Very steep walk up the island, but it’s worth your while.
The trek up the hill on the headland will be rewarded with a spectacular lookout which is also a good whale watching spot especially in August.
Walked along the jetty for a great sunrise jaunt. Grab a coffee or sandwich to go on your way to or from. Bathrooms, water and more along the route. Gets steep in sections, however, so bring good footwear if it’s recently rained.

Lovely spot to view the sunset. If you want to see the sun directly go down, you’ll need to face west and be near the boat parking area. However, facing east was just as beautiful.
Really enjoyed this short but steep hike on this island- the birds aren’t called mutton birds. Read the sign :). There is heaps of free parking. The scenery seems so surreal as if looking at some Hawaiian island.

Looks so good after the new upgrade on the boat ram and the area great place for lunch and a walk that big pile of sand is an eyesore though
The Muttonbird Island nature reserve is accessibleby a nicely paved walkway. Makes it feel more like a peninsulathan an island.

Along the island you pass a nice track which passes numerous bird nests burrowed in the ground.
The island itself offers great scenery. The track is quite pleasant to walk on, but does have a decent incline, so a degree of fitness is required for the climb. Definitely worth getting to the top though.
When visiting the little harbour in Coffs Harbour make the effort to climb the small hill of muttonbird island - views incredible
Amazing walk! Begins with a steep paved path up to a mesh viewing ledge, which continues over the top of the hill. On the other side we were lucky enough to see whales breaching. Highly recommended
A short steep walk to the top but worth it. The 360 views from the top are amazing. When we went we were lucky enough to see some whales close by.
An incredible place to visit. Wonderful view of the coast and a great whale watching spot. The only reason I give it 4 stars is that some of the signage is quite faded and difficult to read. A shame as it's a great educational opportunity.

Beautiful spot that is entirely accessible and has ample parking. The only downside is the ongoing construction work but honestly the place is still 5 stars even with that!
Must visit place if you're in Coffs Harbour. Can have a nice look over the city an beaches. A beautiful place to spend some quality time on a good sunny day. Best time to go is in the afternoon. Could see a beautiful entire city. Overall it is very beautiful lookout point. I highly recommend a visit.
Nice walk as long as you don't mind hills! Great views from top and interesting rock pools etc on far side. Didn't see any Muttonbirds nesting when I was there, but plenty of signs of their presence.
Walked through the bridge around the marina just after sunrise. Lovely, the walk is amazing. There is a path that crosses the island. It is steep to get up and down but definitely possible for all ages.

Great place to watch the surfers in the water, walk on the beach , just sit with coffee & enjoy the view..
Have visited this island many times, very easily accessible with great views. Quite a steep climb to the first lookout, but great cardiovascular workout! Well worth the effort, great views up & down the beautiful coastline & of the harbour. The water is a magnificent sapphire blue. Only problem I have is you cannot take your dog

Even on a overcast day this beach is impressive. If you are into a nice 4wd beach drive, this is the spot. Just make sure you check the tides.

Amazing fine grain sand beach with great sunset view over the mountains and nice, safe waves. Good access, decent parking lot
