring my friend's protests that this wasn't her food. Not once did the waiters come over to ask if everything was okay.

Honestly, I would have expected this from a one or two stared hotel restaurant, but from a FOUR starred restaurant, this is just not okay. Never eating there again and never recommending it to anyone! Worst meal of my life.

Although over-priced (30 EUR per adult but small kids were free), we enjoyed our stay at Mavili Beach and can recommend it as a treat. It certainly is a special setting to sunbath at a small pool with a sandy beach on a rooftop. We may come again...

Originally a 5 Star Review until a return trip. The first time visited with a friend we were charged 0 for venturing up to the pool, ordering drinks and having a great time (Sunday mid day). Returned with my partner this weekend and was immediately stopped, and because neither of us spoke Greek (even though dual citizen) treated like second rate human beings, they wanted 40 euros per person just to ascend the 4 stairs to the under 1 meter kiddie pee pool, citing everything reserved (there were 6 open areas, the bar / restaurant was empty (4 people having coffee at one table) The way the guy guarded the entrance as the other employees (who were extremely nice the last time) looked on. We were to have dinner and drinks, we were going to spend 75-100 euros on their simply overpriced (11 euro average for a la carte food and 9 euro mixed drinks) , but I guess the 'foreigner tax' and treatment applies at this location. The employee then proceeded to follow us to the elevator. I will never go back to Mavili Beach or the over priced IKEA Alexandros Hotel. Simply Deplorable and haven't been treated like that since the UK English started their race driven Brexit in 2016. The worst part, we live 2km away and I had told many people how enjoyable it was the first time... Well times change.
Great environment, it's an island in the heart of Athens. Very impressive. The cocktails not so much though. At least not the aperol spritz I ordered.
