Idealic, easy trail, which has a large (2.2 mile) loop & smaller (1.9 mile) loop around Zylstra Lake. It’s a beautiful trail with slight rolling hills, views of the lake, surrounding meadows, and a bit of Forest. A little over half of the Trail is in the trees and shaded. The trail head has parking for 10 to 15 cars, a bike rack, & a portable toilet, but no drinking water. Leashed dogs are allowed on the trail. Fishing is allowed from the dam, which is about a mile into the short loop. About 3/4 of a mile into the trail is a low foot bridge through a small swampy section. The trail is 3 to 6 feet wide and it looks like it’s maintained by a mower. There’s not really any direct access to the lake, but that doesn’t matter since there is algae in the lake which is poisonous to dogs & people. Overall, it’s a very nice, beautiful, well-maintained trail, which is excellent for a relaxing walk. Recommend.
Good fishing (Catch & release)
Such a gem and a well-kept secret from tourists! It's an easy couple mile loop around a lake and it's quiet and scenic and lovely! Not muddy at all in summer.
One of our favorite places to go for family walks on the island. It's so beautiful and peaceful. The sunset walks are the absolute best. Great for all ages. Spring time and the mud is all dried up.
Of course I love a lake that has the same weird name as me! Beautiful area!

Muddy, but beautiful and quiet except for the sounds of nature.

It’s a bit soggy this time of year (December), but it’s very pleasant. Looking forward to visits in every season.
It’s a cool place but fishing is closed for half the year
