Friendly people enjoying nature.
It was great l!!! Very beautiful scenery. The green was very beautiful, the air was so great I could sent the whole day there. I rode my bike from one path to the other, I seen it all, one of the best path to see.
Fullersburg Woods is free, and a terrific place for both adults and children. The trails are beautiful, some along a river. Best of all is the little museum. Amazingly, there is a mastodon skeleton found nearby. A coloring table was surprisingly (to me) a huge hit with kids. An indoor tree house was easily accessible to kids. My favorite was a table filled with a substance like silly putty where animal footprints could be made with little stamps. We all spent way too much time there. Grau Mill is also worth a visit and there is even a trail to it if you don't want to drive the half-mile.
Nice, hard packed trails along a stream and through a woods. Easy to follow and mostly shaded. Fairly busy on a July 6 holiday weekend Saturday morning but not overly so. Very tame deer along the edge of path and a nice variety of birds (Herons, Red Headed Woodpeckers, etc).
Was there for a picnic; nice park but no running water anywhere. Women's bathroom had no stall doors; could not wash my hands. Be sure to bring hand sanitizer or wipes.
I attended a special event at the Mansion with Geoffrey Baer for WTTW. The place is very cool. Some of the rooms have been restored to their original furnishings and some are bare. The library, chapel, and hidden staircase are highlights of the mansion. The weather was not good for outdoor activities on the day of my visit, but the grounds are nice and would make a great place for a walk on a nice day.
Nice preserve , quiet, and peaceful place to connect with nature. Dog friendly!
Nice relatively small forest preserve. Nice quiet area in spite of being sandwiched between two busy highways. Beautiful forest, and a nice picnic area. Only have a short time to take a full circle hike? Come here!
Sadly they are doing a rather large “restoration” project which includes having removed the falls and many trees and plants. This place won’t be back to “normal” for 10-20 years. With much of the vegetation removed it will be sunnier and warmer than usual. Hopefully in the long run this will be a good thing. Really miss the falls. Before all of this I would have given it five stars, can’t now. Talk to me in 20 years.
There's a big open field at one end and a paved path through wooded areas. Good amount of road noise given the surrounding roadways. Someone I know had a laptop stolen from their car while they ate lunch here. I only use it for the pathway to get north/south. Have encountered deer on the paths.
We had our wedding ceremony and reception here. It was incredible. The grounds and architecture are beautiful. The event hall has beautiful stained glass windows. The mansion was elegant. Our guests said it was the a classy and relaxing environment and that’s exactly why we chose it. This place has so many ornate details in the ceilings, flooring, staircase, woodwork, and windows. Tours were also offered to our guests making it a unique and fun wedding experience.

What I loved most about this place was the event coordinator, Sherry. She put so much of her attention, time, and heart into our event. She was professional, responsive, caring, and helpful. She knows everything it takes to make an event goes smooth. She worked with every vendor to ensure the our evening went well.

The Peabody Mansion will always be a special place in our heart. Not only was it beautiful venue but it was Sherry who made the night absolutely seamless and perfect. We are forever grateful to have worked with someone who cared about our wedding as much as we did.
Cute nature center, nice trails along the creek and through woods. Good scenery, and connects with Graue Mill and some other nearby trails as well for extended walks. Saw a deer, and my daughter enjoyed the nature center play areas as well. Easy walking, crushed gravel paths so jogging stroller or wagon friendly. Nice forest preserve to spend 1-2 hours enjoying nature.
We had such a great time here. The kids loved walking, hiking, and looking for wildlife.

The nature museum was really cool and think my kids could have stayed for hours here.
We started on a trail near the Mayslake dog park and ended up on a gorgeous adventure through the area around the Peabody estate. There is a serene pond with weeping willows on the banks, a historic garden just starting to come back to life, a famous carving with amazing detail, and a unique little chapel with fascinating decoration. It's a perfect way to spend a spring morning (or afternoon). See photos for scenes of everything I mentioned here, but there is more to see than just this. The Peabody mansion itself is undergoing a renovation, but that is slated for completion this summer (2023). I, for one, am very much looking forward to going back and seeing the finished product!
How beautiful is this place! Beautiful walking paths wind through area which follows the river. Beautifully respectful to the wildlife & nature. Many signs in the area in different areas which I found very helpful and informational. The structures including the Old Graue Mill are spectacular and you can feel theirs history as you find your way around. The many array of birds and wildlife help magnify the experience at this wondrous pRk. It's a definite must see & you'll have to go more than once to take in all this area has to offer. Plenty of parking available.
This is an outstanding place to get a good walk, jog, or bike in.
7 miles of trailer, mostly in Woods alon Salt Creek.
Go now before the dam is torn down and the creek dries up. Scheduled for a Winter Sierra Club project
Well maintained forest preserve just off highway 88. It is connected via under highway to another section.

It loops around for about one mile. It needs some more signs around intersections.
Even though the pandemic has closed the place. Just walking the snow covered grounds was very pleasant. The chapel is a very nice part of the location. Truly enjoyed the mosaic above the main entrance into the chapel. To the rear is a nice prayer garden with the Stations of the Cross on a semi-circular wall.
This amazing park featuring a pond and off leash dog park is par to The Arboretum, yet, free to visit !Do yourself a favor, even in the winter time.Summer time activities are a must.
Beautiful place. Cant wait to go back when they are open so we can see inside the buildings. Beautiful flowers
Beautiful park to walk and enjoy some beautiful trees in the fall as the leaves begin to change. While visiting they had a maintenance crew cleaning up and making the grounds look very nice. Highly recommend this place for a beautiful day.
This place is beautiful! So many options for shooting weddings and couples and senior pictures or family pictures! The inside has book shelves and gorgeous floors and windows. The entire property is a photo shoot waiting to happen! In the summer it is filled with colorful flowers everywhere. I will definitely be back.
I traveled here to check out a play before I flew out. It looked like a university campus! The space was great for community theatre. The play I saw was called "The Firestorm" a well-timed play focusing on the political fallout of a white candidate who has engaged in racially offensive behavior in college only to have that incident derail his campaign and his interracial marriage. I loved the set, the play needed a bit of work as it was laborious at many stages but it has the potential in today's political environment to be relatable to many. The venue had good sound, great access to restrooms and the staff was extremely friendly!
Good place for nature walks and enjoy the outdoors. There is a gazebo with a nice grill. A lot of green and trails for walking, hiking, and biking. I recommend this place for stress relief and family bonding.
