Rainton Meadows- Durham Wildlife Trust
Was absolutely relaxing, i feel so tired now.
I was there with my husband for about an hour and half.
I'm disabled in a wheelchair and the main paths are accessible as the rest of the reserve isn't disabled friendly. The shop, cafe and toilets are disabled friendly.
I didn't go into the cafe as I felt too tired, but will go next time.
A huge range if Wildlife.
There are a few disabled parking bays in front of the cafe/ shop main house.
There are 2 car parks.
It's my 2nd day visiting this little gem of a place,I was lucky to capture some amazing subjects here which I'm really pleased about. The staff are very friendly and go out there way to help you ,the cafe well I'll leave that there you need to visit to appreciate the produce on sale its really good.will I be back yep you better belive I will.💯💥👌🏻
Probably the cleanest and best maintained nature reserve we have visited so far in 2024. Nice walks, plenty of wildlife. Spoilt slightly by the minority of dog walkers allowing their dogs to run free within the reserve.
Such a beautiful peaceful place. Stopped off to take a break from travelling and it was a great choice.
Lovely walk out, so happy knowing dogs are on leaders and the birds don't feel threatened by them. Rainton Meadows is immaculate and so well looked after. Staff in the cafe are so friendly and polite hats off to you all!! I have been several times as it's brilliant for my grandchildren children teaching them all about nature.
Lovely quiet walk in nature reserve. 3types/lengths of walk with waymarked posts. Parking. Small cafe, indoor and outdoor seating. Small shop. Friendly and helpful. Can recommend the scones particularly the cheese with cream cheese and chutney. A selection of sandwiches, cakes & drinks etc are served.
Visited here for the first time. Found it easy to park then paid a visit to the cafe. Had a delicious bacon sandwich which I would highly recommend, followed by raspberry and lemon cake which was equally delicious. Coffee was perfect. We then had a walk around the reserve, it was so clean and peaceful and an excellent place to walk our new puppy. Added bonus that all dogs are required to be kept a lead. Excellent all round visit which we will definitely be returning soon. Staff at the cafe were also lovely.
Great trails to follow. Hides to visit and lots of wildlife to spot. Bins now and then for dog poop too 👍
Just love this reserve. Lots of footpaths and hides with a smashing teashop. Two hot drinks, panini's, child lunch bag... Less than £20 and quite lovely. A walk round Joe's Pond to round it off.
Nice walk. Cafe and staff very welcoming. Dog friendly.
Great walk and lots to see if you look, good parking, on very little rubbish I could see will be visiting again.
Bacon sandwich at the cafe is recommended.
Excellent day out at this gorgeous nature reserve. Lots of lovely walks, and many of them are buggy-friendly. Nice little cafe too, serving hot and cold drinks and sandwiches.
